Personal Narrative: My First Day At Larned High School
I was fully optimistic that the day would go well, but it did not fall in the plan that I believed it would. It was the same routine in a new environment. My first day at Larned High School started like every first day before me. The principal, Mr. Langdon, gathered all the students and welcomed us into a new school year. The speech as long but informational. It was a familiar speech that I had heard every first day of school. Unfortunately, this familiarity would end, and now I was stuck roaming the halls in a new school looking for my first class.
Biology was my first and became my favorite class at Larned High School. My instructor, Miss Moser, started off the year with a stern no-nonsense policy. For the first two weeks, I did not dare speak, and I did not wish to cause any trouble. The first things that we started doing involved reviewing what the class should already know. Being one of the older students in the class allowed me the chance to help the freshman find their way. This not only helped me develop relationships with the upperclassmen but the freshman as well. My next class was sophomore English. Coming from Miss Moser’s strict all business mentality to a more relaxed learning environment allowed the day to go much smoother. There were many pranksters in that class. Sometimes it was hard to take Mr. Wagner seriously because he enjoyed having a good time with

The hardest part was coming from a school where my whole class was 15 students to a class of 70 students. At my old school, I knew everybody and everything about them. I was a quiet person who minded my business and even sat by myself at the lunch table; however, this did not last long. During the first full week of school, I joined the Cross Country team. I had never run cross-country up to this point but wanted to try something new. Being a former football player, I shared a connection with some of the

I dreaded the alarm that woke me up at 6:30 in the morning. It was as loud as a screaming toddler that could be heard for miles. I groggily got out of bed and got ready for my first day of school. It was a weird feeling not putting on a uniform like I had been for the past nine years, but I also enjoyed that freedom. The nervousness became more and more intense as I could closer and closer to campus. When we arrived, I got out of the car, and watched my dad drive off to go take my younger sister to school. There was no going back now; I had no other choice than to walk through those doors. I felt like my throat was in my stomach. I noticed some familiar faces, and I walked towards them. While I was approaching my friends, a senior, facing toward me, walked passed. He must have been at least six feet tall, which was incredibly intimidating for me at just over five feet. I was not used to the fact that I’d potentially have classes with these giants. Additionally, the array of new teachers, and having to learn all of their teaching styles and things they did or did not tolerate was hard in…

I walked into the classroom to see all my new pupils, I was nervous at first but then Miss Maudie introduced me to the class and everything was fine. I wrote my name on the board and told them what it said and where I am from. The class just murmured back to me. I started the day by reading the children a story about cats, I think they liked it but then again some of them did seem immune to imaginative literature. After reading I went to the blackboard and printed the alphabet in large capitals. I wasn’t surprised that everyone knew what they were seeing as most of the first grade had failed last year and where now back again for me to teach them.…

Mrs. Johnson has always been known as one of the hardest teachers at Bayou Academy, but on my first day of seventh grade, I was able to experience just how good she lives up to her reputation. It was a very nerve-racking day for me, being in high school for the first time scared me. But, there was something else about this day that scared me even more and that was going to Mrs. Johnson's class. As I walked into her classroom for the first time, I realized I wasn't the only one scared. The students already sitting in their desks all had pale faces and looked as if they had seen a ghost. We were all scared of failure. The first day…

I do not know why I was an emotional wreck since this was not my first time being the new kid. I walked into Mrs. Jenkins’s class, and I could just feel the noise getting sucked into the air. It is dead silent, and every student is staring as if I was some alien. Not even five minutes in and I already felt so uncomfortable. Later, recess came, and almost half of my peers came running towards me, throwing random questions at my face. I felt so overwhelmed that I would just stare at them and not say a single word.…

The first day of my class was towards the end of the first trimester. It was crazy knowing I had to start a new trimester in a different class; it was crazy because when the teacher would send a student out with him the class will go nuts because they had “free time” and got away from class work for a couple of minutes. After a couple of days in the class it just went from a fun class to a disaster. I’m not such a fast writer and well when it came to taking notes in Mr. U Jimenez class it wasn’t so good for me. I wrote as fast as I could but unfortunately I wasn’t fast enough. Before I could finish my notes the power point would change and both the class and I wouldn’t have a chance to finish. On the first day of class I also witnessed that the teacher called five different student parents for bad behavior. Knowing that the first day was like this I thought a lot about what the rest of the school year would be like.…

    Surviving College

College is like an unopened book with no title; you haven’t the slightest clue as to what’s to come, but you know you’re going to learn something new. I remember stepping into my first college class. I was filled with terror not knowing whom to expect in my class. As I walked in and looked around, I saw about twenty other people scattered about the room staring directly at me. I tried not to make eye contact with anybody, so I walked straight to an empty desk in the back and sat down. About twenty-five minutes after the professor began his lesson I had become drowsy and about to fall asleep. I tried to stay up but couldn’t resist. I awoke thirty minutes later to the ringing of the dismissal bell. The class was over, and I had felt horrible knowing nothing about what the class just learned. College can be a pretty tough place to get through, so know how to survive.…

I remember it like it was yesterday. Elementary school; second grade; Ms. Rubright’s class to be exact. We were being lined up like cattle going to the slaughterhouse, so we could go on a bathroom break in an orderly fashion. My teacher called on my table, and we stood up and walked over to the line being as quiet as church mice; since that was what was expected by our teacher. It almost seemed like a medieval form of punishment, the way they made us wait half a century before we could actually exit the classroom and use the restrooms. My friend, Matt, a chunky red-head who was always pushing his glasses up on his stubby nose, came to stand behind me after his table was called to line up. At the time I was happy to be standing in line to…

Right when I got out of the car, I had no clue where to go. I saw a couple of students who looked my age and I followed them to the assembly. There were around two thousand students who were studying in the school and there were over one hundred staff members in the school. My class schedule was hard for me to understand. I could not find my classes on time. Also, I couldn’t ask other students for directions because I did not know whether they were in my classes. My first class was Biology, and I was already late for the class. Fortunately, I saw a security guard walking around in the hallway, who helped me to find my class. That day for me was about to get a lot more complicated with locker trouble, and getting lost.…

In my first class, I was embarrassed because I was the only one late, and I sat in the wrong chair. I did not understand what the teacher was talking about or what we were supposed to do. At first, I thought no one knew each other, but right after she stepped out of class, everyone started talking to each other. They were all talking about what they did over the summer and how much fun they were going to have this year. As usual, I kept to myself and found out who knew whom, where I knew no one. I was thinking the whole time in class things would get better; you will know all of them soon.…

    First Day at College

My first day at college is a memorable day in my life. I had been earnestly waiting for that day for a long time, because I heard many things about college education from my elder brother and neighbors who were college students. I started feeling that they had the advantage of moving about with an air of superiority. At last the long-sought day came and it was the 20th of July, 2002. A new pulsation began to urge me since morning to start for the place where the college stands. So, it was quite early when I reached the college. I was loitering hither and thither until I met a friend. He advised me to take down the routine which was displayed in the notice board. He showed me the notice board. I went there and took down the routine. It was the first thing that I did on my first day at college. I started to experience that the system in the college was different from what I was accustomed to in the school. With the ringing of the bell announcing the end of a period, the students changed class-rooms unlike in a school where rooms were fixed for different classes. The professors looked comparatively grave and composed and not grim and frightening like school teachers. The students behaved with chastening politeness. Even the menial staff appeared relatively refined and cultured in their dealings. I did not know before that roll-call was done in each period. All that, in fact, gave me a new kind of experience. On that day I had three classes, scheduled for the third, fifth and sixth periods. In the third period I had English. The Professor came, called over the rolls; told us a few words of welcome and then focused on the importance of learning English. In the fifth period we had the professor of Math. I enjoyed the class very much, while in the sixth period, the professor of Logic and Philosophy gave us an introductory talk on Deductive logic. All teachers were past masters in their respective subjects and I felt proud to have become…

    My Dream Job

My first day in high school was so overwhelming. My heart was racing and my legs were shaking. I was excited and nervous at the same time. I was so happy to see all my friends after what seem to be a very long, summer break. Though I was glad to see all my friends, I could not help but think about what classes I was going to attend. Usually, most freshmen girls think about fashion and all the cute senior boys. On one hand, I was thinking about all the fun, exciting, and new activities that would take place as a freshman. On the other hand, I was more concerned about passing high school at the top of my class because this is where the real world begins. As I reached the classroom doors, my heart raced faster and butterflies began to flutter in my stomach. Before I entered the red door with the tall, black letters reading “Welcome Freshmen”, I took a deep breath as though I was getting prepared to perform on a stage in front of millions of people. Shaking inside my skin, I twisted the bronze doorknob and opened the door. I thought that the class would be quiet, but it was filled with at least twenty-five freshmen that were socializing with one another. I sat at the first empty desk in my sight. The teacher was not there yet, so I began to socialize with everyone else. Minutes later, the door swung open and our teacher entered. She was short in height and weighed about one hundred and forty-five pounds. She had black, silky, well-trimmed hair and wore plenty of makeup. Her eyes were brown and they were the size of an owl’s. She had a round face and a cute button nose. She walked over to her desk and neatly placed her books upon it. The frown on her face gave me an impression that she was mean but after her short, well-spoken introduction, my assumptions changed. She had the voice of a soprano and was a very nice and inviting woman. Her name was Mrs. Hutchinson. When she finished introducing herself, she handed the class our first…
