Personal Narrative: My Trip To Texas

On Saturday April 13, 2013 I was walking through the parking garage on the USAA campus in San Antonio, TX to start my 4 hour work shift, I began to go through the turnstile and seemingly startled awake a bat. This bat began to fly and squeal in fear. It darted at my head getting caught in my hair a couple times. I started to scream and flail my arms about trying to fend off the nocturnal flying mammal in fear. During what seemed to be forever I was able to unlock the turnstile and exit the entry way but not before rupturing two discs in my neck. This incident caused quite the turn of events in my life. I had been working for USAA for 3 years and truly loved it there. I also lived in a beautiful apartment with my mother and two children and …show more content…
My life seemed to be going downhill faster than that bat that flew straight for my head. For about a year I lived in misery, living the life of a victim. Blaming everyone and everything for all that was going wrong with my life. I had lost what I thought was everything, my children, my home, my job and even stopped going to church. Then one day a friend of mine asked me to ride with her to a nearby town where her friend had just moved back from Dallas to. I reluctantly said yes and went on the hour drive to the middle of nowhere town. As we pulled up to the house of her friend I saw a beautiful young woman sitting on a wooden rocking chair with her arms in the air waving us down. I sat there listening and arguing with myself on what it was I needed to do to get my life out of the rut it was in. I looked up at her and she caught my eye and said to me “God has called you to great things Katie, He just asks that you trust

“What do you think?” I said to the man as he analyzed the car in my driveway. He was doing this for the past half an hour, asking every question there was to know about the car. I knew everything about the cars that I dealt with and I answered every question more confidently than the one before. This chat went on for another fifteen minutes and by this time I knew in my head, if he didn’t like the car, he would probably have already left. Finally, he said to me in an eager tone, “What’s your final…

There’s a lot of great things I saw on my trip to Galveston, Texas. My favorite place there was the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier, while I was there I got on the roller coaster… that was very interesting. There was kids scared to even get on it because a lot of different people were saying things about it. It was “scary” or maybe “you’ll fall off of it”, I was frightened. From far far away you can see the ships when you were around the beach. They looked sketchy, but, whenever I looked…

Six Months ago, on a hot humid day my friend Mike and I decided to go to the Texas State Fair. When we first arrived all I could smell was the great barbecue from the Grill. We then decided to walk around and find something to eat until we ran across a snack shack where I got some bacon cheese fries and he got a cheeseburger. The bacon cheese fries were so good they were crispy and cheesy with a hint of smoked bacon to top it off. Finally, I briefly overlooked onto each booth trying to decide which…

When it comes to spending time outdoors, my family prevails over all others. My dad sees every opportunity for a camping, hiking, canoeing, anything-outdoors trip and seizes it. Ever since I was old enough to walk, we have been traveling to visit national parks and hiking trails. I always enjoy camping with my family, but sometimes these trips don’t go as intended. This time, we decided to travel to Sipsey, Alabama. Briefer than our usual trips, we were only going to park, hike to a campsite…

home from visiting my family, it began to rain. It was just me and the boys and they had finally settled down from fighting sleep and I entered into a place of worship and dialogue with God. He began to take me back to the moment when I wanted to mend the broken pieces of my life and fill the voids with a relationship with my father so bad, that I came so close to meeting him but God blocked it. I began to reminisce back on the moment I visited Texas for the first time in my adult life (and probably…
