Personal Narrative: My Visit To The Nelson-Atkins Museum Of Art

My visit to the Nelson For my museum visit, I visited the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. I visited the museum on November seventh with my mom and my younger siblings. The first thing I go to see was their Cinco de Mayo installation. They had all of the elements represented in sand boxes with colored sand depicting images related to the elements on a huge alter. There were cards that you could fill out for a loved one who had passed on to put on the alter. This was one of my favorite part of visiting the museum. After the Day of the Dead Alter, the next thing I saw was the Greek exhibit. It was amazing to finally see marble statues in person. I had seen so many pictures and yet I had never once seen one of the statues in person. I saw a few paintings depicting myths and Gods. I really enjoyed these because I personally know a lot about myths and a lot of myths, so I was able to explain to my family why there was a picture of something that seemed random to them. I also liked to see the busts of famous Greek leaders. The next place I went was the European section. I thought all of the paintings in there were very beautiful. The section was very large, so I did not get to see all of the European section, but most of what I did see was oil paintings that depicted royalty and the higher class. The paintings had a very classical feel to them
I personally have always been interested in Asian culture and even speak a little bit of Japanese. The Asian section was probably my favorite section all together. I especially liked the room that had actual, or possibly replicas of the actual, furniture from ancient Japanese furniture. I also liked looking at the scrolls with paintings on them and the ornate fans with flowers on them. I thought that it was cool that they had magnifying glasses to look at the scrolls because the writing and paintings were so tiny it was hard to see the intricate detailing on
