Personal Narrative: My Experience At The Dmars Event
It was great meeting you a few weeks back at the DMars event. Once again congratulations on the success of your restaurant. You probably don’t remember our conversation but I’m interested in one day owning my own restaurant. Are there any actions I can take now to begin the process? I’m a novice and I only cook at home or for friends. Any advice you can offer would be great.

Friday. T minus 15 hours till the last day of camp. The Saturday volunteer cancelled. My game plan was crumpled up and trashed. “Why hadn’t I thought of backup plan?” I asked myself, on the verge of pulling out my hair. I hadn’t taken into account all the variables and now I was receiving the repercussions. I had no idea becoming the Transportation Coordinator for a camp would be so stressful.…

In eighth grade, the 2018 graduates including me visited Washington D.C. After months of preparing we finally landed in the Capitol. Truth be told I wasn’t in a really great mood, before I leaving I had an allergic reaction to a spray of Axe. Many events happened during the trip, but the most memorable event was viewing the Vietnam Memorial. The two 250 feet long obsidian colored walls stood at eight inches and met at at their highest point 10 feet.…

On Saturday, I have attended a Pow Wow that was happening at the California State University of Long Beach. I knew what kind of event it was because this was my second time attending one. At the first Pow Wow, I was able to take the opportunity to volunteer for them and helped them out with the resting area for the dancers and other miscellaneous tasks. I also had the chance to walk around and explore what was provided and stayed at the event until the end. It has been over two years since I had gone to the first Pow Wow so I was excited to see once again the beauty and the uniqueness of the Native Americans and their culture.…

Weather destruction hits hard some places more then others around the world. In Alpena where I live we rarely have any kind of major weather damage. On June 14, a group of 44 members from Grace Lutheran Church, as well as other churches in Alpena, drove 20 hours to Mayflower, Arkansas where a level 5 tornado had hit. I was one of these, along with my mom and one of my best friends Maddy. For six months we had prepared and fundraised. I did not want to go on this trip, but what I was going to see was much more than what I had imagined--i came back more grateful for the life I have and more aware of the problems that other people deal with.…

When the second week of February arrived, Kayla and I left Sioux Falls around six in the morning. Arriving in Brookings a hour later, we were driven to the campus and taken to a building with a large gathering room that held other schools whom had already arrived before us. We were assigned seats in specific sections—ranging from Bass, Tenor, Alto, or Soprano. Hours of practicing went by, and we had reached the last few hours of the day. Driven to a performance hall; we ran through all the songs once more before the final…

In the summer of 2015, I began my journey within the Miss America Organization when I was crowned Miss Oakland County’s Outstanding Teen. I never could have anticipated how significantly this experience would shape my life. Wearing a crown and sash was plenty of fun, but the materialistic stereotypes associated with pageantry were trivial pieces to my reign. That summer, I toured my state meeting and speaking for elected officials and community leaders, I completed more than one hundred hours of community service, and I became an ambassador for mental health awareness and education.…

It was game day the field was rough and dry the goals were painted yellow, the burning hot sun was shining off our helmets. The team practiced so hard for this game it was the game that everyone wanted to see. It was only five bucks to get in. the coaches called all the players out on the intercom for the pre game meal, we were having some watermelon and some chicken and a potato it was very good. The chicken was the best. we started warming up when coach had called us down to the field. We had went over some offense and defense. When defense had went out on the field, we had worked on some pass blocks and some blitz plays. In my opinion pass block was my favorite. Everyone's pads was tied tight, cleats were wrapped with white tape, chin straps…

In April, I was given the opportunity to work with several English language learners at P.S.189. I was able to work with Mrs. Bogue’s Kindergarten class and Mrs. James first grade classroom. The Shared Vision I am currently in the process of crafting includes working for an organization that will challenge me to grow both in knowledge and as a person. Peace Corp is one organization that can give me what I want out of my company and organization and how I am going to get that out of my new organization. At this time I am trying to link my personal vision to the organization’s potential in order to help myself align the organization’s purpose with my own purpose (vision): and to prepare the individual groundwork for creating a shared vision. I am at a crossroads on my career path, where I can either I can decide on my personal vision and try and line up my career with that vision or I can let someone else determine what type of work…

A big event that has changed my life was when my older brother moved away to go to the navy. This changed my life cause I did not know if I was ever going to see him again. When he told me he was leaving and not going to be back for awhile i thought he was leaving because of me, I was a little brat back then so yeah and at the age i was i thought everything was my fault. The day my brother left was probably the saddest thing to ever happen because me and him would always hang out and play video games or walk around town or do something fun. I remember when we dropped him off at the airport i was clinched on to his leg and i was refusing to let go because I didn’t want him to leave. Now that i look back on it i think one of the reasons why i didn’t want him to leave is because he was kinda like my best friend/ role model so yeah and well he is my older brother and I didn’t want anything to happen to him.…

Growing up in a sheltered lifestyle, not worrying about were my next meal would arrive from, or whether if I was going to live throughout the night was never on my mind until I learned from the experiences of the people throughout my missionary trip in India. It was an unforgettable experience that altered my life, and left a lasting impression on me. I had volunteered at a psychiatric housing home which housed over hundred plus people who were all mental ill. My missionary group and I had spent a month living with the patients, assisting them in any way possible, but most importantly seeing their point of view on life through their eyes.…
