Personal Narrative: My Personal Leadership Reflection

I had the chance to observe a monthly organizational meeting and daily activities from an individual who was in a high position. This allowed me to understand how and why the material I am learning and learned from the Health management related courses. From the breakdown of revenue cycle, to the understanding to the process of implementing a new process in part of the organization and the time, effort, and collaboration it takes. The real experience gained was that of watching my mentor in his role. I observed what kind of leader he was. He was exhibited all the charecteristics of a great leader. He was able to handle and use all kinds of personalities and other leadership styles. During my time there he repateadily showed me exaples of how this worked and why it was important. Each person is unique and threr for they responde differently to how you speak, message, tell and listen to them. As such as an adminstrtor I must be able to be flexiable in how I lead people or even how I respond to leadership. This has not only been shown to me by the shadowing and adminstator but also by all the mangment classes I have taken. It is clear that this is the best method for me.The understanding I gained as well is that I have to understand that I will be making mistakes and that as a leader it is my responsiablity to ask questions when needed. Finally I have learned that as a leader in the medical field I must put the patient first. Always think of the patient and make sure that those you lead or work with are reminded of this. Any work done should revolve around this concept. Over all this experience taught me a a lot and gave me the needed information to complete my model and further more understand what kind of leaer I want to be and what kind to strive
