Personal Narrative: My Trip To The United Center
The United Center After you first pull into the crowded parking lot the walk is horrific. My teeth were chattering so hard I swear that my teeth were going to fall out. I had my favorite sweatshirt on under my Blackhawks jersey with a coat and a hat, and it didn’t even help with the arctic temperature that I encountered on my walk in. Once I finally approached the doors to the United Center I had to wait in a line to get into the stadium that was so long I started to see my hair turning gray. I was pushed around by at least a hundred people in line. Finally, My dad and I got in the stadium, and even an hour before game time people all around us were super pumped for the game at hand which was the Chicago Blackhawks against the Nashville Predators. Now we were in the stadium and we were hungry from the neverending car ride and the line to get into the stadium. My dad took me to our favorite place …show more content…
When the Hawks scored the stadium went crazy and the song “Chelsea Dagger” was blaring like it always does when they score. The stadium got so loud that the whole city could of heard it. Everyone around us were high fiving each other and singing along to the music. When Nashville struck back it felt like a stake when through my heart and the whole stadium went quiet. This happened two more times a piece and it was three to three at the end of regulation time.
Then the game really got serious because overtime was about to start. When a hockey game goes into overtime who ever scores next is the winner. As the puck dropped for the first overtime tension grew. It got really nerve racking whenever Nashville got the puck toward our net, but Corey Crawford was unbeatable nothing got past him. Unfortunately Nashville's goalie was just as good. The game needed a second overtime. Now it was really scary because both teams didn’t let up and the only thing that happened in the second overtime was a lot of saves by both

That’s why no fans were allowed in the stadium to watch the Baltimore Orioles take on the Chicago White Sox. Each Major League Baseball team plays 162 games that have to be on schedule so that the standing are fair at the end of the season. So the game had to go on. Only 3 out of 45,971 green seats were full. Those three people were scouts that worked for the team. Adam LaRoche, White Sox’s first baseman, said that having no fans has taken away some of the meaning of the game. A small group of fans gathered outside the gates of the stadium and cheered. Other than that there was no one there to cheer on the…

Leaving your country is always a difficult decision, and whoever has experienced it understands the sacrifice it entails. When I left Poland at 18, I thought I was going to be in paradise, but to my disappointment it was far from that. I had to learn a new language and work hard to provide for myself. What kept me motivated was the hope for a better future and an independent life.…

This strong base of loyal supporters that the New York Islanders possess will remain a strength that keeps them safe regardless of the Barclay Center debacle. Although the Barclay Center has come across issues with accommodating to a hockey environment, the New York Islanders fan base has been their greatest advocates for the team and the sport. They have actively made an attempt to change the system to make the Barclay Center “home.” Initially, changes were being made that only alienated the already established Islander fans, such as “a change in the sound of the goal horn; forbidding fans from going to the glass during the warmup skate; the banishment of Islanders mascot Sparky” (Drance, 2016). These modifications caused a shift in the already unsteady attendance reports, but the loyal fans helped the brand adapt and survive. The goal horn from the Nassau Coliseum was reinstated, fans crowd the glass during warm-ups and Sparky is back, which caused a turnaround in the ticket sales in the first season at the stadium. After the first nine games, the season attendance was up 23% and the ticket revenue was up 34% (Drance, 2016). A loyal and committed fan base is crucial as it will sustain an industry and is currently supporting the organization of the New York…

I went to a tailgate for the USC vs. Vanderbilt away game given by Carolina After Dark and I had a blast! I honestly did not know what to expect. I was not planning on going, but decided to meet two of my friends there right before halftime. I was pleasantly surprised. They had really cool music playing and there were people dancing everywhere. It was overall such a fun atmosphere. It took me awhile to find my friends because there were so many people. I was so surprised at how many people were there. There were no seats left near my friends so I sat on the floor next to them. They had two huge white screens that they were projecting the game onto. It was so cool when USC did something good because the whole crowd would act like they were really…

Outside the Coliseum is the diehard, devoted fan base. At 7 am the parking lot is filled with diehard fans that come early to tailgate prior to the game. As you make your way to the entrance of the Coliseum the spices and smell of perfectly seasoned food attacks your senses. You can’t help but notice the camaraderie and friendships formed while the alcohol flows. It is in the parking lot you see the dedication and years of loyalty displayed by its fans. In the front row nearest to the stadium stands the most dedicated fan. An older man, scruffy looking stands next to his Winnebago. He is dressed in the traditional garbs for the day. His Winnebago is covered from front to back in Cardinal and Gold; from his speakers blares the schools song ‘Fight On’. Walking by he gives you the greeting of the day ‘Fight on’ and talks about the upcoming slaughter that is to commence…

We got to Charlotte, parked, took a good look at each other faces full of eagerness and off we ventured into the private doors to the stadium seats. I remember walking out of the tunnel leading to our seats and the first thing I noticed, to my surprise, was a plethora of green and yellow. Of course there was more black and blue, but I don’t think either one of us expected that many Packer fans. I looked down at the perfect view I had in front of me. The bright green rectangle of fresh turf and huge screens on each side of the field to catch every minute detail amazed me. We were right in the middle of the field and far enough back to watch as each play unfolded. Being so anxious, we arrived 45 minutes before kick-off leaving us with nothing to do but go grab something to eat. We stepped up to the counter to take in the huge sign with a list of foods. I smelled popcorn and although tempting, I knew exactly what I wanted. “What are you getting?” Nick’s voice interrupted my thoughts of food. “The only thing I ever eat, pizza” I replied back truthfully. He bought my pizza and himself a huge double cheeseburger. After inhaling our food (my mother says we eat too quick), The Packers ran out unto the field for warm-ups. Nick and I both cheered and screamed while dirty looks came our direction from Panther fans. Nick laughed at me for immediately taking my phone out and snapping a million pictures but deep down inside I knew he was glad I was doing it so he wouldn’t have…

If I had harnessed the ability to travel through time, I would choose to experience 1960’s Washington D.C.. The city was struck with such large amounts of heartbreak, but at the same time, many people had more courage than they’ve ever had. I would spend the first couple of hours exploring the riots on the roads, the segregation present in the shops, and just how people felt in this time.…

After we got to the city, we spended some time going around it and looking at some other things in the city. Next morning we got up, then got on the tram to the game, it was a 30 minute wait, but it was so worth it because I got to see the houses, how they build them there, the parks, this long and big river right beside the stadium. We finally got there, but we couldn’t go inside because the NFL is not letting people inside with normal bags, we hid the bag inside a bush then we got to go inside the stadium. They played the Jets and I got to see a lot the Steelers players like Antonio Brown, Big Ben. I got to eat a hot dog, popcorn, some other candies. But it was so good, but so much money to get food there. My seats were on the 50 yard line and the weather was sunny, but cool. But the most important time was spending time with…

In 2014 I came to America to study. It had been the first time I ever traveled somewhere without my parents and it was a much farther distance than I had ever traveled before. My English wasn't the best and I wasn't sure of how I would handle American customs and culture. When my student visa was approved I was very excited and very nervous, it was a big moment for me. When the time came I boarded my plane and made the journey to America. My time here has been very hard but also very fortunate for me. I have been able to study just like I had planned and I have been able to live in several different states which I am very grateful for. Over time I have been able to improve my English, thus giving me the ability to have a proper conversation with someone I may have met on a random day at the store or during my time in class.…
