I was standing on top of the Astronomy Tower at Hogwarts, observing the planet-Mercury.

It was a winter morning, therefore the weather at the ground was already cold. As I was standing on top of the tower, not only was the environment freezing and spiky, although there were electrical heaters placed, if you hadn't got any protective clothing on, the cold could easily freeze and hurt you.

I held the telescope and looked through it. In my vision, there was a rocky round planet, known as Mercury. There were craters all over its surface as if it had been hit by various rocks. The moon, a disc to the naked eye, was revealed to have a mountainous surface, covered with craters, basins, and peaks, much like the earth itself. This discovery came as a shock, both to conventional science and to the Church. And then, in January 1610, Galileo's telescope revealed four of the nine moons of Jupiter; these moons "move... around another very great star (Venus)," he wrote, in the same way as Mercury and Venus, and peradventure the other known planets, move around the sun." At the time, most scientists believed that the Moon was a smooth sphere, but Galileo discovered that the Moon has mountains, pits, and other features, just like the Earth. When Galileo pointed his telescope at Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, he made a startling discovery. The planet had four "stars" surrounding it. Within days, Galileo figured out that these "stars" were actually moons in orbit of Jupiter. Galileo's telescope revealed four of the nine moons of Jupiter; these moons "move... around another very great star in the same way as Mercury and Venus, and peradventure the other known planets, move around the sun. This was concrete evidence for Copernicus's system, which had long been confined to the realm of mathematical models. If Jupiter had…

My feelings were overwhelming while I was watching Rouge-1, and climaxed in the last minute. I have been a space oddesy fan since I was a toddler and man first walked on the moon. I first watched Star Wars when I was about 1 0-years old. Only a few years earlier, I watched 2001, a space Odyssey. I thought Star Wars was, much better, not because of the action, but because of the force. All my life I wanted to be 'at one with the force' and have the power to heal, block bullets, and cheat death. In my opinion, I have pretty much achieved that.…

When I was able to look through the telescope, I immediately observed the basic outline of the plant on a much smaller scale which I have seen through textbook drawings before. Furthermore, the planet was white in color which I believe was because the telescope couldn’t display color. In relation to brightness, the planet wasn’t particular vibrant but I could very much notice the circle in the middle surrounded by a ring. One of the most fascinating feature I noticed through the telescope lens beside Saturn was two additional white, twinkling dots on each side of Saturn which were identical in all ways. Subsequently, I learned those two dots represented the stars, Rhea and…

So there I was, in Creative Writing, working on my project, when suddenly my name was announced on the intercom above my head, “Fiona Bailey, please come to the front office, Fiona Bailey.” I became surprised for a moment, then I stood up, left my classroom, and started speed walking through the halls towards the office. As I walked through the office doors and asked the front office what they needed me for, I noticed something. There were a bunch of people there that I didn't recognize, and a woman with sparkling brown eyes and a blue dress said to me, “You have just been chosen to go to Mars, and you leave in four days.”I froze, my mouth went dry, and all I could say was, “What?!” The woman smiled and repeated what she just said. Then after a few moments I asked,”How was I chosen to go, and why?” Clearing her throat, she explained that all the…
