Personal Narrative: My Metamorphosis In High School
My metamorphosis came about when I entered high school. My English teacher assigned a project in which we began mapping out our high school experiences so that they attract the attention of our desired colleges. After class, I opened up to her about how I did not have any direction in life. I had no clue what I wished to be or even why I was going to school. To my surprise, she didn’t ridicule me. She simply asked me to recall a time that inspired me when I was a child. It could be anything from a superhero movie to the first time I learned about the planetary system. Out of habit, I claimed that I was never inspired by anything. She then retorted that if that were the truth, why was I still being driven to exist. Without purpose, creatures lose the will to carry on so something had to have incited my passion to keep me active for all these years. To this day I am amazed by how a simple phrase could move …show more content…
I created this company to combine engineering with track. During track season, my teammates would always complain about how difficult and tedious it was to put on their spikes. Therefore, I invented a device that would install spikes into track cleats easier. However, constructing this product was no simple task. I had to effectively balance managing my company with, participating on the track team, being a member of Key Club, FBLA, CSF, Math club, and AVID. I joined the Young Entrepreneurs Academy and attended extra classes every Tuesday after school in order to receive funding for my company. Throughout the program I created a business plan, constructed a website, and learned how to operate CAD software in order to properly manufacture my product. I even collaborated with a few local engineers to help me 3D print the casing for my product and began working as a school tutor to pay for the supplies I needed. After all the technical tasks were complete, I began the long process of patenting my

The reason my academics aren’t going well as you or I would like is because of the several family issues I’ve had to face during my high school career. It began my Sophomore year, I found out my mom needed surgery in her arm so the chances of her cancer spreading would be reduced. I was under a great deal of stress worrying about my mother, taking care of my four siblings making sure they knew everything was going to be okay, even though I wasn’t sure myself. It was all up to me; while my other brother worked to help with bills, my mom being in the hospital, and my dad working. Taking care of my siblings consisted of cooking, homework, cleaning, nightly routine, and putting them to bed. When the work was done it would be around 10 o'clock. It was already tough to buckle down and focus on homework without all the stress. With all this my first semester grade was less than great.…

This mindset allowed me to stay focused and determined because I wasn't focused on going to the next party or the new music that was out. I cared solely about the legacy I left behind. That is why I decided to run for student government at the end…

An event that marked my transition from childhood to adulthood would be the day I moved to the United States From Dominican Republic four years ago. I was fourteen years old when my family and I decided to change our lives. My mother always wanted a better future for our family., therefore she decided this would be the best for all of us. At first it was indubitable difficult for me to become accustomed to a new country, leaving the rest of my family behind. A country where I was required to learn a new language and learn so many new things to improve not only the way I was in school but also learn how to improve myself internally. It was a challenge, but I am proud to say that even if I had atrocious days where people criticized me by reason…

The last time I remember something as huge as starting in high school was having to move to Oregon from Alaska, but for better or for worse, here I am, attempting to make my mark on this big blue Earth. However, Highschool was never always just peaches, cream, rainbows and unicorns. If I’m to be one hundred percent honest here, I was legitimately terrified of it, whether it be the totally reasonable fear of being stuffed into a locker by a bully or getting lost in a labyrinth of corridors and passages of infinite classes and broom closets. But those fears never truly emerged up until the final days of freedom that remained from my graduation of 8th grade. As the days drew nearer, so did my fear reaching the brim of a breakdown. I was scared,…

I had to dig deep for this! Dig deep to figure out what big problems I faced throughout these past years. It wasn't easy for me because I faced many difficulties throughout my life. Then I remember a time in my first 2 years of high school. I was oblivious. Confuse about my future. Whether I wanted to do something after high school. I have to admit school wasn't my priority in freshman year. I wouldn't get the best grade, but they weren't the worst either. All I cared about is having friends. Then something hit me. Seeing all these seniors not graduate on time. Seeing many kids struggle financially after high school. I eventually notice that those who go to college succeed more. Especially being a minority it's extremely difficult to succeed…

In four years when I read this I honestly won’t be surprised if nothing really changes. I can’t see myself changing in any major ways. I will always love sports, hunting, fishing guns and anything that has four wheels. I sure I will still not understand the point of reading books for school and writing long papers about things that I don’t exactly care or relate to me. Although, in order for this letter to do it’s job in four years I need to start from the beginning.…

I grew up in a school district composed of small farming communities. When I was younger, I didn’t enjoy living in a small town. I dreamed of living in a large city filled with many attractions, big malls, and fancy restaurants. However, my perspective changed in high school, especially after earning my driver’s license. I spent more times with my friends. In addition, I went to more sporting events, and I participated in school activities and organizations. I got a job. Most importantly, I understood that I only have authority over what I’m able to control. I learned how to appreciate the small commodities in life. It’s satisfying saying hello and good morning in the halls, doing the little finger wave as you drive by someone, and enjoying…

After instantly closing my mouth and wondering why my thoughts blurted out to a complete stranger who had never talked with me before, a sudden realization struck me like a head on collision. Since when do people ask me for advice? All of a sudden, vivid images started going through my head, like the times when my peers would tease my way of speaking, yet they were also the same people who later asked my opinion on a subject. Times when it seemed as if I were isolated from the people around me in middle school, yet they always asked me for help for subjects they didn’t understand and sometimes tried their best in including me in conversations too. Finally, the colorful images of a growing student who decided to take vigorous courses that not every normal high school student could take. There no longer existed…
