Personal Narrative-Manchester Derby
A solitary hawk shifted its tail against the invisible current and traced lazy circles at the ocean of blue sky .The shoulders of the mountain like the soft contours of a sleeping women blazed bright greenish-yellow light where the fingers of sunlight caressed the features . Such beautiful scenery could be enjoyed from my residence.But what I enjoy most was playing for my team,Manchester United.I was about to make my season debut in a crucial “Manchester Derby”.But I missed half of the season due to a knee-ligament injury.

The seed of this event lied when I was on top form and at the pinnacle of success.Goals were showering whenever the ball reaches my feet.Then,all of a sudden,like a bolt from the blue,I got myself injured.It was against

We were desolate in despair of what to do next.Scoring 2 more goals in such a short time seemed to be the next great challenge for us.But injection of new spirit via substitution by Sir Alex opened a new highway for us in the quest for immortality or I could simply say the champions League title.It was me who scored one of the equalizers by an eye catching free kick from 30 yard mark at the late 70’s.I was then followed by Christiano Ronaldo with his twists and turns which could bluff even the greatest defender of the world.But the most heart-rending scene came for the mighty Barcelona when I scored the winning goal at the 93rd minute by an unforgivable volley from Ronaldo.Eventually,we ended the game by winning the game by 3 goals to 2.It was the happiest moment of my life watching fans taking standing ovations for me as I was announced “The Man of the Match”.I also took bow in reply to them.later,I shared my jersey with Lionel Messi after he appreciated my performance by saying;

“Well played Manarat.You just stole the show from us”.

Meanwhile,my ecstatic eyes caught the sight of my beloved amidst others.She was looking very happy at my success.The swish of the spring breeze made me feel it and I felt detached from this anxiety containing world.

This was all I wanted for a long,long time.Now the next great challenge lied in my way was to get selected for my national team and earn name and fame in the upcoming World

    Ever since my freshmen year of high school, football has been the only thing that has mattered to me. I was given the opportunity to dress varsity as a freshman and being around that atmosphere, being on a successful team was intoxicating, especially to me at such a young age. I loved every minute of it, and I knew I wanted to be the one out on the field making the plays I watched that whole year. I made it my goal from that year on, I was going to give everything it took over the next three years in order to be the best football player possible.…

    To live each day watching my younger siblings have the privilege of playing the amazing game while I am unable to punt a ball without feeling the burning sensation in my ankle from that horrible day was unbearable. There is still no possibility of ever being able to play again, and yet, as the years went by, the fear of never getting over my loss gradually lifted off of my shoulders and I found loopholes within my restriction.…

    My name is Shaktim Nepal, a nineteen years old young, energetic boy from Nepal. From my early childhood, I always dreamt of becoming a world class Soccer player but I never tried for it because soccer players neither have good future, nor they make money to earn their life in Nepal. Provided this bitter truth, my passion was limited only to watching the mid-night league games of England and Spain live and exclusive in television. Also, I used to spend 1-2 hours every day playing soccer with my friends. The position I fancied was the defensive one and the role I had to play during games was to nullify the probable goal scoring opportunity created by opposition.…

    I was 9 years old on a soccer team in a school called Brightwood. We have a soccer game every Thursday and Brightwood was going against a school called Truesdell. I was warming up for the game and our coach was giving a speech about our tactics for winning the game and not losing focus of the game. My coach said “today is not the day to be a star, but to play as one”. Most of the players weren't focused on my coach's speech. I heard what the coach had said, but I had my own plans, I felt excited l that this will be the game I can prove that I am a someone.…

    It started just as any normal Saturday would; December 8, 2012, I woke up, went through my morning routine and went to soccer practice. I was competing for a spot on the North Carolina ODP (Olympic Development Program) soccer team. Training was being held at fields about two hours from my house. I sat in the backseat of my dad’s car with my two sisters and as we rode to the fields I began to mentally prepare myself for how I would play my best and make the team.…

    It was a very pleasant evening and I was at soccer practice at the South Barrington turf soccer fields. I loved to play soccer and I took it really seriously. Everything I do I go all out. There was no such thing as a second gear for me, I would always go 110 percent. When I was on the field, I could be looked at as a violent person and I would constantly get carded for rough play. During some of our matches I struck so much fear in my opponents they were afraid to guard me.…

    It all started at ninth street with some friends of mine John and I started recruiting some people to come play football with us. I honestly didn’t know I had a pretty decent arm. I originally was going to start practicing to play wide receiver instead of quarterback. At the time Odell Beckham Jr. ( wide receiver for the New York Giants ) was extremely explosive and dynamic on offense. Seeing him blow up on offense made me want to try out for wide receiver. But somehow John convinced me to play quarterback.…

    I made the team my junior year. Although I did not start the first games because the coach would put some of his favorite players in but one game he put me in second half and no one would get pass me. I was taking all the all the balls away from the opponents and also winning them in the air. After that game I became the starter for every game. It felt good because there were only seven juniors on the team and I was one out of three juniors that started every game. But I was really clad for myself because all the hard work I did over the summer paid off. We were in a tournament and were playing to go to the finals. We won 7 -1. I scored my first goal in that game. When I thought everything was going good one of the opponent player slide and hit me in the knee with his cleats and I just fell and I could not walk because it was the worst pain in the…

    Soccer was going well until the day before my first scrimmage. I had a dentist appointment before I went to soccer and I was running a tad late. When I got there they were already working on defending drills and everything we normally did after stretches. Instead of doing my stretches I just jumped right in to what everyone else was doing. When it was my turn to defend I put pressure on the ball and when I went to plant my foot to change direction I heard six pops and an instant pain run up my leg. I fell to the ground and landed completely on it and all I could remember was how unbearable the pain was. I eventually became stable with my…

    “Cameron, you can’t play football you’ll die,” My mother told me in her usual serious tone, I could always count on my mom to keep it 100% reality even though I hated it.
