Personal Narrative: My Mother Ellawee Washington
My Mother Ellawee Washington, she is the reason for my being. I watched her daily struggle to raise five children and never a word that we were not going to make it. My dad was killed when I was barely 8 years old, which left her a great responsibility. My mother is my love, advisor, mentor, cheerleader, and motivator. Every Mother’s Day I would tell the stories of how my mother took care of me even into my adult life and she replies I did not do it by myself; God led the way for me to take care of my children. I can never repay the price for having such a great person in my life. I admire pastors, ministers or people that preach the gospel. I admire them because of their calling to speak over mankind. They are bold enough to go anywhere

I have a rather large family but my aunt Arlene is definitely my favorite relative. She’s a loud mouth 50 something year old woman whose personality is bigger then life. From her jet black shoulder length hair to her black lipliner and gold lipstick to her sweet perfume and plump physique she's definitely not hard to miss. My aunt Arlene is super outspoken and has a carefree attitude with a hint of sass which everyone enjoys about her. If you ever have a problem she's the one you would want to talk too. She's the person who will hand you the truth on a silver platter but wont crucify you for any of your faults. Although we love her for her great advice my aunt Arlene is known as a party animal and knows how to have fun and thats what I love…

"We admire people to the extent that we cannot explain what they do, and the word admire then means marvel at." This quote by B. F. Skinner shows exactly how I idolize certain people. I admire those who can make me realize who I am, who understand where I stand on and who is not afraid to say what is on their minds. One incredible individual, who I have met recently, changed the way I looked at the world. Ms. Lena Parks has a different air around her that I do not find most in others. I applaud her for the discipline she imposed on herself to reach her goal, for her sense of humor, and for her individuality.…

I’ve been told the impact of a parent’s passing can carry on for years or forever. I was my mother’s primary care giver for two years. In her last four months, along with hospice, I took care of her full time along with maintaining my full time job. She passed in her home surrounded by me and my other two siblings in January. Just three months later my dad, who was not married to my mom, died unexpectedly in his sleep. I am still in the tender times of grief from my mother’s and father’s deaths. Who would think I could fathom writing about such a sorrowful time in addition to writing about the lessons I learned from my mother’s last months and the graceful way she left this earth. I relive this not only because it is kind of…

Jutha Jean Charles she stands at the height of 5’2 with medium length hair and hazel eyes as well a mother of three, a newly homeowner, a student but above all to me the hardest and most amazing mother in the world. Before all this was possible it took lots of time and hard work and devotion to her dreams so they may be achievable. She started in Haiti and moved to the US without ever giving up her ideas of education, stability and overall being a mother to her family. This is an incredibly hard task to do but my mother wake up every morning knowing her priorities and above all using her head and staying focus to what matters to her most “at my age and my origins what is the most I can achieve” for she knew she did not make it to states young…

Comparatively, both my mom’s story version and the history’s version are very alike because in my mom’s version she talks about how she remembers the twin towers being attacked by terrorist planes and he knew that many lives were lost during the attack and comparing it on what my research said was approximately about 2,996 people were killed in the terrorist attack. My mother talks about how she felt unsafe at first but then she started feeling safe again and if you compare that part with President Bush adding a new cabinet-level-department which works to protect the United States from terrorism then you can see how Bush tried making the world safer. A difference between the history’s version and my mom’s version is that my mom didn’t really know how the planes got hijacked…

Much like you when I was in 6th grade I had to speak in front of an audience. It can be a very scary experience and when your anxiety starts to kick in it can feel almost impossible to do well. As you said you signed up for another speaking competition and I believe that was the best thing for you to do. You should do things that allow you to speak in front of people to help build up your confidence and make you more comfortable speaking in front of an audience. Do not feel like you are just limited to doing only competitions go out and speak to different people, because audience is different and will have a different effect on how nervous you may be. Like myself, when I speak to an audience of my peers or advisers I tend to feel a…

It was a hot summer night in August. I could not sleep; I feared that the upcoming baby would steal my mom’s love from me. It is normal for children to desire their parents’ love and attention, especially for a kid like me who grew up with a single mom. At the age of four, my mom was my whole world. I thought she felt the same way until she announced that she would have a baby. I would not have accepted the fact that my mom could divide her love between me and my sister. However, when I observed my mom holding a tiny crying baby in her arms, witnessing her happy tears gave me the strength to take care of my little sister. My little sister’s existence not only taught me how to be caring and selfless to my family, but it also sparked the compassion in me to care for others…
