Personal Narrative: My Life In My Horse
Ever since I was a young child, about 5 or 6 years old, I have had an unlived life shadowing me. I gave up a “normal life” in order to dedicate myself to horses and horseback riding. When school breaks come instead of sleeping in and hanging out with friends, I wake up at daybreak to spend the day laboring at the barn. After my work at the barn is complete, I have a “real job” I work at in order to pay for my horse. I have a scarce amount of free time, so I had to forgo a normal life in order to be successful in the horse world. This narrative reveals two main aspects of who I am. First, it shows I am dedicated and a zealous worker. I’ve never shied away from responsibility. I also always put my best effort into the tasks I am given. Second

The dining area of Rocking Horse Ranch was always hot and crowded during meal times, where the tired, overworked servers would bustle around attempting to provide excellent customer service for each and every inane request from the guests. I’ve heard that loud, hectic, quick-paced atmospheres filled with pretentious parents and scrambling children are almost calming sometimes. This atmosphere never brought me serenity; it gave me anxiety and stressed me out. Just the thought of sweeping melted ice cream cones off of the stained carpet and dry mopping the tiles floors gives me nightmares.…

When I decided to join track I felt as though it was the worst mistake that I could have ever made, simply because i did not like running as a child. After trying it for the first year and not giving up I enjoyed it very much and that is when I stated that I would continue to run track till I graduated high school. Then came ninth grade and not only did I continue to do Outdoor Track but I also joined Indoor Track and it helped me improve with my running for Outdoor Track. Horse showing is not an easy task. It is hours upon hours of going in circles and patterns around the arena. You have to know all the right patters and ques as well as having everything spot on and perfect. It is perfect chaos. I smiled to myself at how perfect this show was going. I’ve only been showing for 2 years and so far I’ve gotten $10, 1 ribbon, and a good job from my trainer. If you were me, you would understand how exciting it was. My trainer, Dominique, is also the real owner of my horse and my same age best friend. I had never won anything at a horse show before. There has been many cases in which I have helped an outsider feel welcome. One time in particular is when I played tag with this little boy at church since he was new and no one else played with him. Originally, I was outside eating candy and talking to my friends at church. I noticed that this little boy was standing all alone watching all the other little kids play without him. I thought that maybe he was upset so I went over to him and asked if he wanted the rest of my gummy worms. He seemed nervous at first, but eventually he started talking to me. I learned that he was five years old and he was visiting his grandparents for the weekend. His older brother was outside playing basketball with some of the other older boys at the church, and…

I headed to my first class which just so happened to be my favorite subject, English. The hallways were very wide but when filled with students I felt like I had to shove my way through just to get to my locker. The lockers were a mixture between Gray and purple. The school colors were supposed to be purple and silver but there was no way that these lockers could be considered. I took a look at the little piece of paper that the lady in the office had given me and tried out the combination on my locker. It took me about five minutes to open it and after struggling for that long I was a little irritated so when it did open, it flew open and slammed into the locker next to mine. I held my breath and hoped that nobody had noticed. I took a long deep breath and slowly opened my eyes again. Luckily I was still standing alone and nobody around was looking at me. I put my extra books and notebooks into the locker and and closed it as quietly as I could.…
