Through my high-school rowing career, it was my goal to win first place in at-least one competition, whether it be in a boat with four people, or a boat with eight people. Shortly after I was added to the team, I switched places with the stroke seat in my boat due to my determination and hard efforts. Stroke seat sets the rhythm for the rest of the rowers, and as I quickly improved to be the most powerful and technical rower in my quad boat, I was to be the metronome. That year, we won most of our competitions. For the following rowing seasons, I was set as stroke seat in many of the boats I had competed in. I continued to improve my technique and speed in the boat, and became one of the most reliable stroke seat members in my school's entire…

The most memorable thing that happened to me was when I first discovered what I’m really good at. I came across inspiring Youtube videos of old classic Roller Derby and recent ones that were published only a year ago, I knew from the moment I laid eyes on those quads that I had to try it. In less than two weeks I was a complete natural at skating, I was all about skates. I practiced all the derby stances, exercises, techniques you name it I am absolutely in love with this sport. but as much as I fantasized about doing it I never thought that I’d actually get the chance to be part of their world and have training by the Derby Dames Juniors Freshmeat Association crew, which are ranked the top thirty-one in the united states!…

I was 5 years old ,and I was sitting on my brand new trampoline... my parents then came out and said ,” You wanna try something new like maybe softball. “ I of course said ,”YES!!” The next day I had softball practice and I was scared about there being the mean girls on the team. I knew that there were going to be the girls that thought they were the best. And there was. I had one person help me out and that was my dad and mom helped sometimes. I was scared of playing softball once I got on the field ,because the ball moved so fast coming at me. I have wanted to give up softball many many times ,but I did because my dad would push and get me to get in the yard to practice. I know that I will try more new things in the future. For, instance…

After all the research I did, I have decided maybe not to do this job when I’m older because I personally just don’t feel like it's the right thing for me, even though a lot of people tell me that I’m good at styling hair, I just don’t feel like it's right.…

Depending on a person's mindset, I'd say there are many things someone could find unique about me. I could talk about how my foot is freakishly small, or about how my eyes change color according to my mood and level of tiredness. I could talk about how my hair curls in three different ways making it's own unique curl pattern, but I'm not. I, personally, think the most unique thing about me is the fact that I can draw just about anything in pen, better than most 12th graders without ever having a art class. Many people seem to think they're good at the things they love to do, but not everyone is correct majority of the time. Within the last three years, I've been invited to join a prestigious art group, accepted into one of the top art schools…

From the chalked-up dirt to the fresh cut grass, a softball field is always a place I love to be. This is my 10th grade year and I still enjoy it just as much as the first day I started. Even though I play other sports, softball has still remained my favorite. My uniform colors are gold and black representing the Rams. I love the moment from when I put my uniform on and get on the field to give all my force to win my game.…

I was sitting in my freshman geometry class, talking to some friends about injuries. We were talking about how none of us have ever gotten injured in our entire life. I had been playing sports since I was in the sixth grade, and nothing ever happened. In my life I had never broken a bone. I had never even sprained an ankle. I had never worn any kind of brace, taped an ankle, or talked to a trainer about any muscle issue or pain issue. When kids would lay on the court, I always thought they were fine or looking for a little attention. My thought was that they needed to rush off the court because they were dripping sweat all over the hardwood floor, and they were taking too much time up. I used to assume they were killing our momentum when they would fall down and cry because some schools…

People always joke with me about my hair. Jokes about how I could tie blades at the end of my hair and whip it around like some kind of ninja warrior. It’s completely understandable to view two long braids as secret weapons of a trained assassin. I could probably use it as a weapon, if I wanted to. It was definitely long enough. Braided, my hair was a bit past my waist.…

My desire to work in the sports industry came from legendary basketball coach Pat Summitt. As a young kid in South Dakota, I remember watching Coach Summitt and the Lady Volunteers on TV and there was just something about Coach Summitt that I fell in love with. I loved her passion, the relationships she had formed with her players, her demand for excellence both on and off the court, but I think the one thing I really took from watching and listening to Coach was her mindset of surrounding yourself with great people and treat everyone with respect.…

At the age of two my parents decided I had too much energy and they enrolled me in my first gymnastics class. As a female you train four events: vault, bars, beam, and floor. I went to class once a week for two years and at the age of four I joined the competitive team. As a competitive gymnast, you train year round and a minimum of 10 hours a week is spent in the gym. Some schools even require additional classes in ballet in order to improve the dance side of gymnastics. During the competitive season, usually November to March, you travel to competitions against other schools. At these competitions you showcase your skills on each event and a team of judges gives you a score based on the difficulty of your chosen skills and how well you…
