Personal Narrative: My First Playing Baseball
Before I was first playing baseball I wasn’t very good and didn’t understand it, I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off. I played t-ball and parent pitch and it was very fun, I could never really hit, but I could field pretty well, and I was always better than my peers. My parents loved baseball and were always very encouraging of how I played baseball, and how bad I was. Once I turned an unassisted triple play, Which means that I got 3 outs all by myself, In the same play to end the inning. Until kid pitch i didn't know the game of baseball. I would constantly get hit by pitches cause I was a left handed batter, and pitchers at that age couldn’t throw me any strikes and would constantly walk me. Any time I got a pitch to hit I would hit pretty far and get a double or a triple.
While I was 11 in the summer I went to see this hitting instructor, For my swing, He also made my swing more consistent. Not only did he help my swing, but he helped me realize how much fun baseball can be. I was playing school baseball when I

So we kinda knew we were gonna win, but we didn’t want to jinx it and lose. We had a fantastic game and won 14-1. I had a total 0 plays out in the outfield and that sure was a whole lot of fun. I went 3-4 when I was batting which is ok but I could have gone 4-4, Since I wasn’t seeing the ball out of the pitcher's hand I was late on the ball and was all in all, a bad game. Our season was doing really well and ended really poorly, It ended by us losing 9-1, We were not happy nor were we upset that we lost. but we understood we needed to get better. Whereas High school baseball is gonna be way better cause we don’t play the same teams we play easier teams. Which is nice because we will win much easier and not have any competition. The high school team consistently wins regionals which is cool and they have been to state a couple

When the first game came I was extremely happy yet nervous also. We ended up winning the game by the score of three runs to two although I did not get to bat at all and was put in only for two innings of defense. I was disappointed that I did not get to play much but I was happy with the win. Our second game was the next day and I hoped to get more playing time then. When that day came it turned out that we were playing an extremely skilled team. We were losing three to one in the last inning and I still hadn’t played at all the whole game. One of my friends hit a double and then another one of my teammates hit a single to knock him in to score. The score was now three to two and we had a chance to come back. My coach then decided that we needed someone faster on the bases so he called for a…

Everybody from the team was there at the field. If you looked at our team you might think that we were just a bunch of small town screw-offs. We definitely gave the other team that impression as we warmed up. Our team didn’t take things too seriously. In the batting cages, we practiced our home run swings, and trots. The infielders, including me, bare handed the ground balls hit to us by one of the coaches, and jump threw the ball back to the first baseman pretending we were young Derek Jeters. The outfield dove at every ball that was hit at them. Even if the ball was coming straight at them, they ran back and come forward again so they could dive and get the ball. Yes, we were a bunch of…

And to finish up that inning we just got a couple ground balls and we turned a double play. And for the next few innings nothing really happened both teams were struggling to hit. Now it's like the 5th inning and we have the top of our hitting order up so we had:Liam,Luke,Ryan,Alex as our 1,2,3,4 hitters. And we got a rally going and we scored a couple runs so at this point the score is 5-1 and we have the lead so then I go into the 6th inning to pitch and I can only do ⅔ of the inning so than Ryan comes in and pitches and to finish out the 7th Alex pitches a 3 strikeout inning. So the game was over and the presedent of the league gave me the game ball to keep and bring home and everyone on our team got a trophy to take home after we won we were all so happy that we won the championship because it was or a lot of people the first time they won something. The…

DO you have the skills it takes to play the game. CAN you hit a 98 mph fastball coming towards you or caught a line drive on a diving caught on the dime. Believe me more thought and talent is put into the game then you think. Baseball players put hours and hours of practice into the game. So practice and you won’t believe how much you’ve grown.…

The following morning, I skip bike practice again, but Doris goes anyway. At the office, Megan caters to me. On her way in, she stopped at Trader Joe’s to buy me a protein drink with antioxidants from Trader Joe’s, a bottle of chewable Vitamin C and a whole grain carrot muffin. I drink half the bottle and listen as she tells me, “Thom cancelled the development meeting, since he met with you the other day.”…

As I hear those words that I most deeply despise come out her mouth, it quickly led me to think that this woman did not know what she was talking about. Before she had said these words we were talking about our favorite sports and she said hers was basketball and I told her mine was baseball. “Baseball is boring to watch,” she said. Hearing someone say this about my favorite sport that I have been playing throughout my life irritates me and it brings my attention to wonder why people find this sport boring. People similar to this woman, believe that baseball is a boring sport yet they do not realize that it is actually one of America’s most exciting sports!…

My accomplishments in softball were second team third baseman for my freshman and sophomore year and my junior year I got the first team utility player. I have got voted team captain in softball. In softball we had two coach changes, out first coach was Mr. Chavez and the coach currently is Mr. Torgeson. These two men have different coaching methods and it was very hard to adjust. Chavez was all about the hitting and Torg was all about bunting. There overall look at how the game is played are completely different from each other. Therefore when he had a coaching change it was a big shock for me. As a freshman, I played on the varsity team and I really loved getting to have that experience. I loved playing softball and I have played since I was about 5. In Softball I seem to always hurt myself, I have hip problems and I just recently had surgery on my wrist because of softball. Therefore I learned that you need to take care of yourself and work out to keep everything attached. You also need to practice hard to succeed because in my opinion, I think hitting a softball is super hard and you need lots of practice succeed. Softball is a great example of you will fail first before you succeed because in softball there is three strikes and you might not hit the first pitch but you can hit the next one. Therefore batting in softball you might fail first before he succeed. “Never let the fear of striking out get in your…

As a child, I grew up carrying a baseball glove and a pearly white baseball wherever I went, hoping for the chance of finding a partner to play catch with. The game of baseball was never just a game for me; it was a lifestyle that I had fallen in love with. With that being said, the fundamentals of baseball had no immediate effect on me as a kid. However, as I have matured along with my love for baseball, I believe that the game my life has been centered around for nearly twelve years has shaped me into the person I am today.…

I was scared of playing softball once I got on the field ,because the ball moved so fast coming at me. Even though I am considered a skilled and impressive player, the game I love is all about failure. Players that fail seventy percent of the time are considered to be the best in the world. So this is where I developed the skill of mental toughness that I apply in life and baseball. In the summer of 2016, my high school baseball team made it to the state playoffs where the top teams played. College coaches were at the games along with hundreds of other fans. In our semi-final game, we were winning three-to-two…

Going into my senior year I still had the idea of, I can make it into a Florida school, I wanted to go to a Florida school to play baseball. So my senior year starting the baseball season with a new coach, I made my mind up, I’m going to work hard to stay in Florida and change my coaches mind. Through my senior year I was by far the best pitcher my ERA was under 1, I had 27 pick- offs in just one year. Also this year I was interviewed for being the hot shot of the week, an article in the newspaper. I was nominated for picking off 7 base runners in one game. I learned my pick off move from my coach in middle school before I knew my summer league coach. So I was still working with my summer league coach every once in a while at this point, but…

I had struck out most of the up-bats before that (I wasn’t necessarily the best baseball player back then). However, I was completely ready for the ball to come at me. I grasped the handle of the cold, hard bat tightly. The ball flew right over the home plate, and I hit it with all the power I had left in my body. The ball went soaring, looking like a white bird migrating south. The ball landed unquestionably far into right field, and as soon as it did, I started to sprint to first base. I decided that it would be safe to round to second base. I had already been past second base when the player playing right field got to the ball. I made it to third base, wondering if I could sprint home. I decided to wait, but I clearly could have ran to home plate. It took a while to process what had just happened. I had just hit a two-run RBI triple! I hadn’t even noticed the two runners on base come home, since I was really in the moment. Our team got through the inning, and it was my turn to pitch. This was only the second time that I had ever pitched while playing baseball! I ran out to the mound, and I started to warm up with the catcher. I rolled the hard, slightly dirty ball in my fingertips. “You can do this, Nathan,” I thought to myself nervously. “The whole team is relying on you.” After a bit of time, I was able to strike out two players and get a groundout to end the…
