Personal Narrative: My Experience At Pace University
Queens and Pace University in a nursing program, two completely different groups which I am apart of. Queens, Middle village is a small town that I resided in all my life and called my hometown. Queens is located in the center of New York City, but is actually a small knit town where almost everyone knew each other. On the other hand, Pace University in Westchester is a completely different environment. I am a nursing major at Pace University and this is the new group that I have joined in a new area. Even though I spent most of my childhood in Queens, as I have lived in Pace University throughout this year and joined my group of nursing students, I feel like Pace University is my new home. Today, I feel like my new nursing group in Pace University is my current main community since this is a part of what I will do for the rest of my life. Queens, Middle village, is an area that I have resided in all my life and one that I will never forget. When I first moved to Queens, I felt like an outsider since the town was mostly very reserved and quiet. First of all, Queens my hometown is a town I will never forget, this is the place where I was born, grew up in and met people who made me who I am today. By moving away from home and living on campus, I have become accustomed to my new home at Pace University and my nursing group here. Making a new change in my life that is worthwhile is something that means a lot to me. Trying something new and living on Pace University on campus as a nursing student has made me who I am now. Even though my nursing group in Pace University has become new new home away from home, I always go back to Queens once in awhile to visit my childhood friends and reminisce about my memories made in my

In conclusion, I will always be grateful for being able to mature as an adult on Monevista avenue. Growing up on Montevista avenue revealed to me the different kind lifestyles a person can live, and how I am responsible for my own life. I was able to observe the positive and negative effects of each situation. Being able to see where each pathway would eventually leave me when it was all over. Thankfully, being exposed to the different incontrovertible actions transpiring in the neighborhood at the time showed me who I wanted to be as a person, and persistently reminds me of why I will always strive to be the best version of myself.…

My dream for the next four years is to achieve a Physician Assistant degree at St. John’s University. As I transition to college from high school, I understand how there is no one in the world besides myself to help me reach my goal and it will require hard work as well as motivation to reach that point. At times, I feel overwhelmed with the struggles that arise in achieving my degree, but that would not stop me from my main point in coming to this school. I am able to connect my experience to the experience the Nolan’s and my dad went through when it was their time to achieve their dreams. I find it to be very lucky to go to school in New York because I am already one step ahead of my game to fulfill my target since New York is the place where there are many opportunities for everyone. Born and raised in South Paterson, I wouldn’t ask for anything better. As I walk down the block I notice how people that come from around the world can get along in such a small city. I would see people representing their ethnicity, backgrounds, religion, and even their traditions in many ways. From the flags being hung up and to the candles and Christmas trees that are lit; I enjoyed watching fellow friends and neighbors of mine knowing that they are proud of their own race. Coming from a busy city, I always called it the “glimpse of New York”. People view New York as a place where it’s full of activity. Correspondingly, the streets of Paterson are the same. Commencing the overcrowded produce markets and the NJ transits stopping at every…

I began working at Keeter my first semester at College of the Ozarks. On my first day of work, the supervisor handed me a gleaming gold name tag that not only had my name but the state I came from. I watched as others put their nametags on, and I quickly discovered that most of them read Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. I looked down at my nametag and felt a sense of uniqueness, knowing no one in the room had the state of Virginia. I soon began to realize that my nametag sparked curiosity when the guests saw how far I had traveled. Guest after guest would ask the same question, “How did you end up here?” I answered this question dozens of times within a day. There were days that I would begrudgingly tell the Keeter guests my journey to this College, but never once did I fail to cherish the opportunity I was given.…

During my time at Gwynedd Mercy University, I experienced many hardships that today made me a stronger student. When I first attended Gwynedd Mercy University, my parents encouraged me to choose a major where I would have a career in allied health. Unfortunately, deep in my heart I knew it was something I did not want to pursue but I knew it would make my parents happy. As the semesters went on, I tried to keep up with the studies but science was just something I was not good at. This led me to struggle and choose another major. It took me a while to finally choose what I wanted to do and I always wanted to pursue a career that would help people in ways other than allied health sciences. I chose to declare Human Services as my major and I became very content. However, things were still not easy for me. The middle of my college years, I became very ill. I suffered from many illnesses that set me back on attending classes. My time at the community college was used to focus on building a strong academic foundation, specifically tutoring international students English every week as they tried to maneuver through their lives in the United States. I remember during one particular session, a Chinese exchange student told me that when she first arrived in Seattle, she was in a state of euphoria. However, her inability to communicate fluently with her peers hindered her from adapting to the customs in America. Consequently, it impeded her from making her own place in society. Another individual, who emigrated from Eritrea, confessed she was still unfamiliar with having additional resources at her fingertips. She grew up in an area where advanced technological tools,…

The event that I choose to follow summer fest was a simple and casual visit to the wellness and recreational center, fancy way of saying the gym. Upon my first ever visit to Florida International University I still remember at our freshmen orientation entering the gym and thinking to myself this seems like a place that I will be visiting often during my four year tenure at school. And boy was I right, the facility was clean and professional looking very much like a professional gym would appear, the staff where all kind and ready to assist you if help was ever necessary, something that I truly valued. I was extremely exited to take a spinning class at the FIU gym, I had only ever heard positive reviews and I was looking forward to the experience as well. Personally I am obsessed with fitness so any class, or activity is something that I love to experience which is what drove me to experience the class myself, and did, I love it. When I got out of that class I was sweating so much, I felt like I had gone on a run around the world and it so amazing, the instructor knew exactly what she was doing and had no problem helping you out if you needed it, the music was fun and exiting extremely up tempo. Overall I can only rave about the experience, it was positive and motivational. It has truly inspired me to no matter how stressed I may be I can always go down to the gym and relieve my stress while gaining a benefit as well.…
