Personal Narrative: My Job Shadowing At Brimfield High School
“Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.” (Plato). I think this quote is so true. Music gives life to everything and everyone around it. Music to me is like frosting to a cupcake, they just can’t go without each other. Job-shadowing at Brimfield in their music department was an amazing experience. This paper will included the details of my job-shadowing experience, what the future holds for this job, how would I relate to this job and how a person can prepare for this job.
For my job-shadow I went to Brimfield High School and spent the day with the lovely Kylie Hankosky. Ms. Hankosky is the band teacher at Brimfield and when I went there

I thought it would be just like a teacher and you’d have different classes throughout the day. The one thing that was different is that the band has an eighty-six minutes class period at Brimfield and at Princeville we only have a forty minute class period. I think what I like most about the job is being able to work with music and give kids the same feeling that I had when I was learning about music. I’d love to have someone else experience that same feeling. I think the thing I disliked most is the kids not listening or being too loud when the teacher talked. I think that it is disrespectful to the teacher and a disruption to the kids who are trying to learn. I’m not certain that I would like to pursue this career. There are other things that i’m interesting in that I’m also thinking about going into but music education is definitely a strong option.
Someone should prepare for this career by first taking a basic math class. By knowing math a person will able to count rest in music and know how many beats are in a measure, so it’s really basic. I think a person will also need good communication skills to communicate to the student sand to the faculty. I think someone will have to have a very optimistic and patience attitude while in this job. You’ll need to be patience with all the kids because everyone learns at a different pace and I think every teacher needs to be optimistic when teaching

The reason my academics aren’t going well as you or I would like is because of the several family issues I’ve had to face during my high school career. It began my Sophomore year, I found out my mom needed surgery in her arm so the chances of her cancer spreading would be reduced. I was under a great deal of stress worrying about my mother, taking care of my four siblings making sure they knew everything was going to be okay, even though I wasn’t sure myself. It was all up to me; while my other brother worked to help with bills, my mom being in the hospital, and my dad working. Taking care of my siblings consisted of cooking, homework, cleaning, nightly routine, and putting them to bed. When the work was done it would be around 10 o'clock. It was already tough to buckle down and focus on homework without all the stress. With all this my first semester grade was less than great.…

During the lesson I would make sure that children are settled in class quickly without any disruption’s and help distribute the instruments in a safe manner. I would support the children by showing them how to hold and play their particular instrument, paying attention to those who seem to be struggling or having difficulty. I would make sure that any music sheets are distributed, ensuring each child or pair has one. I would be monitoring behaviour to minimise…

When I started Unity High School I thought that we were going to get a lot of work from my classes, and that work was going to be extremely hard. I also thought that I wasn't going to have any free time to do anything because of that, but it turned out to be wrong because the teachers give us a good amount of work but its not really hard. I thought that making friends in Unity would be hard in a sort of way but it was quit easy because everyone else was trying to make friends too. When I first got to Unity I also thought that there was going to be a few school clubs, but there is a good amount of clubs that students can join if they want to join some type of club. I think as a person I have grown more since first coming to Unity because I…

Also within this job role I work closely with the music department within the school, and offer administration support and planning support for lessons; especially in cases where it could be far better understood by the children I work with. This enables me to identify the ways in which they learn best and help everyone including the children with special educatory needs to progress more effectively throughout their school-lives.…

Because of the irregular hours and unsteady work, many musicians choose not to perform. Some teach at music schools or conservatories. Others teach in colleges or secondary or elementary schools. These musician-teachers provide instruction in music appreciation, music theory, and voice or give lessons on individual instruments.…

The tension began to overlay the dark hall as I stood on the stage. Spotlights bored into my composure, illuminating my anxiety to the shadowy faces in the crowd. My partners and I were eagerly waiting for the results: the ultimate critique of our work. For the past six months, we had been feverishly perfecting our business financial plan for the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) state conference. Through countless hours and late nights, we finally arrived on the daunting stage as a finalist.…

“East High is a place where teachers encouraged us to break the status quo and define ourselves as we choose. Where a jock can cook up a mean crème brûlée, and a brainiac can break it down on the dance floor. It's a place where one person, if it's the right person, changes us all. East High is having friends we'll keep for the rest of our lives, and that means we really are 'all in this together'. Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat!” Troy Bolton. Although I am not a student at East High from the movie High School Musical, this quote sums up my experience at North Kingstown High School. Like the students from the movie, I was encouraged to be myself and along the way I created life-long friendships and many memories.…

I have been a student at Macomb Community College for a year, over my academic career here I have learned a lot more than I thought possible. Before I started at Macomb I had already been through two other colleges, but for academic reasons I left those schools. When I finally got to Macomb I had to register for an English class, in which I just happened to get you as my teacher. I thought the class was going to be extremely easy because it was online, and honestly, I thought that I was pretty good at English. As I went through the class I never really paid attention to all the good tips and skills that you were teaching, I just wrote on the topic as I was told. I never practiced on my punctuations, run-on sentences, or even the development…

The career that I chose to research was Middle School Education and Teaching. I chose this career because I have always liked going and being at school, I’ve always liked being able to learn new things, and be able to work and be with people every day. A teacher is an educator who provides education for students. Being a teacher can help students in many ways even out of the classroom. A middle school teacher normally teaches the grades sixth to eighth. The reason there is a middle school is to get the students prepared for harder classes in high school. A few things that a teacher does is prepare lessons, quizzes, and tests over the material that they learned. They can teach subjects anywhere from science, math, english, spanish, and any other courses that the school provides. Teachers prepare report cards, talk with the student's parents if needed. They also have to enforce rules and regulations and make sure all students follow them. Teachers don’t just teach they help students with their personal lives and help them grow up to be a better person in the world. Teachers provide and educate students on all core subjects and with learning life skills. A teacher’s work environment is normally…

All throughout school I strived to be a great student, always trying my best and never giving up. I didn’t really have any life changing moments that shaped me into who I am today that is, until freshman year. That year everything changed for me I was faced with challenges I never had to face before. My brother and I are three in a half years apart and he went to Horizon High School for his freshman and sophomore year. He was a troublemaker to say the least didn’t have the best reputation so all the teachers there thought that I was just like him. When I started there no one really knew my name and then once they saw my last name they started to be rude to me and say rude things to me. Even when I did good on work I still got a bad grade just because the…

In four years when I read this I honestly won’t be surprised if nothing really changes. I can’t see myself changing in any major ways. I will always love sports, hunting, fishing guns and anything that has four wheels. I sure I will still not understand the point of reading books for school and writing long papers about things that I don’t exactly care or relate to me. Although, in order for this letter to do it’s job in four years I need to start from the beginning.…
