Personal Narrative: My College Experience

Better Essays
Coming into my first quarter of college I did not know what to really expect. I was very nervous and thought to myself if I could actually be successful in college. As the quarter went on, yes it was difficult at times, but I managed to work hard and get through everything. I have had good experiences and I have had bad experiences. I have had a mixture of these experiences throughout my classes. Academically I did a relatively good job. Although most of the time I was lazy and watched netflix a lot, towards the end of the quarter I did better on fully completing my work as well as watching less television.

I dislike English very much, however the fact that my teacher was very nice and helpful really aided the time I spent in lecture be less boring. I really learned a variety of new lessons from her class. It also greatly enhanced my writing skills. At the beginning of the quarter, I would receive D’s and F’s on the quizzes, and later on I began to receive many B’s. Also, I would receive C’s on my essays, however, I later also began to receive higher grades on my essays. In fact, about a week ago I surprisingly received a B- on an in class essay. I feel I have really improved on my writing skills and my professor has also positively commented on my improvement. She also reaffirmed my success by using the in class essay that I received a B- on as an example of what she considered to be a very good essay. One of my other academic goals this quarter was to pass my english lecture and so far it seems like I will accomplish my goal. For next quarter, I will be taking English 1A and I hope that I will have the same luck in having another great professor as well as improving my writing skills even …show more content…
My short term goal was to attend the gym at least once or twice a week. My long term goal was to consistently go to the gym more times a week. Sadly, I did not reach either goal. To this day, I have yet to step a foot in the gym. There were days where I told myself that I would wake up early the next day to go to the gym or go for a run, but I never seemed to wake up. As the quarter went on, attending the gym seemed more and more impossible as my workload increased. Even though I did not go to the gym this quarter, I still hope and have goals for attending the gym next quarter. Overall, my first quarter college experience has been okay. I did enjoy some aspects, but there are still some aspects that I do not like. I do believe that I have grown more throughout this quarter as a student and as an individual; however there is still more to grow and learn. I plan on working harder next quarter to be able to fully and successfully accomplish all the academic and personal goals I set for

after I saw my sister playing, I wanted to get started as quickly as possible. I played with girls that I went to school with. Every practice and game was so entertaining. After a little while being on Belle-Clair, my sister switched teams and went to a select team called BFC (Belleville Football Club). I told my mom I wanted to…

bad. Although I immensely relished learning psychology, I can say without a doubt what I least liked about my learning experience was all the stress that I felt. College is supposed to be no cakewalk, I know, but the stress certainly took me by surprise. I didn’t expect to have so much due in such a small period of time. For example, I recall near the end of the 3rd semester at community college I had three major papers due all within a few days of each other. Although I had completed most of the work…

Throughout every college experience there are two sides to every story. The text made me realize, through vivid examples that I remember learning when I was younger, such as the gods and the giants, something that I have been told since I was young. That I have to always think twice before I think say or do anything. From the beginning of the text, seeing the opposing sides made me realize the one-sided thought process that I have had. What may seem good at the time, such as going out and being…

My Experienced In Essex County College The first year of college for a young man or women can be a monumental step in their life. In my case it was. It was the first time that someone in my household went to a college in the United States, so the pressure was on. It felt like having the spotlight in a performance just waiting for your work to get judged by others. I was not necessarily scared to be judge by my family members, but I was a little worried about the transition from the skate free…

This last semester has been very different from my overall college experience. When they said you have to have the heart to do nursing I always thought I did. After being overwhelmed and developing critical thinking skills I think I have acquired just a taste of what I need. I have created a little family with my fellow nursing students. We all strive to see the other succeed and I could not ask for a better group. I thought that coming into nursing school that I would have everything covered…

helping others shouldn't be something seen as duty or mandatory, it should be spontaneous. Through others experiences and hardships we learn and grow as human beings, not only did I enjoy helping others but I felt that it helped me with my problems. Having moved around so much and meet so many people and living by myself so many years I came to truly be thankful for my blessings and specially for my hardships. Hermann Hesse once said, "I have always believed, and I still believe, that whatever good or…
