Personal Narrative: My Five Strengths
My five strengths, in order, are Deliberative, Adaptability, Relator, Competition, and Command. My reaction when I viewed the responses was surprising because I felt that the strengths given were mostly an accurate representation on how I see myself. When reading the description of each strength, I agreed with most of the things listed in the paragraphs. However, there were some things I disagreed with as well.
When reading about the Deliberative strength I agreed with most of it. I am a private person who believes the world is an unpredictable place with many risks. I select my friends carefully, I don’t believe life is a popularity contest. I walk with care. Some things I disagree with is I don’t plan ahead to figure out if things could

My boyfriend and I come from very different backgrounds. He is more of a country boy and I am a city girl. It’s just who we are, and where we grew up but having adaptability allows me to step out of my comfort zone and try the things he likes to do. For example, he goes hunting a lot and I have never thought about hunting in my life. I try to adapt to his lifestyle and I tried shed hunting. It is nothing too crazy, but I still would have never done it if I didn’t met him. This strength has a very positive impact with our relationship, it keeps things interesting and creates happiness. This also helps with our communication because allowing me to adapt to him gives us something to always talk about and it makes me happy to hear him talk about the things he …show more content…
My father and I are not very close. Being deliberative really impacts our communication we have with each other because I am a very private person. Since our relationship is not good I really don't like to express myself with him. He hurt me a lot in my past, so now and in the future, I just make sure I am very careful around him. I still love him because he is my dad, but being a private person can make it seem like we dislike each other. My strengths may cause some issues with my personal relationships, but I believe they do more good than

My actions are always a direct showcase of my personal characteristics. A few that are particularly important are having patience, being non-judgmental, and thinking creatively. I learned a majority of my patience through my position as a research position. Research does not have immediate results; a good experiment takes time. My seemingly menial tasks, such as entering data, eventually contributed to the final product. I learned to be non-judgmental in my time shadowing an obstetrician, where I interacted with patients with so many stories. To judge them would cause a disservice, and potentially harm them. Finally, I learned to think creatively during my time at the Guild for Human Services. Each student was unique in his or her problems,…

Now I’m going to talk about my positive traits. I like helping people, if there is something I can do, I will do it. I believe that when you do something good for other people you get two things 1, the satisfaction of helping and two, God will reward you for the good action. According to my family I’m a joyful person I’m always smiling and making people laugh. Like I said in the beginning, I don’t like showing people my weaknesses and that includes when I’m sad or depress. I prefer keeping it all to myself and act like everything is okay. I put others first than me, I think that is something good because it doesn’t make me a selfish person. Another positive trait that I will always be thankful to my parents is showing me good manners and to…

The advice that was given to me about writing my personal statement is that whatever I wrote, it must be a statement that came directly from the heart. I’ve found that in order to do this, I must actually write about my heart. When I was born, doctors discovered that I had a ventricular septal defect. The defect needed to be repaired, or I would have been wheelchair-bound and not lived past my fifth birthday. The experience of my heart surgery was not only life-altering for me, but for my parents as well. I was their first-born child, and they had just purchased their first home. It is hard enough to learn the ropes of becoming a parent - but to be the parents to a very ill child was something they had never prepared for. They always…

My whole life I have been a leader, the rule maker, the boss, a take charge and a "get stuff done" type of person. These qualities I attribute to being the oldest sibling, raised by a strong mother, and a stepfather determined to raise another man’s child as best he could. I thrive in situations where I can have control and can help guide a team or myself to the best possible outcome. I apply these characteristics to nearly every aspect of my life, sometimes to a fault. After dropping out of college eight years previously, to follow my dreams of being a makeup artist, I woke up one day and decided my life need a change. Not completing school had always weighed on me over the years like an unfinished task needing to be done. So, why now, what changed? My outlook on life shifted after meeting a special little boy named Jackson.…

After completing the StregthsQuest survey, I learned that my five greatest strengths are Harmony, Competition, Achiever, Includer, and Communication. Some of these strengths I had previously recognized as a strength, but a few were a surprise to me. Growing up, I was always a competitive person. I enjoyed the thrill of winning, whether it be in a team effort or individual effort. Also, I have always wanted to achieve great things in both my personal and professional life. I believe that I have always been great at communicating with others and love to include others in everything that I do to achieve a goal. The biggest strength of mine that surprised me most was Harmony. However, after reading about each strength, I know how I have utilized…

A personal quality that is important to me is my willingness to try new things. This quality did not surface until I graduated high school-- I felt somewhat restricted during those years. After my first semester at community college the eagerness to explore new activities, and learn about new topics began to appear. Because of this quality-- a quality that can sometimes hide amongst the rest-- I would not have discovered by passion for my desired major.…

My two core values are Family and Faith. My top priorities in life are God and my family. It wasn't hard for me to choose my top two core values because I know that with God and my family I am able to achieve the other things. My family were the first people to provide me with love, happiness, friendship, and wisdom. They have been here for me every step of the way and as I am getting older, everything I strive to be and to do is ultimately to help them and make them proud. Faith is very important to me and that is something that my family has taught and instilled in me. Everything I do is for the approval of God. I have learned that hat God has for me is for me. Therefore, I am able to achieve success, peace, status, and wealth if that is…

Honesty, authenticity, genuineness, bravery, and valor are my top strengths. I was shocked by these results not only because I feel they are extremely accurate, but these are the things I value most in life, especially honesty, I feel that you can hate a man to the core, but if that man is a truly honest man you can only respect him. I want to be an epitome of a truly honest man, and I believe my character strengths will help me achieve this goal. My bottom strengths were the love of learning, self-control, and regulation. I feel these strengths are just as important as my top strengths, and I need to maximize them all in order to become a great leader. Another strength value is using my sense of sensibility when addressing problems in the community; this is according to my ethical lens results. I am in the middle on these results, I believe that you must use sensibility but also need to be rational. If I was to favor one over the other it would have to be rationality. One strength attribute that I appreciate a whole lot is the tradition strength. I think this strength can go a long way of helping myself and others out, being able to learn from others that have been in my position and analyzing their decisions benefits me. Some may overlook this attribute; I on the other hand value this trait and have been taught this attribute from an early age and then again in the…

Football has always been a big part of my life. As a young boy I would day dream of making insane touchdowns, making tackles that would leave man stuck in the ground, and even winning the heisman trophy. In 7th grade I had begged my mother endlessly to sign me up for pee wee football because she would always worry about the risks of football. After finally getting her to sign me up, we went straight into the season. I chose to play running back because as a 12-year-old I was remarkably fast having timed 5.3 in the 40 yard-dash. After a few weeks in the season we approached the playoffs and found out our opponent for the first round of the playoffs were the jaguars who were undefeated. Our team didn’t have the best chemistry on…

Our beliefs are what drive everyone’s attitudes, values, and ultimately behaviors at work. Core beliefs can originate from a negative or positive place. My own core beliefs developed from my childhood and through my life experiences. I must prove I am good, strong and brave. I must prove that I am not weak, worthless, or dependent. I believe in forfeit my own needs in the service of others. If I don’t, I often feel guilty, and compensate by putting the needs of others ahead of their own. I believe I am responsible for the happiness of very close friends and family members. These core beliefs rooted in responsibility self-sacrifice come from having to take responsibility for family members in my youth, such as taking care of my brother and sister while my mother was at work or checking up on my grandmother while she’s home alone.…

In my experience in writing, my greatest strength has been being able to understand different types of writing quickly with little error. If I read a piece of information I can find the meaning of the piece of writing presented to me and other types of literary data easily. Although I can understand and define information easily, my weaknesses involve me having to elude some writings that I may not fully understand for long periods of time. If I read someone’s work and I do not understand it completely or immediately I have a tendency to procrastinate on reading or finishing the anything which I right. An example of my weakness would be this assignment, I think about what I want to write but cannot think of it right away, so in the end the…
