Personal Narrative: My Trip To Colorado Children's Chorale
In the early morning, at the Colorado airport, I sat waiting with a bulky suitcase and some very anxious kids. Today was the the day I set flight for Europe! I could not be more excited! All the packing, planning, and fantasizing had finally come to fruition. The Colorado Children’s Chorale was going to perform in Austria, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. The other kids were ready, the staff was ready, and I could hardly sit still. Suddenly, the choir staff rounded us up and we headed to the airplane entrance. Once aboard we sat into comfy seats destined for the eight - hour flight to Frankfurt, in Germany. While on the airplane, we watched movies or talked to a friend to occupy ourselves during the long trip. Gradually nearing Germany, the choir staff suggested taking a nap for a little bit since the time zones had changed. Agreeing, I snuggled as best as I could next to the airplane window. Trust me, the window was not a good pillow and I couldn’t sleep a wink! On approaching the Frankfurt airport the plane had massive amounts of turbulence. So much, in fact, that one of the girls in my choir screamed! I was so embarrassed when people kept looking around to see who had done it. After a very fast and confusing transfer onto a different plane, we got seated again for our much …show more content…
I met people from many different countries and I ate many unusual and exquisite foods. So many interesting things happened that I can’t even remember them all, though many of them will always stand out in my mind. Our return flight was bittersweet for all of us, because although we all wanted to go home to our families we also didn’t want to leave Europe and all of our new friends behind. I learned a lot about the world and became more confident in myself on this trip. My dad said that I came back different; a little more mature. I am so happy that I got to go and hope to get back there again, one

I am a leader. I have all the qualities that make a great leader, but I was not born this way.Experiences and how someone reacts to those experiences are what truly make a leader. One of the most influential experiences I have gone through is called the Lebanon High School Marching Band. I am certain that I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for marching band. Before coming to high school I already had leadership qualities, but band helped bring all those great qualities together and helped me get past my two major flaws: my lack of self-confidence and the fact that I was probably one of the shyest people you would EVER meet. When I joined marching band, I spent most of my waking hours sweating and suffering alongside wonderful people that I longed to…

I was a part of the Newnan High School Marching Band my tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade year. It was a great experience. The Newnan High School Band became like a second family, and the band room was my home away from home. As it got closer to my senior year, I started wondering who was going to get the title of clarinet section leader my last year of marching band. I felt like I would be the one for the job. When they finally informed us that leadership applications were available, I was excited to get my application. I wrote an essay and prepared for my interview. I knew I had the qualities they were expecting in a section leader. I was kind to others, hardworking, friendly, helpful, understanding, and approachable. I anxiously anticipated…

We drove down in separate cars from Kentucky enduring about thirteen long hours of “fun” with my immediate family. We finally arrive in animal kingdom where we are staying in one of the Disney hotels. We get to our room and get settled in when I look out on the balcony and see giraffes, and antelopes, and peacocks walking around in my back yard. It was one of my favorite parts of this trip. We then go out to wait for the bus to take us to our first kingdom, epcot. I remember immediately being here as a child and know exactly what I want to go and do and see. Now being seventeen, I take one of my cousins and we go off on our own to see what we want to experience. We go to the science museum and learn about space and evolution which has through my high school years been very beneficial to me. Having fun and learning at the same time was great. I spend the entire next day going around to all the rides and enjoying them at least two times each. I couldn’t believe how much fun I was having. After that I went to the stores and got all the things I wanted to take back home to remember this trip…

Sweat drizzles down my skin as it exits my pores trying to cool my heated body. The blood rushes through my veins pumping blood with the consistent pounding of my heart. Every breath, every second, every action, every thought; I am standing where everything counts. Artificial turf and grass crumpled beneath my torn black shoes and the thick silence only cut by the timed chants from afar. This is the last moment I will stand here for this reason. This is the last moment I will stand here with my family. This is the last moment of my marching band career. Many will say that this was a special group of kids, others will say that this year was a show that was made to make it. I, on the other hand, will say that this was because of seven years of dedication.…

My Jr High choir teacher, Mrs. Bradbury, was the most challenging teacher I have ever had. She would never cut the choir a break, and never stopped pushing us to be our best; “I can’t” was not acceptable to her. I hated her with every fiber of my being, and every time she spoke all I wanted to do was sew her lips together. It wasn’t until the beginning of ninth grade when I realized she was amazing. Once I let my guard down, we instantly connected. Recognizing how much I loved to sing and becoming one of the top singers in my choir was thanks to her. I started working for hours every day on my songs, staying late after class for help, and going to voice lessons. I excelled exponentially and Mrs. Bradbury noticed it.…

It was the first day of school, and I had just walked into 5th period orchestra. The period went on, with the usual rules and forms, but in the last couple minutes the orchestra directors talked about something called All Region. They told us that this was a competition where orchestra students from 4 different school districts auditioned, to be selected to play in an amazing concert! I was nervous and scared but excited for the challenge. I however knew that the most important thing was that I tried and put in my best effort.…

With a wide spread of my arms and a clench of my fist, the last notes of Panic! at the Disco's song, "Victorious" came to an end. As I called the band to attention and to march off the football field, I knew the marching season for the Mead High School Marching Band was coming to an end after another year. I remember feeling jittery and excited despite the fact that I was composed before our eight minute marching show began. I hopped off of my podium, used my shaky hands to disassemble the platform, and exited the field to catch up with the band. Our performance at the St Vrain School District Band Night marked the end to my high school marching band career that started just four years prior.…
