Personal Narrative: My Online Writing Career
Hi there! Welcome to my little spot on the net.

My online writing career began a mere 4 years ago. I decided to stay home with my two young boys. I wanted to make an extra income, so I decided to use my training as a writer. Little did I know that the world of online writing was VERY different from the creative writing training I received in college many, many years ago. I learned to write for an online audience and the rest is history.

I'm mostly known for my DIY tutorials. Nonetheless, my writing is diverse. I've written very personal essays, well-researched articles about fire ants and mosquitoes and even covered trending news. The majority of my articles are accompanied by photos taken by me. I am not a professional trained photographer

My writing process is usually all over the place, I have to be in my room with my door shut, my music on, my fan on, and my television on, weird, I know, but that is what I have to do in order to keep myself concentrated. After I am all situated I begin by writing down different ideas on a couple sheets of paper, listing ways I could support this idea and how it relates to my topic, sometimes when I am stuck I look up sample essays online to help me out of my rut. Once I finally choose an idea I start writing the first things that pop into my head down on another sheet of paper, it usually ends up being a jumbled mess that only I can understand. After all of my ideas are laid out onto the paper I begin placing numbers beside them so I know…

My project is an original song that I wrote using only the electric guitar. The song begins with three parts singing together. The first of these parts is the echoing bass notes of D and G, driving the interval of a perfect fourth. The second is a muted, rhythmic line that consists of four notes and repeats on the beat. The third is simply a high F# played using the technique of harmonics and highly effected by reverb. These three parts play together on a loop throughout the entire piece, and represent the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. There is no real defining start to these parts, which represents the idea of a God without beginning. What is played thereafter (what might be considered the melody)…

I have been writing for a few years, I started writing stories in the sixth grade. It was my way of escaping reality. I love to write stories about fantasy worlds and life experiences. Asking me to describe myself as alone is a hard question, but asking me to describe myself as a writer is harder one. I am a beginner writer, who has talent but still has improvement to make in every which way. I am very hard on myself when it comes to writing, and every time I write I believe it's horrible. Other's say different. As for a few of my friends say that I write what I feel and my feeling can take several pages. I like to write and I write…

New insights I have developed about the genre include being able to communicate effectively without appearing to repeat yourself and knowing that there is a major difference between speaking to small groups, large groups, and writing a paper in general. Faced with the dilemma of choosing my spring semester classes in college, a challenge faced by almost all college students, I was having a tough time deciding which ones that I should sign up for. Finally after much inner turmoil and debate I decided to take EN100, an english class required to be taken sooner or later by almost, if not all, college students seeking a degree. When I first signed up to take english I have to say that I was most definitely not looking forward to taking the class. Throughout my entire life I have never been a good writer and have never enjoyed taking english classes in general. Although it is very hard for me to find motivation to sit down and write papers for class, especially when I don't have something to write about that interests me, I pushed through and produced some quality papers.…

I began writing stories when I was young. By the time fourth grade rolled around I had tried writing books but never finished them. Every writing project I started I put in a memory box and stored away. My teacher read interesting books to my class. She would take two weeks to read a 500 page book. I enjoyed cuddling up next to watch each expression she expressed. Every couple of months my teacher set up blanket forts and let us read independently all day long. We’d read beside the light of a lamp and bring our own pillows to lay on. This was my favorite time of the year. From there, she let us write stories and read them aloud. My teacher helped develop my love for writing.…

Writing has always been a method of communication throughout human history. Whether or not someone is considered a 'good' writer or not is often a matter of opinion, as the rules change for what makes a good story every day. Even those who may not write well have the power of communication in their hands. While most authors want to create a story that enraptures an audience, this power is developed over time and shows that everyone has the ability to write. Over the course of this term, both I and my classmates have developed our skills in order to prepare for the future and become better writers overall. Three things to consider about this semester is how I personally grew as a writer, what I have learned as a writer, and how I hope to develop…

I have always enjoyed writing; however, I have never enjoyed the process of writing as much as I do now. Entering this semester, I felt confident in my skills as a writer and did not expect to learn as much as I have. Each class, I found myself learning new skills to apply to my writing. I think the most important thing I learned this semester is that writing does not have to be a daunting task and that writing is about what one does with the knowledge he has.…
