Personal Narrative: My Improvement To My Writing Process
During this semester I feel that I have made many improvements to my writing process and the way I structure my papers. I now start by thoroughly researching a topic create and creating a detailed outline of all the ideas that I want to include in my writing. As this course progressed I found that techniques that I once found hard to incorporate into my writing were becoming more easy. An example of this is my addition of commas when they are needed, before I used to add commas when I was editing. This course helped reinforce the principles of writing that I knew and helped make them easier to put into my writing. My favorite part of this course was the in book assignments, they helped put the lessons into practice before having to write

Writing isn’t something that was ever stressed in my high school and since I am a computer science major, didn’t think that I would really be needing to write very often. But, this class has completely changed my perspective on writing, along with how I write. I have always had struggles and difficulties when it comes to writing. This is due to the fact that English is not my first language, and that I am still learning. I started to learn how to speak, and listen, and mainly write in English when I was in ninth grade. Writing has been the hardest to deal with it, because I have many spelling and mechanical errors and most importantly, how to organize an essay, but this changed when I took English 49 with Professor Lucero. In my first day of class, I was assigned to write an essay about my experience with writing. I was not completely sure on how to start my essay and how to organize it. When I was in High School, I did not write many essays, and the few I did, I have endless help. So, I just my…

In all seriousness, my writing is garbage, but it some what improved the slightest bit because I had a professor who actually knows how to teach a English class and not give little hints on telling us if our paper was trash. Instead, we were told straight if it was a good paper or not and it has probably helped me improve the most. In High School, I was always told that my papers were “good,” thankfully I finally had a Professor who can give it to me straight and tell us how we can improve our writing. On all the RRs, RWL, and formal essays that I have written these past twelve weeks, I have gotten educational criticism that has helped my pathetic writing become less pathetic and somewhat college worthy writing.…

A major theme in my life is improvement. I challenge myself to take risks and set high expectations for myself. For instance, I strive to run faster and for longer distances every couple of times I approach the treadmill belt. I am obstinate about my minimum distance, 2.2 miles, and my minimum speed, 6.8. A major component of improving myself is learning. Every new word is a miniscule enhancement of my massive English vocabulary pool, but it is still a step in the right direction. I enjoy becoming more knowledgeable in both domestic and international affairs. I wish I could have more time to pour into reading current event and health articles. I am particularly attached to drumming the latest scientific discovery or innovate biotechnology product…

I remember, when I was younger, that I wasn't fond with the idea of writing. I remember after writing out paragraphs upon paragraphs my hands always hurting and my brain exhausted from all the mental thinking and processing of writing. However, I would have this feeling; this sensation when I would write with thought, with passion and I carved it. However, it was hard to find a place that was felt the same kind of passion that I felt for writing and could help hone my writing. Then, I found out about BISFA that could help me with my writing, but my English teacher, who was supportive in my decision, told me a question all writers should always themselves, Why do you write? I figured that I would have an answer, but it I didn't. However, it…

Ever since I was a little boy I have always loved writing and being able to write. So thank god that I have the option to list my strengths to try and convince people that I am somewhat of a good writer. So without further ado here is my self assessment essay.…

Tears poured down my face. The tears won’t stop I thought they would never stop. I laid there at night wishing someone would know. Anyone. Someone. But no one ever knew the truth because I didn’t know where they would send me, or what would happen to me. Then my alarm clock blared reminding that I had to go to school. I didn’t even sleep at all. But it’s been like that for days.…

If I were shopping for a type of style of writing that would totally describe me ; it would have to be somehow poetic type of style writing. This type of style of writing allows me to express my feelings in words describing what I am going through at that moment or have gone through a certain point in my life. Sometimes words cannot be expressed verbally but only written. In the past, I have found that writing down my feelings at that moment help me somehow vent in a way but not necessarily to anyone. I personally like to go back and read what I actually wrote on a specific day and just meditate on those words and how I felt that day, and if it affected me in a certain way. The reason I do this is because it helps me to deal with those feelings…

Faced with the dilemma of choosing my spring semester classes in college, a challenge faced by almost all college students, I was having a tough time deciding which ones that I should sign up for. Finally after much inner turmoil and debate I decided to take EN100, an english class required to be taken sooner or later by almost, if not all, college students seeking a degree. When I first signed up to take english I have to say that I was most definitely not looking forward to taking the class. Throughout my entire life I have never been a good writer and have never enjoyed taking english classes in general. Although it is very hard for me to find motivation to sit down and write papers for class, especially when I don't have something to write about that interests me, I pushed through and produced some quality papers.…

Thinking of creative ways on how to develop my paper is a strong suit I benefit while taking on a writing assignment. When given a topic to write about, I write down what comes into my head. I do not worry about the word count if the sentences make sense on paper or even punctuation. I write to avoid forget any important points I might have thought of. This method of writing is where my weaknesses show. Sometimes what I wrote makes sense in my head, but not on paper. Other challenges I face with writing assignments are time management and punctuation.…

My writing process is usually all over the place, I have to be in my room with my door shut, my music on, my fan on, and my television on, weird, I know, but that is what I have to do in order to keep myself concentrated. After I am all situated I begin by writing down different ideas on a couple sheets of paper, listing ways I could support this idea and how it relates to my topic, sometimes when I am stuck I look up sample essays online to help me out of my rut. Once I finally choose an idea I start writing the first things that pop into my head down on another sheet of paper, it usually ends up being a jumbled mess that only I can understand. After all of my ideas are laid out onto the paper I begin placing numbers beside them so I know…

It is no surprise to anyone who has known me since my years as a "wee-little" first grader that language is my "Achilles Heel." The inner confusion in an up-and-coming student's head when introduced to two languages since birth is quite a mess. Having to live in a world half dominated by the colloquial English language that is spoken everyday while the other half is controlled by the strict rules of Arabic drives me insane at times. Lately science has shown that students, like me, who have been exposed to two or more languages within the first four years of life tend to remain in a "confused" state of limbo while trying to perfect the basic mechanics of each language. In many cases,…
