Personal Narrative: My Religion Vs. Baptism
I start reading the chapters of the book (Reasons To Believe) and I found "Baptism" term, which is interesting to know the meaning of it. It means they turned from old life of sin and guilt to a new life, so they be as a baby. I totally agree with this point because I have the rituals that similar to baptism, which is Hajj. Both the Hajj and baptism give an overall sense of purpose. It is depend on personal experience of the traditions, then, they returned like a newborn's without sins. In addition, the book discuss the ritual circumcision, however, I have the same these ritual in my religion. According to my religion, the circumcision of a male is a highly recommended act. It is not an obligation. The ruling is the same whether the male is

I never thought how interesting it would be to visit a different place of worship besides Christianity. Since the day I was born I’ve been a Christian and whatever anyone else believes in is wrong and that they are going to hell if they don’t believe in Christianity. About 3 years ago I visited the International Buddhist Progress Society a Buddhist temple in Naperville. Buddhism from what I learned looks more like a way of life or guidelines to it rather than a religion. Buddhism tells you how you could live life better but doesn’t scare you with the prospect of hell instead you live with ignorance. My own history with Christianity still made me doubt or fear the conquences of going to this temple. Part of me believed that I be punished by…

Baptism is an extensively significant religious practice within the Christian faith which is why it continues to have an unrelenting influence on the life of an adherent. Mark 16:16 quotes: “He that believeth and is baptised shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” Essentially, baptism symbolises a break with the old sinful way of life and demonstrates a full commitment and determination to begin a new way of life obeying God and fulfilling His perfect Will. One who is baptised can never go back to the old way, or else he stands in jeopardy of losing out on eternal life and consequently being consumed in the lake of fire. The significance of baptism within Christianity is evident from the features of…

Religion is one of the factors that help to maintain balance in the world. There are many religions in this world. Every religion has its own beliefs and ways of following it. Religions may vary in many aspects. While some religions may have the same beliefs, some will have the exact opposite beliefs. I come from a place where even though there are many religions found I get to observe and practice only my own religion. Even if people are open about different religions, one religion being involved in another is not acceptable for my society. This is one of the reasons why I have always been curious about other religions and their ways of following and practicing it. This is why when I got a chance to go to a Jewish Synagogue as a part of a religious service…

In almost every Christian denomination baptism is traditionally a Christian sacrament of admission and adoption into the Church, but historically has proven to be a topic of concern and debate after the Protestant Reformation amongst some groups. As a result of the Reformation, various Christian denominations broke off from Roman Catholicism, many of which disagreed on the specific role of baptism and its effects. These disagreements manifested ultimately around the argument of when Baptism should be administered. “Pedobaptism” and “believers baptism” are popular terms that are used to differentiate between denominations that practice infant baptism and denominations that practice adult baptism. The prefix “pedo” primarily means “relating to children” and is from the Greek word pais meaning “child”. “Believers baptism” is…

Three years later I met James Cox. He was living with his Mother’s Pastor Charles and his wife. We met on the job and became friends. James passed his physical for the fire department and he wanted to go out to celebrate. He took me to a very nice restaurant called Max House. Once we were seated he smile and said thank you for accepting my invitation. I brought you here to show you how much I appreciate you for working the extra hours and allow me to get paid for it. Few people would work another’s shifts and gave them the hours. That was the only way he could go through his training and still keep his pay. I had not minded doing that for him. While we sat in the restaurant he thanked me repeatedly for helping him. Then he told me about his life. He came to New York…

In order to take a stance on circumcision, one must know some things about circumcisions. A circumcision is a procedure done to male patients. The doctor conducting the procedure first numbs the penis. Then the doctor grabs the prepuce (foreskin) and tears the synechia apart. The prepuce is held and a vertical slit is cut into the bottoms side of it. A device is laid over the prepuce, and the excess skin is cut off using a scalpel or surgical scissors. This procedure removes about one third of the penile skin, takes ten or so minutes to complete, and is often not felt, with the exception of the initial numbing, by the baby boy. Circumcisions are helpful in improving the quality of hygiene, prevention of some diseases, and his sexual partner’s health.…

    11) When you were a child, what type of religion did your family follow? When I was a child, my parents were divorced at an extremely early age. I truly never got to experience the lifestyle my Father had to offer, since he didn’t recognize that I was his child. I didn't fit in well as a child. I was diagnosed with adhd before I can remember. So my learning disability had been stealing confidence from me bit by bit my whole life. My husband makes me confidant. It's easier now. Until I moved in with his Mormon parents. I'm not going to lie I really just wanted them want them to like me. I am not Mormon I'm not religious at all actually. I am agnostic so I don't think entirely that the Mormon religion is wrong. I just don't know. My whole life for some reason I just thought that all people were the same in the way of not not liking people or judging them until you know them no matter there life style. At least that's how I am and in the back of my head I know that wasn't true but I just felt that way with people I knew.…

My collage is Freedom of Religion, why I chose this freedom is because everyone has a religion, even though some people don’t choose to have a religion, it is important to them. ¨With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.¨ by Steven Weinberg. I chose this quote because anyone can have a religion it does not matter what kind of race they are, gender, or how they look. They choose what to believe in not what others believe in. Not everyone will believe in God, others may believe in something else and they cannot change that.…

The person I choice to interview this week just like last week is also someone I turn to when I am faced with questions and concerns regarding all of my biblical classes and sometimes just personal spiritual questions. That person is my pastor and my father in law who has been a southern Baptist preacher for over thirty years. Of those thirty years he has only been pastor of two churches both, which have been very successful while he was and is presently the pastor. When we talk about anything and everything overall we have a great relationship. I choose to interview him this week because I knew he would be able to show me the more experienced side of his ministry because of his years of serving the lord.…
