Personal Narrative: My Trip To Pigeon Forge
The holiday season, a time meant for the celebration of chilly weather and cheerful greetings, is perhaps the most celebrated time in America. Each year, millions of high school students embrace the promises of the holidays as an opportunity for rest, relaxation, and freedom from the confines of scholarly pursuit. I, being one of many students weighed down by the stress of finals and academia, eagerly anticipated my holiday break that would begin the second week of December. For weeks, I planned out what I would do with my abundance of free time so that I would enjoy each day to the maximum capacity. I resolved to travel to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where I would experience the scenic snow-capped mountains, bustling village towns, and adventurous …show more content…
The main two events that occupied my time were exploring the surrounding town and visiting the well-known theme park, Dollywood. Pigeon Forge’s town square, overflowing with small-scale souvenir stores, speciality shops, and bakeries, piqued my interest. Visiting it, I immersed myself in the homely yet exciting atmosphere radiating from the joyful town. Every block was doused in Christmas lights and each storefront was adorned with shimmering decoration. Holiday cheer swelled within me as I bought and ate homemade peanut brittle, toffee, and fudge from the surrounding stores. Pigeon Forge, being the home of famous singer Dolly Parton’s Dollyworld, never ceased to provide me with places to go. A group of friends and I spent a day at Dollyworld and thoroughly enjoyed it. We walked throughout the infinite array of attractions, displays, and rides. Disregarding the harrowing weather and sinister snowflakes raining down, I agreed to ride some of the most frightening rides once persuaded by my friends. The exhilaration of soaring through the air with the biting wind at my cheeks and then crashing down to earth was in every part memorable and …show more content…
Accompanied by my closest pals and given the opportunity to explore the wonderful location of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, I was utterly joyful. This holiday break was one of the best because of my exciting trip to Tennessee. Because of the friendly town of Pigeon Forge and its Dollywood attraction, the captivation peak of the Smoky Mountains, and the thrilling concert, my holiday break in Tennessee was the most memorable holiday I have experienced

When I was in 7th grade I wrestled this guy named Bo Meikamp from Edwardsville. In 8th grade I wrestled him again and he beat me in the second period, and then he ended up placing 3rd at state our 8th grade year. Our next match was at the Edwardsville Freshman Duels and he beat me by points in the third period. Later my freshman year I wrestled Bo at the Conference Championships, and I put everything into that match, but I lost in overtime. I knew that I probably will wrestle him again during Regionals at the Jackie Joyner Kersee Center in East Saint Louis.…

My feet ached as I passed through the automatic screen door to the snow filled Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport parking lot. The cool, crisp air stung my face, but my smile remained. Seven slow years have passed since I visited Crested Butte, Colorado, and I have been craving to return the moment I left. The towering mountains, blissful blue sky, and blinding white snow from the piercing sun makes Colorado a place like no other. I stood waiting on the icy concrete for my dad to pull around Baby Blue, a 1996 Chevrolet Astro van my family had nicknamed. My family visited Colorado in 2010, because my mom’s boss owns a timeshare condo, which included Baby Blue. He offered us a vacation to Crested Butte where we could have a free place to…

In 2008 I moved to Bluffton to help start a new aluminum remelt facility called Alexin. I was one of three invited to make the move from western Kentucky by the presidents of Alexin because of my knowledge of the industry, my reputation as a hard worker, and my positive attitude. In the past nine years a lot has changed. Even though I know longer work in the aluminum industry, I still pride myself on my knowledge, reputation, and attitude. There is absolutely nothing better than spending a week on vacation with your friends. Last summer, I went to the Free Lutheran Youth (FLY) convention. FLY is a large get-together where Lutheran teenagers from around the country meet and worship. Abby Ator, Lance Bengochea, Sierra Machart, Mariah Machart, Emma Pederson, Bryan Pederson and I go to Bethel Lutheran Church; we decided to fundraise and attend the FLY convention. When I was a little girl I use to always go to the park and while swinging I would imagine how much cooler it would be to live in a big city with lots of people and many things to see and experience. I never would have thought that at my age I would be sitting and relishing all the amazing times I had in my small home town. The family traditions, slow living and many childhood memories hold my heart in my hometown of Norfolk Nebraska. The boldly colored green grass, light brown cat tails lining the lake shore and fishing poles hanging off a dock all are vivid in my mind when thinking about the weekends I experienced in my adolescence.…

The Pigeon River State Forest Campground, while a nice little rustic campground, was definitely a stark contrast to quiet of the trail. Families cooking on grills and bathing suit clad campers carrying inflated tubes were all bustling around, enjoying the nice (hot) weather and the cool water. One such family stopped me to talk, they had a young Aussie at home. They were curious about Mira's pack and decided that their energetic four-legged family should start carrying their own trail goodies. I made a couple of stops at the river to let Mira wade in, get a drink and cool her paws before heading on. We reached the 6 miles split and kept heading heading north through the pines toward the 10 miles split where we would head west to check…

A day in Memphis is not complete without the diversity in our community. As a second generation Memphian who has primarily lived in Midtown, I had the privilege of watching several different cultures in one place and especially now that I attended one of the largest public schools. Daily, I experience someone else’s world. The people I get to meet and see are from various backgrounds: race, religion, ethnicity, etc. that I may never comprehend, which is wonderful. In Memphis, it is normal to be an enigma, to have idiosyncrasies. I believe that is the heart of Memphis. What makes this heart surpass discrimination is the acceptance that follows years of diversity. My neighborhood has single mothers whose children play with the neighborhood adolescents.…
