Personal Narrative: My Experience As A Lethargic Student
In my four years in high school, I have had countless experiences. All of my encounters have helped me grow not only personally, but academically. I went from being a lethargic student, to a hard working mindset scholar.

Being able to start of high school in Godinez really gave me a head start in becoming who I am now. I used to be a kid who did not really care for rules and would slack off constantly. Attending a fundamental school really turned me around. The only reason I talk back to a teacher now, is to ask for help or to help out the teacher in any way possible. I wanted to be more involved with the school soccer team, disappointedly, I did not make the team. However, that did not stop me from going out and supporting them all the way to win the state cup.

Not only did I mature personally, but academically as well. As I began classes her at Godinez, I realized it would be a rather difficult task to complete homework assignments. I would complete classwork, but homework was never a strong suit for me. I would rarely sit down at home and complete any school work. If I ever did, it would be for the

My vocabulary and diction has grown tremendously since I initiated my four years. Many students do not realize the importance of having writing skills. They believe that it will not be of hindrance as they go through adulthood. However, being able to write is applied in the simplest of jobs. I have always wanted to be a psychologist and I have noticed that they spend a lot of time writing, which in fact I have done for a while

I got out of class early and was heading home to get myself ready to spend time with my bright and intelligent students. Sometimes when I get out of class my body feels overwhelmed and tired. Perhaps it feels this way because of all the things that are going on in my life like family, friendship, relationship, community service, and homework assignments. I feel like I am very busy that I often do not have time for myself. However when I arrived to El Jardin that quickly changes. The students that I work with on Wednesday fill my life with positive attitude and energy that I often forget about the worries and stress that I encounter during the day. Personally, I’ve always felt I was a decent writer in all aspects regarding research and personal narratives. Considering those are subjects that interest me and that I love to read about. I struggle the most when it comes to making my writing hold a deeper or hidden message when the topics I am told to write about don’t interest me. Having to do rhetorical analysis with old literature and having to explain the main idea was my number one struggle in AP language and composition senior year. But other than that I felt, throughout high school, I enjoyed writing and taking a majority of the writing classes my school had to offer, not only because it was required but because it was something that teachers and myself felt I did acceptable work.…

I was awarded a wonderful education at Windham High School, but beyond the information I retained, I also learned what is important in life. At first, I thought all that mattered was the clothes you wore, what makeup you had on, and who you were friends with. There is more to life than all that. I love helping others and my induction into the National Honor Society allowed me to do just that, especially in my four service projects I had the opportunity to lead and be a part of. I try to please people and make sure they are always happy and I now know it is most important to give back to the community who gave me so much.…

My education will never be complete. This knowledge affords me the ability to grow each and every day. It teaches me to question the world and to learn from these questions. I learn through different lenses and circumstances I experience each day. At seventeen, I am nowhere near complete. I am young. I am flawed. I am naïve. What I have learned has led me down different paths in order to achieve different milestones on my own journey. I am strong. I am creative. I am poised...but most importantly I am learning. My education has allowed me to learn about myself, about others, and about the world. I am evolving through the educational process and through the effort of acquiring knowledge.
