Personal Narrative: My Experience Of Tyroidism
I got my mother back
My fortunate day is the day I got my mother back from the death. It was about five years ago. My mother has got Hyperthyroidism. My father and I visited her at the hospital. When she woke up, she told us about the story during a long way to the hospital. She called, “My experience of Hyperthyroidism.” She started telling that when she was attacked by this symptom, her body was terrible shaking. Her co-worker phoned an ambulance to take her to the hospital. While the car was heading to the hospital, something bad happened. The car had to stop because of the ambulance’s siren could not be heard blaring and other users on the road did not give way to the emergency vehicle. Immediately, my mother was shocked, she could not

It was Monday, May 30th, 2011. My family was driving home from a hotel we were staying at in Virginia, after going to Kings Dominion for my birthday day the day before. On the way home, we stopped at a Cracker Barrel for breakfast. During our meal, we got a call from my aunt telling us that my uncle, my mother’s brother, was in the hospital. Only a few days before he had moved back to Guatemala without saying goodbye to me. Once we were back on the road, my mother continued to get phone calls updating us about what was happening down there, as each call came through we all became more and more anxious wait for the answer. Then it came it just wasn't the answer we were hoping for, my mother began pushing on the walls of the car as if they were…

It was 2009 and I had been in sixth grade for a couple of months. I was on the phone with one of my friends from school when my mom called through my door for me to come out into the living room. I ignored her and kept talking for a few minutes when she called me out again. I rolled my eyes and told my friend I would call her right back. I walked into the living room and it seemed odd to me that both my sisters and dad were all out there too. I watched my mom take a deep breath with my dad by her side. As she began to speak her voice shook and gloss covered her eyes. “The doctors found a lump in my last mammogram.” she said. “It came back as cancer. I’m going to have to get treatment but I’m going to be okay.” No one else said a word, we all…

To accomplish my goal I did some refreshment my nursing skill and producers before clinical. I reviewed my nursing skill and procedure to refresh my brain about how to administer parental injection, the right site for IM and S/C, and size and length of needles. I reviewed my health and physical assessment videos and review my nursing skill notes how to assess head to toe and pain scale, Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and CIWA Scale which helped me a lot to refresh my skills. Also, I looked up my previous clinical worksheets which reminded me some nursing diagnosis and…

Sadly, the tragic day came when I went to the nursing home and the CNA’s were outside to mom’s room. I asked “if they were getting ready to give her at bath or something?” They would not answer me, just then the nurse came out and told me that mom was gasping and that she could die at any time, so if I needed to call…

Week six was another amazing week that brought new experiences to my plate. On Wednesday evening, my clinical instructor and I ran Sr. Barn Buddies. This is a group of six teenagers that have autism. These individuals are great, but need help with appropriate social interactions and some personal care. Four boys and two girls attend the one and a half hour session every Wednesday evening. I was not really sure how to feel about doing this session because some of them can have behaviors and they are twice my size. These kids were awesome! They each seem to be somewhere different on the spectrum and all have something to offer to one another. These kids need help with socializing with each other, when they are at school or in the community. We worked on a project together, making sail boats that we could have a discussion about. If one of them needed help with part of it, they had to ask nicely. They could ask Duane or myself for help or ask one another for help. It was pretty neat to see them ask questions, offer advice and for myself to witness the positive interaction throughout the evening.…

We were so happy, I started explaining to her where we were, how the place looked like and that there was a big garbage can, as I explain tears dripped from my eyes. We hugged each other, cried, and stayed put right next to the garbage can. We finally saw my mother’s silver BMW car. We slowly walked towards the car, making sure that it was my mother or one of our parents are in there. I then saw my mother did something with her hand, I know what that meant to hurry up, I told my little cousins to hurry up and get in the car, we ran as fast as we could towards the car and got in. Since then my little cousins and I learned a very big and important lesson that we will never forget, it to your pacings with your family, close and to tell them that you need a break if you are losing your…

After completing three weeks of my clinical rotation at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Largo, I have found my experience to be not only educational, but also quite enlightening. I believe the true essential factors contributing to my experience included my clinical instructor’s guidance, as well as the other nurses and staff on my assigned floor. Through each one of my patient interactions and clinical days, I found them all helping me to better attain what was taught in the classroom by overall giving me exposure to real-world patient care.…

On August 3. 2012, shortly before I turned 22, my mother suffered from a severe subarachnoid hemorrhage (also referred to as a brain aneurysm). The day that changed my life forever was not dissimilar from any other normal day. I arrived at work and took to my duties when I received a composed, un-alarming call from my brother. He informed me he called an ambulance to have our mother transported to the ER because she was acting, “super weird.” He told me not to worry, it didn’t seem serious. My mother and I have such a special, close relationship so of course I was still worried. I could tell that he could hear the concern in my voice. He assured me not to be worried, that although the situation sounded dramatic, it didn’t seem as though she was in any danger. He suggested she was probably simply dehydrated or malnourished. Being that the ER was less than five minutes from my work, I figured I’d meet her there, just to be safe.…

I was sitting in a restaurant along with my parents. The restaurant was on the first floor and we could see the busy Western Express Highway from the window. I was watching the cars, buses, and trucks speeding by. Just then I saw a bus trying to overtake another bus, but the gap was a bit narrow. The bus driver lost control and his bus hit the divider. It ran on the divider for a few seconds and then to my horror, it overturned. “Oh God,” I shouted. The overturned bus skidded and stopped in the middle of the road. My father too was watching the incident as it happened. He immediately called the Police and Ambulance from his cell phone. Meanwhile a huge rush had gathered near the overturned bus. Luckily there were only a few passengers in the bus who started coming out of the bus from the emergency window one by one. They were all hurt and some of them were bleeding. The public helped them come out of the bus and made them sit on one side.…
