Personal Narrative: My Supervisor
I had mentioned to my Supervisor how much he makes, and that his wife must make a lot, because the Supervisor had mentioned various times that his wife worked at a school. I know that school jobs are part of the government, so they pay well. Also, my sister was a school teacher, and she made good money. I mentioned that to him to show him that he makes a lot with two incomes (his and his wife's together). I just make about $10,000 net pay a year. He's already doing well, especially with two incomes in the household. While I am just starting out with a degree trying to better myself and obtain a higher paying job. Yet, my Supervisor has the key to allowing me to progress or not by giving me a good or a bad reference. I realize he doesn't like me, but if he gives me a good reference, than I can get another job elsewhere, outside of Charter, or in a …show more content…
I pulled into the usual parking spot close at the top reserved for job applicants for the job fair. I got out of my car and got my folder with my resume and notepad and walked to my right, a far distance until I reached the administrative office, very professionally, as a candidate expecting a job interview. The door was open wide. I then greeted Martha, the same lady I had contacted to report the tire good Samaritan incident, from the previous weeks before. I walked over to her. She was on my right. “Hi Martha,” I said professionally. She was silent but then pointed to the left. I walked over to the recruiting table. There were 3 or 4 people behind it. I handed my resume to the HR generalist, I had met the previous week to ask what would be appropriate to wear to the job interview. She smiled and then said, “Let me take a look at your resume.” Then I said, “I just finished school a couple of weeks ago. I have been with the company for over 10 years and 11 months. I am looking forward for an opportunity to grow my career and go full

Growing up I had two loving parents, they always wanted the best possible for me. School was always challenging for me. I never liked it, and I never had a good work ethic. It started when I was young, my parents never made me do chores, and they always rewarded me for minimal efforts of work, and it did not help me in the long run. I had a very easy life growing up, but being spoiled does not help when you become an adult. It’s very hard to just gain a work ethic, it takes a lot of time and effort.…

One of my most significant team experiences comes from working with my Co-Resident Advisor (RA) when one of our residents blacked out. One evening a resident came to me because her roommate was in the bathroom vomiting after a night out. My Co-RA and I took control of the situation by delegating the tasks that needed to get done and implementing the appropriate protocol. While my Co-RA called the paramedics, I attended to the student in distress and asked the resident about the events that had transpired earlier that evening. Then my Co-RA informed me that the paramedics were on the way while I recounted to her what the residents told me. Once the paramedics arrived, I went to escort them up while my Co-RA stayed with the residents. After the…

Walking into high school four years ago, I fully intended on being a part of of the Co-Op program at Midland High School. I took the required classes prior to applying into the program, which were Computer Technology I and II as well as the other graduation requirements. Come the end of my Junior year, I had entered into the program. In the beginning, there weren’t any job openings in the veterinary field. Fortunately, one opened up at Animal Medical Center in mid July. I had received a phone call from Dr. White, the head veterinarian and owner, requesting an interview. A few days later, I attended the interview and subsequently was offered the morning Co-Op position at Dr. White’s office. This position required training, so the Co-Op student…

My leadership experiences position around a distinct premise. I shall attempt to define that premise from my viewpoint. Under the direction and suggestion of my grade school Saint Margaret Mary, volunteering in our community was inspired. Although there were no opportunities to serve in leadership roles during this undertaking, I had always embraced leadership. As a son of a Marine, I grew up with a solid sense of duty and service, in addition to a first-hand knowledge of leadership qualities.…

One thing that sets me apart from the other candidates applying to the University of California is my hard work. I have always been smaller than other kids my age. At 15 years old I was 4’ 10’’ and looked like I was eleven years old. Although this was an advantage at the airport, when I would begin to take off my shoes and the TSA Officer would look at me and say, “Don’t worry twelve and under can keep their shoes on.” I was often discredited for my size. Especially because I played volleyball, a sport known for its height. I constantly struggled to make a team I deserved to be on because people would see my height and automatically think I was not capable. Although my height often led me to feel discouraged and angry it eventually taught hard work.…

Life can be a treacherous journey that even the toughest people have trouble making it through. No one, not even the greatest superheros can get through it alone. We all need some sort of mentor. Someone like Mr. Miyagi was to Karate Kid and Athena was to Odysseus. I am no different, a mentor’s job is to lead and guide you through whatever life throws your way. My mentor has done that and much more. Normally it seems most mentors either come from different ethnicities or cultural backgrounds but, not in this case. Me and my mentor share a ton of the same characteristics and traits. Although he is older and much more wiser, we are still close enough in age to experience and enjoy some of the same cultural activities. One of them being checking…

During my sophomore year, a senior came to me at Tutoring Society to get tutored in math. She would come to me almost every day. And just like many others I tutor, I started to get to know her better. She came from an underprivileged background and worked an evening shift at our local food store to support her family. However, this had not deterred her from participating on the cheerleading team. One day, she had to leave five minutes early to cheer at an away game. A few weeks later, she rushed out the main doors after the tutoring session to take over her friend’s shift at work. Despite her part time job and cheerleading practices, she still worked hard to pass high school and her least favorite class: math.…

I interview my uncle David Johnson which is one of many case work managers for the social security office. I've been knowing him for the past 25years of my life and he have been a case work manager for the past 3 years. Social Security Act was “old age insurance system, that crew by a public policy level to be a contributory social insurance program. Where workers made contributions to what was called old age reserves account". But now social security cover various thing like retirement, disability and getting help with your medicine cost. For me I think it would be too stressful because you hearing and reviewing alot of different case to determine if they are eligible or not for the social security. And it might be sad dealing with turning down people that you know might deserve to have it but don't meet all the requirements.…

I'm a new freshman and I really need to get in contact with my academic adviser. I've followed the directions provided by the UIW site, but my student information doesn't have a section where I can look at my "Primary Adviser", in fact it doesn't list any adviser at all. I am not apart of the exceptional majors (I'm studying 3D Animation and Game Design) so I don't understand why I can't see who I should contact. I thought that seeing as how I was admitted recently the admissions office would be the best place to contact, but if my message is misdirected I'd be very grateful if you could point me in the right direction.…

A mentor is more than someone who gives life lessons. A mentor is someone you can be yourself around, someone you're allowed to open up to, a non-judgemental figure. For me, this person wasn’t hard to find, it was as if she was placed in my life. A middle-aged woman with a short haircut, and a heart the size of the world, she goes by the name Monique. In 2005, she was diagnosed with M.S. (Multiple Sclerosis). Even with her M.S., she was the most uplifting person I have ever known. I like to think of her as the life of the party, a person so kind-hearted, someone who doesn’t mind doing things for others. As for me, I’m a young high school senior partially knowing her place in life, but needing extra help to figure it out, so outgoing and would do anything to see someone smile. With the help of Monique, I learned to open up my heart more for people. Monique has been around years before I was brought into the world. Although she was just my mother's friend, as time passed, and I grew up she became a really good friend of mine, inspiring me to do better and helping me become a better person.…

This is a tribute to a man that has always been and will always be my mentor. His name is Alan Dale Jacobson, he is my father. He is not technically my father by blood, but he is by far the best father I could have ever asked for. I have known him my entire life as Uncle Al until I was 13 and he married my mother and our relationship went to a whole new level. He taught me many things like pride, honesty, to put my family above all things, and how to be an honorable man.…
