Personal Narrative: My Passion For Soccer
My passion for soccer has been around ever since I started playing at six years old. Soccer has always been my favorite sport I have played and I played all four of the main sports. All the great experiences and bad experiences has actually shaped me to be who I am, and most people don’t think it affects you personally but it helps you become more responsible and smart. My first time i stopped a goal from happening at the age of six was when I knew I wanted to be a defender. My dad always says defense wins games and i wanted to help win games. My first years of playing, I played Parks and Recreation soccer all the way up until the age of ten. When I had just turned ten i was playing in an indoor league for fun when one of my friends dad’s and also my parks and …show more content…
My final season they did an age change where nobody could play with kids born in a different year than you, and i always played with the older kids. When the season started, I had a whole new coach and a whole new team and I liked them, but we won only one game and I didn’t want my last years of travel to be bad. After the season I made a decision to switch clubs for the first time and I went to a place called Phoenix. In tryouts the coach told me i was already on the team because he had scouted me before and wanted me. I got picked to go on a college tour which was where a team consisting of U18’s and U19’s went to five colleges and tour them and play there actual college soccer team. Our first game we played Emory and Henry and we beat them 2-1 and it was the first time in phoenix history that they beat a college team and first time any team scored and that was all in my first official game. That week might have been the best week of my life and I will never forget it ever. Also I received my first college soccer offer from Emory and Henry. just finished my season last weekend and we ended up placing in second despite all the injuries we had this year. That is my whole story

Over the weekend I had a huge Soccer Tournament in Grey. We had two games on Saturday and one game Sunday. In the first game we played a Cumberland club team and beat them 2-0. In our second game we played Westbrook and won 5-0. So at the end of the day we were 2-0 and in first for our bracket, but winslow was also 2-0. Going into Sunday we had to beat South Portland by two goals and not let them score. We ended up tying them 3-3 and we got eliminated because Winslow beat Westbrook 4-0.…

When I was ten years old I tried out for my local travel soccer team. I did not expect to make it, but by some stroke of luck I did. I started playing and it was not what I was expecting. In the past I averaged a hat trick every game, but travel soccer was a lot different. I started playing defense, but that might be an overstatement, because I did not get a whole lot of minutes. I knew that if I wanted to play more I was going to have to put in more work outside of practice. I started practicing everyday switching from running, to foot skills, to agility training. I probably spent more time complaining about it and there were a few time that my parents had to push me to practice, but I knew that I had to put in the work.…

It was a frigid, windy, Friday night in October. The only light was the bright and beaming illumination of the stadium lights projecting over the soccer field. The bleachers were full, it seemed as if the whole school was there, and as a freshman with anxiety, it made it hard to cope with the fact, that I was going to be a starter for the varsity soccer team.…

As my childhood gradually transitioned into my adolescent years, I was old enough to realize my dreams of becoming a professional athlete wouldn’t serve as a career path. By the time middle school rolled around, I slowly narrowed down by ambitious list of activities to the one I was most passionate about: soccer. Through the first awkward relationships, real homework assignments and horrifying threat of detentions, soccer was always something I could look forward to.…

Starting from the first practices with my local baseball team, I was worse than all the other kids. A dislike towards the sport added to the uphill battle of getting better. My life has revolved around soccer since I was four years old. My whole family was born into the sport and I’m so thankful that I have the support from my family and friends to continue to follow my dream in playing college soccer. I believe my life would not be the same without participating in the sport I love and playing with the people I grew up with. I wouldn’t have met half the people I know now. All my teammate’s families that treat me like their family would have been just imaginary. I wouldn’t have a second family to fall back on when I need. Soccer had made me for who I am. It’s game day, and the first time in twenty-three years that we might be able to defeat out school rivals, Turpin. But something didn’t feel like it should, after all it was the biggest day our team’s season. We had immense confidence in ourselves, being the higher raked state team, we expected to win this game then make a large tournament run. Little did we know that the rest of our season relied heavily on this game. Winning or losing this game would not end our season physically, but would emotionally ruin us, ultimately ending our season. The game began with a pleasant, almost soothing blow of the whistle and ended with the blood-curtailing screech of the referee’s dagger, sending shivers down my spin. The roar of our crowd stopped and…

I remember when I was five, I would always attend my step sister’s soccer games during the weekend while at my dad’s. I would always love to watch but I was more of a hands on person. I have always wanted to play soccer but unfortunately it was harder to do for a kid, like me, when I had divorced parents that lived 40 minutes away from each other. It was so hard because usually when it came to soccer, the games would be during the weekend and practices would be a few days during the week. Finally, after my sophomore year I decided to try again and play for my school.…
