Personal Narrative: My Experience In Her Trailer
I had notice this face from a few weeks back when I came in her trailer. She had nothing unusually that she wouldn't have dress on before. Her head was down, and she made her best attempt to seem happy. Something in my heart knew something was wrong, but having fun in her trailer and watching t.v shows that I could not see in my house because of my chores over weigh the little things I noticed.

When asked to write about a childhood experience most people think of the time they lost their first tooth when they were 6, or about the time they started school when they were 5, however, I’m going to write about summer. “I got this! I got this! Just calm down and take position. You have prepared yourself for this race all morning.” “Just take your position and breathe.” “Why is my heart pounding like this?” “Inhale and exhale.” This is normal for UWA freshman Sarah McMillion on race day. She constantly overthinks and worries about her performance. Her nerves even cause her to wake up early to prepare.…

One of the most motivational people I have ever been blessed to have in my life would be Sandra Price, also known as Sandy. When I was in first grade, I remember walking into my Sunday-school class and noticing that there was a new volunteer. At the time I was a very chatty seven year old, who would usually be timed when talking in class because I apparently spoke “too much.” Sandy was an older woman in her early forties who had just began volunteering in the children’s ministry. The class went on, and we eventually split into small-groups to discuss the topic of fear and how to overcome it. Sandy had been asking the rather shy girls what scared them. No one had shared one of their fears, so I volunteered myself first. “While watching my ghost show last night, there was a story about one of the…

There has been many cases in which I have helped an outsider feel welcome. One time in particular is when I played tag with this little boy at church since he was new and no one else played with him. Originally, I was outside eating candy and talking to my friends at church. I noticed that this little boy was standing all alone watching all the other little kids play without him. I thought that maybe he was upset so I went over to him and asked if he wanted the rest of my gummy worms. He seemed nervous at first, but eventually he started talking to me. I learned that he was five years old and he was visiting his grandparents for the weekend. His older brother was outside playing basketball with some of the other older boys at the church, and…

I always keep this poem and picture in my wallet. I take it everywhere with me because it means quite a lot to me in two very different ways. One of those ways is because it holds sentimental value. When I was younger I learned to read very late in life and I was always so embarrassed of that. My father knew that I was struggling and bought me the book, Where the Sidewalk Ends. It is a book full of poems and little pictures written by Shel Silverstein. I remember opening the book to ta random page, and it was the page with this poem. I then remember my dad asking me to read it to him. I was so uncomfortable, even thought I was just going to be reading to my dad. He gave me some words of encouragement, and even thought I was not able to read…

In fifth grade, once every week, I would be pulled out of my regular class to participate in a gifted math class. We would solve puzzles, solve problems, and play games that would get our minds to think. I do not remember much from this class, but I do remember the week we spent drafting our dream house on paper. We had specific guidelines to follow regarding the measurements, and what needed to be contained in the house. Simple things like a restroom, two bedrooms, a kitchen. Otherwise, we were set free to do as we pleased. I remember this because I became charmed by solving the problems that come with drafting a home. Making things make sense, and fit, was frustrating, but in a way that motivated me to keep going at full speed. That is why I seeked out an architect to shadow.…

Mitchell asked me to stay and take a seat I have seen you grow as a woman personally and business wise. Therefore, it is the perfect timing to talk. Is something wrong? No, I have rehearsed the conversation a million times. Are you sick? Priscilla, you have stirred feelings in my heart that I haven’t felt for any woman. It was time for me to interrupt him before he could expound. He moved next to me; I wanted you in my life when the doors opened, and I found you studying; it was love at first sight. The women I met accompanied me to business meetings or parties because Donald said businesspeople prefer dealing with people in a committed relationship. I have grown tired of this charade I want to get to know you on a personal level.…
