My personal learning style is doing. I learn best from the hands on approach of getting in to a topic or job and attempting to complete it on my own. This allows me to see my mistakes and not have them be prevented before they happen, which allows me to note the problem and fix it. I find it much harder to learn using concrete experience and reflective observation. Before talking about my history, I have to say that my ancestral history is what prejudiced in my values as a good human being. For school, the thing that has changed was my grades have improved so that I was able to get principal's list. My life has changed because I have found out about my true friends and my “fake” friends. The ones that I know more outside of school are my true friends but the ones that I don’t talk to at all is different. This helped me change the way I look at people and kinda prejudge. My greatest influences are my parents and my brother. My brother suffered from Guillain- Barre Syndrome when he was eight. He lived in the hospital on an artificial ventilation for 97 days and later he had to continue physical therapy for at least ten years as he was completely paralyzed. My parents and my brother devoted their few years completely for his treatment. Today, my brother is a successful engineer working in the bay area. During my semester in Nature of the Learner I was placed in a second grade classroom at Johnson Street Elementary. This was a global studies school. I was very hesitant on my first day of going into the school. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but I was excited to be in the classroom because second grade was my favorite age group to work with. During this placement I assumed that I would help out the kids within the class but I didn’t. My teacher had me help out this one little guy every week. I was able to help him with his writing and math. I enjoyed doing that but that left me with about five minutes in the actual classroom to observe. I headed to my first class which just so happened to be my favorite subject, English. The hallways were very wide but when filled with students I felt like I had to shove my way through just to get to my locker. The lockers were a mixture between Gray and purple. The school colors were supposed to be purple and silver but there was no way that these lockers could be considered. I took a look at the little piece of paper that the lady in the office had given me and tried out the combination on my locker. It took me about five minutes to open it and after struggling for that long I was a little irritated so when it did open, it flew open and slammed into the locker next to mine. I held my breath and hoped that nobody had noticed. I took a long deep breath and slowly opened my eyes again. Luckily I was still standing alone and nobody around was looking at me. I started learning the basics skills and rules of the game. I started playing Belle-Clair when I was four or five years old, after I saw my sister playing, I wanted to get started as quickly as possible. I played with girls that I went to school with. Every practice and game was so entertaining. Being able to play with my friends outside of schools and getting snacks after every game was the best part.
