Personal Narrative: More Than Just A Twim
This essay is similar to the freestyle race at a swim meet. This is a fast-paced race that allows the swimmer to swim any stroke. By being able to swim any stroke, the swimmer is able to be creative. Basketball has allowed me to be creative and be myself, which is why I compared these to one another. Writing this essay was fairly simple because I am so passionate about basketball. I have been involved with basketball for a long time and have learned many lessons. It was easy to share stories that I have learned from. Basketball has helped me become a more outgoing person. I chose the title More Than Just a Game because basketball has taught me lessons that I will be able to carry with me throughout my life.

In chapter 12, the key event to me was when Claudia and Finn talked to each other through the keys. I felt many emotions when reading their interaction one of them being happy. I felt happy when they talked to each other because it was a turning point in the story in my opinion. I also felt surprised because at first, I thought by having two keys, there would be a lock that would need both keys to hear and speak to each other. I also felt confused by the way they conversed; How could they now hear each other but not before. I think by having one key being touched, the other key can hear because on page 153 Claudia says she breathed and rubbed on the key making it warm and on page 154 Finn says when he touches the key it's warm.I like the way the author wrote the scene from both perspectives, it gave us the readers a clearer understanding of how both Finn and Claudia felt. I also like how the author described the way both keys affect each other and have a "key" connection.…

I have always love to play basketball. The swish when you make it just right, and the boom of the basketball hitting the floor “are sounds I love”. When I first started playing basketball, my mom and my couch Richard knew that I was expectational. I played with Richard for a few years, then one day he told us about this newspaper ad he saw for a team named “Eugene Fire”. My mom decided to check it out, so she called the coach, Jim. He said I probably won't make the team, but I believed I could. So I would try anyways.…

I have always wanted to win, no matter what I am playing, or doing. I will always walk with my head held high, hopefully as a winner. This part in the story tells us about the main character, Richie Perry, and how he decided to go into the army.…

Ever since I was born, I was a military brat. Not knowing where to call home, or if any place could be home, I moved. I moved six times, four of those places were towns that nobody could think about. Germany, North Carolina, Alaska, North Carolina, Germany, and Alaska, yet no place to call home. May 22, 1999, my first day on this world; Kronach hospital had its first American baby in their hands, yet they acted like I was a different species. The only event I remember was when I was about one. While I was one, I grabbed everything in my reach, even a grill handle. As a baby, I did not know that the handle was moving, the grill top had smashed my thumb. Ever since that event, I now have a starfish mark on the side of my right thumb from where the stiches were.…

An outstanding basketball player by the name of Julius Erving once said, “The key to success is to keep growing in all areas of life- mental, emotional, spiritual, as well as physical.” The sport of basketball is tremendously hard to master, and it shows because only a select group has successfully mastered the game of basketball. Basketball is the sport that requires all aspects of your body to be excellent. To be a great basketball player you have to be physically, mentally, and emotionally strong to endure the pressures of the sport. Football has always been a big part of my life. As a young boy I would day dream of making insane touchdowns, making tackles that would leave man stuck in the ground, and even winning the heisman trophy. In 7th grade I had begged my mother endlessly to sign me up for pee wee football because she would always worry about the risks of football. After finally getting her to sign me up, we went straight into the season. I chose to play running back because as a 12-year-old I was remarkably fast having timed 5.3 in the 40 yard-dash. After a few weeks in the season we approached the playoffs and found out our opponent for the first round of the playoffs were the jaguars who were undefeated. Our team didn’t have the best chemistry on…

Firstly, I feel a great sense of enjoyment from playing basketball because basketball gives me lots of fun and happiness. Basketball not only releases a lot of the stress which I get from school and homework but it also helps me keep fit. I also chose basketball as one of my GCSE PE options. I got a good grade for it too which makes me feel proud of my efforts to do try and do well. I have a basketball idol called Michael Jordan. He inspired me with his fabulous skills when I look back over the years when I followed his career. I watched many of the matches in which he played. Not only did he have brilliant technical basketball skills but he also showed a great cooperative spirit which worked very well with his teammates, making a great and strong team which was often very difficult to be beaten by the opposition. I particularly loved his shooting skills in many of the matches I watched and he scored most of the time with the shots he took.…
