Personal Narrative: Little Stormy Ann
Little Stormy Ann was brought into the baby photographer studio at 8 days new. She has such a beautiful, unique name. Apparently, it was a favorite name of Dads, and I can see why. As she grows up and attends school, it's unlikely there will be another Stormy in her class. This little doll was born on May 16th at 10:18 a. m. weighing 8 pounds 4 ounces.

Mom and Dad mentioned that they absolutely adore purple. It's part of her nursery color scheme, so I made sure I incorporated as much purple as I possibly could into the session. Along with purple, there's a soft riot of colors in her nursery including turquiose, orange and green. The set that influenced the room was called bohemian nights.

Patrick and Sidney have such an adorable meeting

When asked to write about a childhood experience most people think of the time they lost their first tooth when they were 6, or about the time they started school when they were 5, however, I’m going to write about summer. She uses a variety of colour overall creating a vast spectrum. The colour also sets the mood of love and harmony. Green the main colour symbolizing nature, growth, harmony, and fertility. Using purple predominantly on Del Kathryn herself, symbolizes wisdom and power. The pale tones used on the flesh may symbolize innocence and purity and youth. Her colour choices all work together to create motherhood and the love for her children and their growth and development.…

Okay, so I was in first grade. Lisa Frankel's first grade classroom, one of the biggest in the whole school. It had a single stall bathroom in it and one of those foam mats. You know the ones I’m talking about right? They’re made of this foam material and they’re shaped like puzzle pieces, so you can just buy them separately and put them together. They had a rug too, with the alphabet on it because first graders need help identifying letters or something [laughs uncomfortably] I don’t know. So yea, Lisa Frankel's class, she was pretty nice. Her teacher’s aide was an ass, but I’m getting to that. We’re little, and our handwriting is a disaster, so we’re practicing writing the number 8. Up until then the trick was to draw two connected circles,…

Dazzling colors, fun displays, and lots of smiles. I have loved watching parades since I was old enough to remember. My favorite part of the Big Sandy and Yamboree parades was always seeing Miss Big Sandy. Even though her face has changed throughout the years, the symbol of Big Sandy remains the same. When I was 6, I was too infatuated with the pretty clothes and sparkling floats to ever truly think about what Miss Big Sandy represents. As I got older, and talked with the other young ladies that have been chosen, I realized that Miss Big Sandy represents our entire town. I learned that Miss Big Sandy isn’t simply parades and fancy dresses; Miss Big Sandy is a symbol of service for those who need it, and she stands for helping others. She volunteers,…

Since I was young, my parents have always taught my sister and I the value of giving your time to help others. When my mom had asked if we would be interested in being volunteers for Carly’s Crossing ten years ago, I would have never guessed the impact I could make not just for pediatric cancer patients and their families at Roswell Park, but the impact volunteering had on myself. Looking back, I have now realized that Carly’s Crossing has helped me to build character.…

I saw the blur of black before I heard the screech of my tires on the scorching summer concrete. The crunching sound of metal on metal rang through my ears. I felt the frigid cold of my dairy treat hit my bare legs. My body jerked as the car swerved towards the highway. 1 hour earlier, 9:00 pm on a mundane Friday night, I was lounging around with my closest friend when an idea popped into my mind. “We should go get Dairy Queen!” I suggested to Gracie, my weary friend next to me. She gave me a cheshire smile and we were off. Little did we know, things were about to head downhill. Literally.…

A few days after I went home with Phoebe, I ended up getting sick and my parents sent me to a hospital. I was trapped in that hospital for about a month with nothing to really do. You know what was funny though? The days practically flew by, right out of the window. Before I knew it, half a month had passed. I was slowly getting back my strength and everything else as well. I made sure I asked the nurse, who was taking care of me, to bring me malted milk. She was very kind to me, and chatty in a nice, friendly sort of way. It was a nice break from the typical phony people. Speaking of phonies, you should've seen my therapist. He came to me during this one session, started asking me questions in a very posh voice. You know, like he's really…

For my senior project, I made books with my first grader girls, focusing on fostering both increased self esteem and positive feelings about being a girl. Each page tackled a different prompt: things they liked about themselves, a woman they admire, things the girls liked about each other, a job they thought would be hard to a girl to have, the best part of being a girl, what it means to be a girl, and that they’re strong. I tried to give the girls as much freedom as I could in answering each prompt. Some of their answers made me laugh, while others troubled me. Some were expected, and others were surprising. When the project concluded, I felt like I had gotten a much better understanding both of the girls individually, and of the way 6 and 7 year old girls feel about themselves and what connotations being a girl has for them.…
