Personal Narrative: My Social Readjustment Rating Scale Score
My Social Readjustment Rating Scale score was 570. To say the least the past year has been a world wind. From reading the scale explanations it states that illness is possible with the amount of stress I have had in the past year. I have found this to be true. In the past month I have been feeling more run down than usual. I think now that I have begun scheduling my time again; things will start to settle down. Now when I took the two other quizzes my score was a lot better. The first quiz was 30 and the second was 64. I believe with all the stress I have been having the only way I have been completing everything was with my organization. I am also very ambitious so I do not like waiting to get tasks done. I have learned that setting time aside for tasks is the best way to complete them. I have to continue to delegate my time wisely and complete my tasks in a timely manor. I have been using my monthly calendar and alarms to keep me on track. I also have written down my personal goals and take time out each day to review them. Knowing what is at the end of the journey helps keep me motivated. …show more content…

Whether at work or home I try to make sure that all tasks be completed within it’s time frame, if there are more than several tasks then a to-do-list by priority is the best option, that way I’ll know what needs to be completed by priority. Finally the assessment that really got me was “How Stressed are you?” (Bauer & Erdogan, 2013) the results were extremely high. I thought that the result would be average or minimal. Of course there are some days that can be frustrating than others but its nothing that I can’t handle. It’s the out of your control type of stress that I think is the factor, there is nothing that can be done about it right away it would take more time to…

Walking into the locker room about to get ready to go to our last football game of the season. I could smell the sweaty equipment from the kids who never take their pads home. The Hempfield Spartans 7th grade team would be ending their season 0-7 if we didn’t win today. As I was changing into my pads my friend mike walked in the room. I said “you ready for tonight”. “Heck yeah” replied Mike.…

When I was younger, I always accepted the words of my parents without any second thought. Maybe I was afraid to protest the authority figures in my life, or maybe I was too afraid to speak for myself. I learned not to question anyone. I became subdued and submissive, I felt my creativity being stifled. Introverted , quiet people were not welcome in this household, and were made into extroverts, whether or not it affected their well-being. Socialization has affected my life in many ways, as it does for every human being on Earth.…

After my second year in high school, I made a decision that would turn out to be life changing. This decision wasn’t life changing in the way that getting married or going to college would be, but I really learned a lot about myself that summer. What I’m about to tell you is what happened when I switched from Marching Band to Football. I will explain to you why this switch was such a big deal to me and what I learned about myself from it. Switching from Marching Band to Football after my Sophomore year of high school changed the way I saw myself because I found I have a strong enough will to follow my heart despite controversy with others, I have a strong desire to be in control of my life, and I have an aggressive side that had not shown itself before.…

Since I started school and the University of Phoenix I have tried several thing to mange my time better. With taking the time management tool assessment I learned that a great deal of my time is spent working. On daily basics, I prioritize the things I need to accomplish by making a list. While I’m drinking coffee and eat breakfast write down everything such as what things I have to do for my classes or writing my grocery list or writing down what bill I have to pay by what date. When I write down everything it helps me stay on track. My support group consists of my fiancé, my parents, my friend and my co-workers. Everyone in my support group helps me by encouraging me to continue my goal of obtaining my degree. My fiancé especially helps…

One of my stressors is time management. During my work hours I am bad at managing my time and getting all assignments done and in a timely fashion. I mostly sit behind my desk working on not so important things and toward the end of the day I would work on my important assignments. I also procrastinate at times. I never finish more than one project this way. When something urgent is needed to be done right away I often find myself stressed, because I still have other things on my desk to be done, there may be a last minute meeting that I have to attend or I am needed to…

For my first psychosocial assessment, I met with a resident who had just completed an inpatient treatment program for alcohol abuse. Using my interviewing and facilitative skills I engaged him and learned about his life. Before completing treatment at the inpatient program, he was homeless, my main goal was to find out more about his family, and the series of events that led up to him becoming homeless. During our session, he shared that he had been using drugs and alcohol for over thirty years as a way to cope with his depression and suicidal ideations. His mental health issues stemmed from emotional abuse he endured as a child from his parents, which translated into adulthood. He currently has several strained family relationships, mainly…

Although sometimes change can be a difficult it can be healthy for us especially if you have been in one field for quite some time. * This week I learned that in order to lessen stress you need to be organized and time conscious. Basically, this means that you have to create a schedule and follow it in order to accomplish all of the things that you need to get done. Many people with poor time management have heart attacks and other help problems due to stress.…
