I stopped gymnastics when I became ill, but before the age of 16, I had won and competed in many gymnast ompetitions amd I had also preformed dozens of artist gymnastic plays alongside my team. My previous achievements include being the team captain for our artistic gymnastics team, where we preformed at the Edinburgh festival in 2008. Balancing my school life with the training required in gymnastics has been very demanding at times. I have gained experience of how to cope in a stressful and challenging enviroment and I know how to deal with pressure but also how to enjoy the success which comes from all of the hard work and dedication. In addition to this, I have learned about commitment as well as how to handle a loss, and also how to be a humble victor. The things I have learned from gymnastics will help me throughout my life; not only during University, but during my career and long afterward due to the precision, team work and dedication it takes to be a…
Before I had turned four, I was dancing. I loved it from the moment I walked in for my first class at the age of three. That year I was one of the youngest girls at my dance studio. Now at the age of eleven, my love for dance continues.…
The most memorable thing that happened to me was when I first discovered what I’m really good at. I came across inspiring Youtube videos of old classic Roller Derby and recent ones that were published only a year ago, I knew from the moment I laid eyes on those quads that I had to try it. In less than two weeks I was a complete natural at skating, I was all about skates. I practiced all the derby stances, exercises, techniques you name it I am absolutely in love with this sport. but as much as I fantasized about doing it I never thought that I’d actually get the chance to be part of their world and have training by the Derby Dames Juniors Freshmeat Association crew, which are ranked the top thirty-one in the united states!…
Role playing for me is very anxiety inducing. I am not a good public speaker and I hate it when all the attention is on me. I am an introvert to the core. Going into the role play I was nervous and uncomfortable and was anticipating a challenging experience. After seeing the other role plays I knew that the topic I would cover would not be an easy one, but honestly in life when in life are topics ever easy?…
Because I was always one of those kids that never felt comfortable doing any sport, when I discovered that I had a talent for dancing, I was overjoyed. I started dancing during my fifth grade year of school. Immediately I became infatuated with the art. Working very hard my sixth grade year enabled me to join my academy’s dance company. One day during my musical theatre class while doing a combo something wasn’t right. My right leg had a twinging pain and when I did the big kick at the end of the combo, I knew I had pushed myself too far. What should have been the beginning of a long dance career turned into a very long year and a half search of trying to find a way to heal whatever was wrong. It was an experience that I’ll never forget.…
As far as I can remember I might have been about 4 or 5 at the time and my mother registered us I mean herself and me in a gym for ding exercises in different sport majors . My mother had aerobic class and I joined gymnastic class with other girls in my age and I had a nice dress for it with a pale pink color with an veil skirt. I had a friend there who her name is Mozhde and our characters were really far from each other . We were always fighting together because of her arrogance . Although I was totally kind and humble she was proud and rough.…
As I look to the scenery I acknowledge its beautiful details. It is a wonder of the world that soon may fell between the cracks. A place that I will cherish all my life, a place that is one of a kind. Two hundred places I’ve seen only once. Vivid in my memory for a few years and but soon may be forgotten. But this did not. It will remain in me forever, and as scroll up it reached the end. The end of my photo album I have in my phone last summer vacation I had with my…
So one day my friends and I all thought of a sport we could all do together we all had the same idea we thought it was an amazing idea. Trampoline, so we all met up at my house and I have a trampoline. The we all sat down and thought where we were always going to do it and when. So we decided on having a “practice”. the first one was at my house and we do it 2 times a week, or try to at least. The second one was at Parker my friends house. So we practice tricks like backflips fulls and other tricks like that, I thought it was fun.…
I was always one of those kids that never felt comfortable doing any sport. So when I found out that I had a talent for dancing, I was overjoyed. I started dance during my 5th grade year of school. I immediately fell in love with the sport. I was obsessed with it. I worked very hard my 6th grade year to be able to join my dance academy’s company, and I had finally made it into the company, when things went south. One day, during my musical theatre class I was doing a combo that my teacher, Jessica Childs, had given my class. When my best friend Lauren and I were doing the combo I knew something wasn’t right. My right leg had a twinging pain, and when I did the grande botama at the end of the combo, I knew I had pushed myself too far. Over the next year and a half, I would go through the long search to find a way to heal whatever was wrong. It was an experience that I’ll never forget.…
I was in gymnastics since kindergarten I was on competition and my mom always said I would never make it to the team which I wanted but I knew I couldn’t i wasn’t as experienced, but I really enjoyed it, but I could never get as flexible but i was really good at skills rather than flexibility, but I kept getting bored of it because I didn’t move up a level that year so it made my dream hopes go down so it makes me miss it more everytime I think about it…
This semester I worked on increasing my muscular strength. I feel that overall I was successful in my goal. Determination made me successful along with the help of a fitness app called “Lose It!”. The drive to eat the food that my body needed to gain muscle. The drive to work out and to push myself to the max. I had to really want to achieve my goals to succeed. Tracking my diet and activity in the Lose It app showed me information I was unaware of in my everyday life. I learned that it is actually very hard to eat as much food as my body needed to gain muscle. Not only that, but also that the food I ate had to be healthy. I learned that the activity’s that I was doing didn’t burn as many calories as I had originally thought. The food I was eating did not come close to containing the nutritional value I needed. I had to eat more food. Which is harder than most would think because the food needs to be healthy. My family has a relatively healthy lifestyle which made this behavior change relatively easy.…
When I was very young I went to preschool and got involved in dance and gymnastics, which took up a great amount of my time and first got me involved in athletics. I also played soccer and swam competitively. As I got older and progressed through the public school system I became more involved with track and skiing, and less involved with dance and gymnastics. However, even though I am not currently involved in any kind of competitive athletics, I remain very active, and still love to ski and swim whenever possible!…
It was a grey day in Little Rock Arkansas and I had to meet with the brilliant Stephanie Thibeault. I walked in her office and notice the mood of the room. It felt happy but a sense of seriousness drowned over the recurring energy of happiness. I looked over to the right and saw this chair next to her desk, she greeted me in with a smile and told me to sit down. She had a soft sacked chair next to her desk. “How’s your day” she had said to me while looking at her laptop. “It has been a good day, I just can’t wait to leave next week.” I responded to her. I have been in her office before but coming in with a clear objective made me notice a lot. All of her dance…
I can discuss my dance background and how I initially got into dancing. This will intrigue people as many people have no dancing background and might want to know what might have persuaded me into pursuing it for over 10 years.…
At the age of two my parents decided I had too much energy and they enrolled me in my first gymnastics class. As a female you train four events: vault, bars, beam, and floor. I went to class once a week for two years and at the age of four I joined the competitive team. As a competitive gymnast, you train year round and a minimum of 10 hours a week is spent in the gym. Some schools even require additional classes in ballet in order to improve the dance side of gymnastics. During the competitive season, usually November to March, you travel to competitions against other schools. At these competitions you showcase your skills on each event and a team of judges gives you a score based on the difficulty of your chosen skills and how well you…
