My personal learning style is doing. I learn best from the hands on approach of getting in to a topic or job and attempting to complete it on my own. This allows me to see my mistakes and not have them be prevented before they happen, which allows me to note the problem and fix it. I find it much harder to learn using concrete experience and reflective observation. The fact that both these styles are much harder for me to learn from effects my overall learning style because of how I learn, just watching someone else complete a task is not enough for me to learn by.…

This summer I went Princess Anne, Maryland for a six-week to a science bridge program and this was my first time ever being away from my parents and this was difficult because I depend so much on my parents and being that they were not there was going to be challenging. When I applied for the program I had high expectations that it would be a great experience for me and that I would learn new information about my major and also have the chance to meet new friends all while being away from home. For me being so far from home was such a challenge being that Usually I with either my parents or brothers, so when I was away from my family I was home sick while I was there. I would call my family several times throughout the day while I was away from home. I was not able to enjoy myself while I was in Maryland because I could only reflect about being back with my family. I did not like my experience so much that would find simple issues to be upset about, such as the music played on the vans or how fast they would drive the vans going to field trips.…
For my first biology test I received a grade that I am not proud of. To be completely honest the night before the test I attended a concert and didn’t get to sleep until two in the morning. This optical is defiantly something that I could have avoided. I should not have attended the concert, or at least I should have prepared myself weeks in advance knowing that I had a concert the night before. This is my second time taking the class and I expected better out of myself. I made the same mistake I did last year by not studying till the week of the test. A person who made an enormous impact on my life was my eighth grade math teacher. I'd had failed my seventh grade TAKS test and had to take a second math class for the year. I was extremely furious and disappointed that I had to take yet another math. I was and still am terrible at math, which just made the situation even worse. Within the first week, I kept failing my assignments, which was making my grade plummet. I came to my regular math teacher for help for my assignments to raise my grades. However, the way the teacher was explaining the math made absolutely no sense to me in any way. On June 12, 2006, I was ready to board my flight at San Diego International airport, when I was given a once in a lifetime experience. As I began to board, the captain and first officer were greeting the passengers ahead of me. The line was moving very slowly; however, I eventually made it to the front. Growing up I spent most of my childhood in Vietnam living an ordinary life. My parents were not risk-takers until they decided to quit their career as educators and move to the United States. Reading the very diverse research papers, I gain wonderful information of things I could (and will) implement in my classroom with my ELs.
