Personal Narrative: My Experience At Roseville High School
I was only fourteen when I entered high school, and freshman was such a blurr. I was introduced to more diversity and culture while I attended Roseville High School. Me, my mother, and my younger brother moved to Roseville,MI after a terrible house fire. We resided in a one bedroom apartment making it work for the rest of the school year. While I was at Roseville I didn't have much friends, in fact I barely talked to anyone. I felt outcasted and lonely since the school was so community driven. Everyone that attended the high school also attend the middle and elementary school. That year I walked about a mile in a half to school and it kept me in shape if I may add. The walk home also helped me study for several tests and prepared me for my homework later that night. I would write my vocabulary words on a note card and repeat the words for the whole walk home. The walk didn't bother me until the snow fell and the frost began to bite. That Christmas I told my mom that she could be the best Santa for my brother and I would be just fine, although I was fourteen. …show more content…
Fall 2014 I felt at home and warm when I walked into Harper Woods high school. I spent countless nights trying to help my younger brother, who was 6 then, with his homework then put him to bed. Nights like those mom was pulling overtime and was working night shift. I could see how hard mom work to maintain the home and feed her offspring. Life wasn't terrible and it sure wasn't depressing, it was a learning experience. My tenth grade summer I applied to a caddie program at the Country Club of Detroit, in Grosse Pointe

The reason my academics aren’t going well as you or I would like is because of the several family issues I’ve had to face during my high school career. It began my Sophomore year, I found out my mom needed surgery in her arm so the chances of her cancer spreading would be reduced. I was under a great deal of stress worrying about my mother, taking care of my four siblings making sure they knew everything was going to be okay, even though I wasn’t sure myself. It was all up to me; while my other brother worked to help with bills, my mom being in the hospital, and my dad working. Taking care of my siblings consisted of cooking, homework, cleaning, nightly routine, and putting them to bed. When the work was done it would be around 10 o'clock. It was already tough to buckle down and focus on homework without all the stress. With all this my first semester grade was less than great.…

I learned a lesson all the way back in first grade, and that lesson has stuck with me ever since. I was coming in from recess, and I was talking to a friend of mine off to my left. Unfortunately, I was not watching where I was going. I kept barely taking glances of what was in front of me, and that was a huge mistake. Someone was running behind me, and wasn’t watching where they were going either. As I approached the building I heard yelling, but thought nothing of it. After all, recess had just finished, so obviously kids would be yelling, right? It turns out some kids had been playing tag, and decided to play until they got inside. One that was still running away, because God forbid he’d be “it,” was Nick.…

Throughout my years of high school I have always strived for the best grades that I could attain, and they didn’t come easy. There were plenty of distractions that had driven me off course. Whether it was long hours at practice, volunteering for my community, or having a part-time job, I couldn’t let these activities hinder my grades. This purpose had sprung in me, to not only strive in my extracurricular activities, but also my schoolwork. Balancing both school and additional activities wasn’t a simple task. This led me to many sleepless nights, in which I had to tutor myself on certain topics I was struggling on. This ranged from my hardest subject, to studying extra hours on my hardest class, and even simple topics that I needed extra work…

When I started Unity High School I thought that we were going to get a lot of work from my classes, and that work was going to be extremely hard. I also thought that I wasn't going to have any free time to do anything because of that, but it turned out to be wrong because the teachers give us a good amount of work but its not really hard. I thought that making friends in Unity would be hard in a sort of way but it was quit easy because everyone else was trying to make friends too. When I first got to Unity I also thought that there was going to be a few school clubs, but there is a good amount of clubs that students can join if they want to join some type of club. I think as a person I have grown more since first coming to Unity because I…

“East High is a place where teachers encouraged us to break the status quo and define ourselves as we choose. Where a jock can cook up a mean crème brûlée, and a brainiac can break it down on the dance floor. It's a place where one person, if it's the right person, changes us all. East High is having friends we'll keep for the rest of our lives, and that means we really are 'all in this together'. Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat!” Troy Bolton. Although I am not a student at East High from the movie High School Musical, this quote sums up my experience at North Kingstown High School. Like the students from the movie, I was encouraged to be myself and along the way I created life-long friendships and many memories.…

I have been a student at Macomb Community College for a year, over my academic career here I have learned a lot more than I thought possible. Before I started at Macomb I had already been through two other colleges, but for academic reasons I left those schools. When I finally got to Macomb I had to register for an English class, in which I just happened to get you as my teacher. I thought the class was going to be extremely easy because it was online, and honestly, I thought that I was pretty good at English. As I went through the class I never really paid attention to all the good tips and skills that you were teaching, I just wrote on the topic as I was told. I never practiced on my punctuations, run-on sentences, or even the development…

All throughout school I strived to be a great student, always trying my best and never giving up. I didn’t really have any life changing moments that shaped me into who I am today that is, until freshman year. That year everything changed for me I was faced with challenges I never had to face before. My brother and I are three in a half years apart and he went to Horizon High School for his freshman and sophomore year. He was a troublemaker to say the least didn’t have the best reputation so all the teachers there thought that I was just like him. When I started there no one really knew my name and then once they saw my last name they started to be rude to me and say rude things to me. Even when I did good on work I still got a bad grade just because the…

During my freshman year of high school I received a letter in the mail. This letter was an invitation to play basketball in Australia, with other boys and girls of my age. The date was September 13, 2011. The letter stated that we would be leaving June 1, of 2012. Of course I wanted to go as soon as I read the letter, but my family was more curious about the trip. We did some research and figured out everything that would be offered on this trip. In my research I read of playing Australian basketball games, snorkeling, swimming in the ocean, surfing, and spending three days on Tangalooma Island. This was enough to convince my family that it would indeed be a fun trip for me to attend.…

The beginning of my freshman year in high school changed my life. I had set many types of goals for myself this year including making friends, helping others and being a part of the most incredible organization, Blue Guards. Blue Guards is apart of the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps at Oxon Hill High School. Blue Guards was not only a drill team, it was a family, a family of girls and boys working together, leading others, having discipline, and respecting each other as a team. Walking into the first day of school knowing I was going to be part of this team made me light up like a light bulb.…
