Personal Narrative: My Experience In The Concentration Camp
Before I came to the concentration camp, it was easy to be with your family but I have

been in the concentration came for almost 3 months. In the times I been in the camp, I met my

best friend, Graciela. Ever since I been in the concentration camp, life has been hard for

everyone. In the mornings, you are awakened by the kapos in the 4 in the morning where you

must raise and find your shoes to work. If someone stole your shoes, the person who took them

often means they are send to death. The beds in the concentration camp are the shapeless

straw mattress which you have to make a perfect bed in military manner. For washing, there is

a barrack and to reach the sanitary facility. You only have a couple of minutes, nearly in the

Morning.

Once we get back from work, we head back to over cabin and they do a

evening roll call. Sometimes the evening roll call may take hours but the last evening roll call

took about 10 hours because a prisoner wanted to escape the concentration camp.

Once the roll call was over, everyone would receive dinner which was “soup” with some

spared bread. Me and Graciela never enjoyed the food the concentration camp but we still need

to eat. After we all had finished our dinner, we all go back to our barrack but they never allowed

us to the barrack during the night. The block fuehrer is always waiting for us and our comrades.
The block fuhrer's are the ones who decides who lives and who dies. They were green triangles

which means they are real criminals. They always make us crawl, jump, and makes us run until

we faint but they allowed us to lie down on our straw mattress but it was uncomfortable to lie

down because there was like 5 other people lying down with me and Graciela and we all shared

only one blanket. When one person wanted to go to bed, everyone else had to follow.

The soldiers lacked various resources such as clothing and food. In Document B it Dr. Albigence Waldo states, "There comes a Soldier, his bare feet are seen thro' his worn out Shoes, his legs nearly naked from the tatter'd remains of an only pair of stocks". In other words, these soldiers wore their clothing to the point they worn out for being so used. Food was also scarce, and there were many mouths to feed. Around the camp soldiers cry ot "No Meat! No Meat!" (Document B. The cry out for meat shows how bad the group was lacking food. Luckily five Congressmen stayed for several weeks and helped out obtaining more clothing and food for them(Document B). However, sometimes help may not be within your reach.…

My camp is Dachau, the first Nazi concentration camp. Dachau was opened in 1933. The camp was built after Adolf Hitler became chancellor of Germany. This camp is in Germany to the south. This camp housed political prisoners at first, but it evolved into a death camp where thousands of Jews died. Most of the Jews who died in this camp died from disease and overwork or were executed.…

To live in a situation like this would be the most terrifying thing in the world, from the position I stand in now. But if I was already there in the concentration camp and had no other choice, to have a random Aryan kid bring food to me and help me out, keep me company; it would be wonderful. Probably the greatest challenge that people face there is the fact that they were once free and having to go from living the life they were living to being controlled by harsh people; that would be the hardest for me. That any little thing can get them killed. Also not knowing what you’re going to wake up to; that would be…

The people of Sighet faced horrifying conditions during their deportation to the death camp Auschwitz. They were transported in cattle cars for 4 days with almost no food or water, poor ventilation, crowded space, and unsanitary conditions. As Wiesel later wrote " Life in the cattle cars was the death of my adolescence."(Aikman, p.326.)…

Millions of Jewish civilians died in concentration camps due to the cruelty of the Nazi party (Rodriguez). “Jews were subject to beatings and harassment like the cutting of their beards” (Rodriguez). They were given meager rations of watery soup and bread, but it never put a stop to their starvation. According to Rodriguez, men often had no sleeping quarters, were not able to shower, and were almost never fed their tiny rations of food. Because of the lack of sanitation and food, diseases such as typhus spread throughout the camps. Furthermore, they were expected to work extremely physically demanding jobs despite their lack of nourishment and health. In fact, their mistreatment and work was specifically designed to weaken them until they died. Finally, the Jewish people were kept in a constant state of terror never knowing if they would live to see the next day…

My story starts with a grapple and a frantic air. That is how most of us were taken. Grabbed from our homes and lined up to be taken to concentration camps. Most of us were taken without a glance, but as the SS officers came in the door, one of them turned to stare at me eyes. I did not resist.…

When you smell food your stomach rumbles with hunger. Food is everywhere. It's all around us, it's our main resource to live. You can buy food from anywhere you want, but what about the World War Two soldiers, why couldn't they get whatever they wanted. World War Two soldiers had limited protein on their canned food back then, in this day and age you can get protein from anywhere. Food is a very scarce resource and it was relied a lot by the soldiers, in which they got small portions of it.…

Imagine yourself being trapped in a small metal box that gradually constricts your body. It squeezes you until your very being caves in and you breathe one’s last. This is how isolation in concentration camps transforms your tranquil soul into a raving madman. Night, a memoir by holocaust survivor and professor, Elie Wiesel, paints the horrors of isolation and how its knives will carve away your flesh and hope until there’s nothing but a vile corpse. In order to avoid the assured effects of this ‘solitary confinement’ in the concentration camps, having loved ones were beneficial because they needed one another to talk to, keep each other strong, and predominantly to keep each other sane.…

People always say family is everything and they are the people that get you through the rough times. My family always helps me through the rough times in my life, I cannot imagine how someone who is barley receiving any nutrients in their body can survive the emotional challenges of being in a concentration camp. I decided to go with the topic of families in the Holocaust because the Holocaust was one of the first genocides I thought of. When we were told to be more specific I thought what better than the family life during and after the Holocaust. I had heard stories of couples that were never reunited and children who never saw their parents again and I wanted to learn more about what really happened and any information I could. I read many personal stories while doing research, that really helped give me more of an insight of how hard it was to build your life back and find your…

I sit down and feel very uncomfortable. Slouching back, it is comfortable, and my body loosens. My head rolling to the side, I am at peace, finally. I think about if I will ever be able to return back to my homeland. My childhood has been quite eventful. There have been quite a few highs and way too many lows, I would describe it as an insignificant life. Yesterday we just moved out of the “old camp” because it was filled with too much-barbed wires and it struck my younger brother, Aki. I was surprised that they let us out because they usually don’t, we always had little freedom in these internment camps, I wish I could just leave. Life in this camp isn't very fun. Each family typically had a single room in tarpaper barracks. We always ate…
