Personal Narrative: My Pre-Med Journey

Before I headed off for move-in day, my parents and I went over expectations on serious topics like financial and communication arrangements. Setting expectations in preparation for the first quarter at Northwestern helped me become more responsible and understanding. By knowing what my parents expected of me, we were all able to understand each other more clearly. My parents understood if I forgot to call them during midterm week. However, they made it clear that they would always help and support me through the difficult transition. Although my parents did not attend college in the United States, I still called them to discuss my course selections and my career aspirations. As now a materials science major on the pre-med track,
