Personal Narrative: My Muscular Strength
This semester I worked on increasing my muscular strength. I feel that overall I was successful in my goal. Determination made me successful along with the help of a fitness app called “Lose It!”. The drive to eat the food that my body needed to gain muscle. The drive to work out and to push myself to the max. I had to really want to achieve my goals to succeed. Tracking my diet and activity in the Lose It app showed me information I was unaware of in my everyday life. I learned that it is actually very hard to eat as much food as my body needed to gain muscle. Not only that, but also that the food I ate had to be healthy. I learned that the activity’s that I was doing didn’t burn as many calories as I had originally thought. The food I was eating did not come close to containing the nutritional value I needed. I had to eat more food. Which is harder than most would think because the food needs to be healthy. My family has a relatively healthy lifestyle which made this behavior change relatively easy. I have learned that with better lifestyle choices comes a longer life and a better quality of life. Choosing to change behavior for a non-positive change can affect you, your family, and the society. The behavior change project was a success in that I increased my muscle mass and I learned to document my diet and exercise in the Lose It app. To be even more successful I could have exercised more to increase my gains. However, with an already busy schedule and many other things I decided that my plan was adequate. My strategies included exercising on a regular basis and eating healthy foods that help with muscle growth. I would run 1 mile every other day at around an eight minute pace. Along with is I would work on my muscular strength by using the machines. Increasing the amount of weight each week allowed me to gain

    Throughout the course of the last nine weeks, my eyes have been opened to an entirely new world full of nutritional and exercising information. It is rough being a thirty-three year old husband and father, with an eye on trying to remain on this planet for as long as humanly possible. As parents, we all have goals we want to achieve.     a) Explain your current fitness and nutritional habits. I have had a membership to 24 hour fitness for over 5 years and I can count the times I’ve worked out at the facility on one hand. I currently do not have a fitness habit in place. After I had my daughter 19 months ago, it was hard to get back into a fitness routine.
