Personal Narrative: Mock Trial
One of my favorite extracurricular activities I participated in was Mock Trial. It consisted of long hours and preparation. I learned scripts, objections, and how to just act in court in general. This year was hilariously disastrous. We had gotten a new coach, and he decided that we needed to do more prep and have less practices, but completely neglected to remember that this year's team comprised of mostly first time participants. He also kept changing everyone's roles. Pretending to be a witness gave me such a thrill, like could I really pull this off? And this year I did, I received compliments from the judge and the other team. I would like to say we won but we didn’t. It is never our goal to win, but to learn from our mistakes. And

Rachel called me back regarding Wells trial which is scheduled on March 28, the matter is sitting at 3rd setting and in her opinion the first setting would go ahead on trial since its contested and she hasn’t heard anything in terms of settling the matter or resetting. The second case she is not sure, she has given me the attorneys name for those two cases. I called the attorneys’ offices and this is what I found out:…

The judge called the people one by one until the 3rd person went. Scores were gave. It was then my turn. I went to the middle ring. I tripped on my uniform, got up and did my form wrong. I completely flipped out and melted. I was sobbing on the red and blue mat. Then the master judge came over to me and asked “Would you like to try again? We can only give you 3 points but you can go again.”…

I have always strived for my best in everything I do. I never accept failure; however during my sophomore year of high school, I was put through a difficult challenge. I have always dreamt of becoming an athletic student but I have always never gotten a chance because of my discouragement that I would not make the team. In my sophomore year, I decided to try out for the tennis team. I was confident of my status as the new athlete in the Dominion High School tennis team. After the week long try outs, I was given the disappointing news that I had not made the team. I was very disappointed but that did not stop me from continuing to work hard and work on my mistakes. Throughout the summer, I practiced with former Dominion High School tennis players…

I was nerve-wrecked, but I did my best in presenting my project. When the winners were announced, I was eagerly listening with a mildly beating heart. I was very disappointed when my name was not called. I was devastated, as I was an immature child at that time. I started tearing up and began doubting myself. My family and friends tried to console me, but eventually gave up. However, one thing that my teacher had said stuck with me. She said, “Life is too short for you to be doubting yourself; just try again next year and who knows, you might win”; I kept that piece of advice with me wholeheartedly. The following year, when I was in eighth grade, I participated in the science fair again. I put in the same effort, but one thing was different; my perspective. I thought that if I do win, then it will be an accomplishment for me. However, if I did not then it would act as a learning experience. I confidently presented my project to the judges with an open mind and no nerve-wrecking…

My family shaped my entire life. Yet, so did I. I went down a road that many do not travel on until they are teenagers or in their early twenties. I was born in Hayward, Ca. and lived there for about twelve years. In those twelve years, I went through a lot. I went to Palma Ceia Elementary School, constantly getting into trouble every day. My mother had been told by many teachers that I would never pass the sixth grade, let alone go to college.…

About the only good thing that came out of me going to jail was meeting this guy named Lev. He was a skinny guy that did not look like he committed a vicious crime. He didn’t he was in jail for looting a dead German on Voinova Street. He was really rude when I tried to make company, but I could understand why because at times like these you can’t trust anyone. I asked him if he was a Jew and he did not appreciate that, because he thought I looked like a Nazi, but after he found I wasn’t he was ok with the question. I gave him some sausage because I figured he would be hungry. We both were wondering why they didn’t shoot us because that was the punishment for both of our measly little crimes. I started to take notes in my journal on Ushakovo’s…

Even though I am considered a skilled and impressive player, the game I love is all about failure. Players that fail seventy percent of the time are considered to be the best in the world. So this is where I developed the skill of mental toughness that I apply in life and baseball. In the summer of 2016, my high school baseball team made it to the state playoffs where the top teams played. College coaches were at the games along with hundreds of other fans. In our semi-final game, we were winning three-to-two…

“The defendant is…not guilty,” said the judge. Yes, my plan actually worked. I can’t believe that Herb actually made everybody agree that I was innocent. I actually got away with killing my idiotic father. Oh I despised him so much, he would beat me and yell at me for no apparent reason. I remember that day like it was yesterday, I went to the drugstore and bought myself a switchblade knife. I was so irritated and I was ready to do anything to get rid of that old hag. I walked into the apartment and he was sitting down at the table. I snuck up behind him and stabbed him in the chest as hard and fast as I possibly could. He yelled then turned around and looked at me with a shocked look then fell on the ground. Right when he died, I felt devastated but also overjoyed because I wasn’t going to get abused anymore, however, I also lost my dad.…

As I was writing my personal narrative for my composition 1 class, it easily made my mind boggle. After I had got started on my personal narrative, it was easy for me to keep writing and keep following along the story line. The main strength of mine that the essay played to was my creativity and my flexibility for different writings, because I have never written an essay as serious and sad as this one, but I did have to add my happy ending when I finished the story. I wanted it to be very attention grabbing with a twist, but I also wanted it to be very emotional.…
