Personal Narrative: My Open Heart Patients
I believe we still use a lot of paper still in our everyday practice. Every time I discharge a patient I print information out on their new medication. It surprise me how many patient have no idea what medication they are on; let alone why! As a nurse I educate them during the medication pass and at discharge. Slowly they are getting better about not having repetitive charting on paper and on the computer. I feel like if they can fix this problem I would have more time to spend with my patients.
My manager loves that every time I work, I find at least 10 minutes of my day just to sit down with each one of my patient to chat and see how they are feeling emotionally. Especially with my open heart patients; they need that “I’m here for
