Personal Narrative: My College Admissions Essay

"Every successful individual knows that his or her achievement depends on the community of persons working together", these few words by Paul Ryan come to mind when I consider my family, my community and the environment around me. I am inspired by the people who go out of their way to support and mold me into the person I am. My parents selflessly invest in my education and character; they offer the roof over my head in which I have worked, struggled, and accomplished for the past seventeen years. They’ve infused in me integrity and perseverance, and have provided the opportunities in support of my goals and dreams.
I’ve been raised in a close-knit family and constantly taught that family and relationships should be cherished in life. My traditional family consists of two parents, three children, two dogs and we live in a suburban area. As a family,
My father, a pharmaceutical representative, taught me to work hard at everything I do which has benefitted me throughout my academic career. If I ever hit a blockade and wanted to give up, he would always say, “You have to finish what you started.” During freshman year, I took Pre-AP Geometry which was a challenging course to me, and after my first test I thought I wasn’t going to pass the class. However, instead of giving up in the class and dropping out to an easier class, I worked harder and studied more. At the end of the year, I passed the class with an A. This work ethic has allowed me to succeed more than fail in life. My mother, a realtor, infused in me values and a curiosity of life.
