The Story of My Search Three years ago I was told, to have flat feet, high arches and an extra bone in my foot. Me being my curious self, I was wondering what this all means and what this could cause in my life? “Could I continue playing soccer?” “How long have I had this?” “Can I still do physical activities?”
I already knew that I had an extra bone, because of the everlasting pain that it would put me in when trying shoes that were not wide enough for my foot. I also knew that my flat feet case, seems to be genetic because my half sister, and dad both have flat feet as well.

Or is it a long and tedious job that takes hours to do and lots of precision? This led me the urge to look it up, and let me say I feel that I was close with my prediction. The surgical treatment for removing the Accessory Navicular from the foot, involves separating the tendon from the navicular and removing the extra bone. Then the tendon is reattached to the correct ligament and the wound is sutured. In conclusion the surgery can take anywhere from thirty minutes to around an hour and a half. Finally, what is this so called “Accessory Navicular?” Turns out that the accessory navicular is indeed an extra bone or piece of car tiled get located on the inner side of the foot just above the arch.
