Personal Narrative: My First District Tournament
Ten and a half pounds over the weight you have to be the day before the District tournament is not the place you want to be in. This may have been one of the worst days of my entire life. Running for hours wanting to give up, feeling like I was ready to pass out, sweating bullets, and body aching. Tasting the acid in my mouth, my stomach empty, and my head pounding. Skipping breakfast and lunch and not being able to drink or eat until a very light dinner was the worst.
The District tournament was Saturday February 25th and friday the 24th was in the running for one of the hardest days of my entire life. I woke up on the morning of the 24th, I walked into my bathroom and pulled out a scale to check my weight. I was freezing wearing only pajama

My heart won’t stop racing, I don’t know why and, My eyesight starting to fade away slowly like I had glaucoma. All the surrounding noise around me by the crowd had me going deaf, then I started to sweat from all the pressure around me like a morning workout. I was zoning out of nowhere, and then I started to realize I was nervous as heck. The crowd started to go wild when the announcers started to announce the starting five for each team. That’s the pressure I get every game I played that year of my freshmen year in my high school basketball games. I loved playing freshman basketball because the road trips we went to together. the thrill you get out of the games we played and lastly the team was like a family to me.…

Over the weekend I had a huge Soccer Tournament in Grey. We had two games on Saturday and one game Sunday. In the first game we played a Cumberland club team and beat them 2-0. In our second game we played Westbrook and won 5-0. So at the end of the day we were 2-0 and in first for our bracket, but winslow was also 2-0. Going into Sunday we had to beat South Portland by two goals and not let them score. We ended up tying them 3-3 and we got eliminated because Winslow beat Westbrook 4-0.…

Good Evening Mr. Forrest, this is Sean Anderson. I wanted to send this report involving the girl's basketball coach from Northeast Middle School. Me and Jason Collins were the officials at West Creek Middle School vs Northeast Middle School. The games started at 4:45. During the second game, which was the girl's basketball game, my partner Jason Collins made a ruling against Northeast in the 4th quarter. The girl's head coach did not like the ruling and venting her frustrations toward us. She screamed" her player was not there for the foul". While I was administering the free throws I heard her screaming and gave her the stop sign signal and told her ok that's enough. I didn't administer no technical foul even though she continue…

The intense roaring of the crowd gradually faded into the vast abyss of his mind. As the last seconds ticked away, his breath got heavier and he knew that it was now or never. He knew he had to make the shot, he could not just mess this one up. At that last moment when the ball left his hands flying into the air, time seemed to have slowed down as the buzzer went off simultaneously.…

My first year of storm soccer began in the 6th grade. I was nervous to start my first competitive soccer season. The thing that helped me out the most was that I knew we had a new coach in the program so we all were starting new. The first day of practice he talked to us and we all got to become closer by talking about ourselves and why we are playing the game of soccer.…

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself” is a phrase that stays true to everyone especially during your freshman year of highschool. When I was fourteen, my baseball team went to a spring showdown baseball tournament. Spring showdowns have always been my favorite type of tournament since I played 10u travel ball. Although now I have a different perspective on these tournaments. On the way home from this particular tournament my face look like a baboons buttocks, with a big red swollen eye that was surrounded by brown and purple bruise. This was from a fouled off baseball, and I will never forget the event or the decisions I had to make. As a freshman I had to learn how to make educated, courageous, and tough life decisions.…

It was the day that I had been contemplating for weeks. It was finally my first softball game as an Outlaw, and I was as nervous as long-tailed dog in a room full of rocking chairs. I was determined to defeat the rival team as the pitcher. I wasn’t feeling very confident in the first few innings of the game. Then, it hit me. Something snapped inside of me that made me so furious that we were losing. What happened next blew my mind into pieces.…

It was the summer of 1991. I had a day off from working at a summer camp in South Lake Tahoe, CA, so I decided to hike Mt. Talac, 10 miles, often running. I chose to hike alone, without water, and I did not check the weather. It turned out to be a hot day with no breeze. I brought a juice box and told myself I wouldn't need more. When I got thirsty, I melted a handful of snow. When I returned to camp, I was clammy, shaking, ash gray, had a splitting headache, and felt nauseous. I looked and felt awful; the camp nurse said I had heat exhaustion. It took over a day to recover. Don't be lazy. Always have plenty of water. I'm lucky I survived that…

I couldn't be more excited to finally play on a girls golf team starting this next Monday! After having three concussions ending my soccer career, my dad came to me and suggested I join the golf team. As a freshman, I joined the boys team at Slinger High School. Most of the guys accepted the idea of a girl playing with them. Many helped me out and treated me like any other teammate, which definitely calmed my nerves for the first few weeks. I competed in almost all the matches. The first few matches were very scary because I got many strange looks from other teams. My teammates were always there for me though. I became so comfortable and by the end of the season I made many friends and accomplished a lot as an individual. I found myself in…

In seventh grade I wanted to tryout for volleyball. I was very nervous because I had never played it before. I was super happy when I found out all my friends and I made the team. We had a lot of practices in December to get ready for games in January. I was really nervous for our first game. Our first game was supposed to be right after christmas break ended, but we had a snow day so it was cancelled. I wished it hadn’t been so I could just get it over with, but i was gonna have to wait. We were scheduled for another game later that week. I woke up with a phone ringing and an answering machine saying that school was cancelled due to boiler issues. I sat in bed thinking I had once again gotten lucky and we had no game, I was wrong. We were…

It was a Friday, in late may, when I felt I failed myself the most. I had completed three of four "maxes", or the most amount of weight possible on one certain lift, for one rep, and I was coming up on my final one. I had done well so far - I'd gone up twenty pounds in bench…

Later on in the day, I was heading to P.E. I remember it was a Thursday but we had to run the track on Thursdays. I wasn't looking forward to it but I hate running; I was hoping it would rain or that there was a fire drill. Every time I would go running the sweat would get in my eyes and burn really badly. Once the tardy bell rang I began to change into my gym clothes, I tried to prolong this process much as I can. When I was done getting…
