Personal Narrative: My First Day At Mt. Lebanon High School

Good Essays
Imagine walking down the hallway towards my new classroom with all new people, heart beating, beads of sweat on your head, hands shaking. That was me on my first day at Mt. Lebanon Elementary. I had moved schools many times before, but this one in particular was extremely nerve-racking because I knew that I would be with the majority of these people for the rest of my school career. As I walked into the classroom I, almost immediately, thought I could tell who the mean and nice people were. The first popular (or what I had considered popular at the time) person I noticed was a girl with platinum blonde hair, who I automatically put under the “mean” category in my mental chart. I made a mental note to avoid her because I didn’t want my feelings to get hurt and figured I was better off without her in my life. …show more content…
I had done a pretty good job, considering the circumstances. All until that one fateful day that I got partnered with her on an assignment in class. I tried to be all cool about it, but on the inside I was thinking “What if I’m too awkward?” and “Wait, what if I’m too stuck up?” As it turned out, Emma was actually really nice, and we began to hang out over the next couple of months. Soon, school was out for the summer, and we didn’t talk much over the summer. In fifth grade, we picked back up and I soon had my own little group of friends. In the second half of fifth grade, I saw Emma turn into exactly what I had thought she would be like at first sight. It was bad, and a lot of drama got started. We got into a lot of trouble, but still remained enemies. This carried on until 6th grade when one of our teachers addressed the problem. We somehow put our problems behind us and there has been no more drama since

the doors of high school on the first day of school, I had little to no care about two things. I didn’t care about how weak my muscles were and I certainly didn’t care enough to do my homework right when I got home. It is December now and I care a whole lot more than I originally did. I took longer in the morning or I’d spend 15 minutes before I go to bed to pick to pick out my outfits, I’d cram before exams or quizzes, I’d pay attention more in class and procrastinate less after school for homework…

I was fully optimistic that the day would go well, but it did not fall in the plan that I believed it would. It was the same routine in a new environment. My first day at Larned High School started like every first day before me. The principal, Mr. Langdon, gathered all the students and welcomed us into a new school year. The speech as long but informational. It was a familiar speech that I had heard every first day of school. Unfortunately, this familiarity would end, and now I was stuck roaming…

It was my first day of practice for high school swimming. There I was- a scrawny freshman, idolizing these upperclassmen who towered above me. Being the only freshman in my class, my coach had me train alongside these giants. I remember the countless morning practices, which always involved grueling endurance sets, where my teammates lapped me constantly while I struggled to make the intervals; feeling disappointed in myself, but determined to continue working hard in order to catch up to my teammates…

early morning I experienced the unexpected, which changed my perspective of life and how fast things can go bad. Everything went into slow motion, a few seconds felt like one minute; I would have never seen this coming in such a short time. I was tired and my face was numb; I forgot my face mask at my uncle’s house. I wasn’t in any rush to get home but the wood stove and my comfortable bed was a pleasing thought. The headlight on my snowmobile was only shining about ten feet in the distance…

MOVING DAY Waking up to an average morning walking outside in the crisp morning air to get breakfast for myself. After I ate I headed for school to finish those standardized tests at the end of 6th grade. So far my class did well and was eager to get them over with. light creeped out from behind my curtains into my bedroom on a cool Fall morning, rising me up from my sleep. Once I had gotten myself dressed, I shuffled downstairs to my kitchen and poured myself some life cereal and milk. As soon as I had finished the rest of my daily routine that got me ready for school, my mom drove me and my sister off to Finley Farms, which was the school we attended. The school day went by as usual and slinked away, but after a few subjects my class, along with the other 5th…

The first day is always the hardest. You go from being the leaders of the school, to the babies of the school. It was the first day and everybody was full of both excitement and fear. I looked around, I saw a bunch of crowded newbies all around me, anxiously awaiting the bell, at the start the only person I could recognise was Chiara. Chiara is one of my best friends; we went through primary school together. Gradually more and more people showed up, until I could barely move. A few of them…
