Invasion of Los Angeles
Los Angeles,California,City of Angels,Entertainment Capital of the World.
This is where I was born and raised. All I can say is that I am proud of being an Angeleno. Good weather, second largest market in the
US,uniqueness, and most of all good sports teams. Now if some madmen were to come over and take over LA. Then, obviously it would seem as the worst thing imaginable. The question is would I pretty much let these madmen come over and ruin the way we live or take some action?
I am proud of the city,in which I came from that I wouldn't let anyone try to change my lifestyle or the lifestyle of others. How would I do that? I would do this by letting them make their laws that end up taking basic rights, and I would be among

On the first day of practice he introduced himself as “Jimmy Johnson” our defense line coach. He had a beer belly and glasses and slick wet hair and nappy eye brows and an itchy musty beard. His breath smelled like dog liver. My first impression of him is he just looks weird and mean. We began practice we ran around cones. We went over plays. Where we should line up according to the offense. Coach Johnson always thought he knew what is best for us. He would have running like slaves on D’jango. Coach ran the soles off my cleats. After all this running, my girdle begun chafing creating a rash like an unchanged baby. My feet would always hurt after practice. Looking down my feet was throbbing like a heartbeat. We would run all the lines on the…

We rushed out of the door as we felt relieved that the horrifying experience was finally over, but it was definitely worth the long, but seemingly short wait into the asylum. Every Halloween, my mom and I will return to the Baldwin Asylum. We will always remember the fear that ran throughout our veins before we take our first step into the darkness once again.…

On February 5th, 1992, I, Richard Joseph Gallot, was born at two fifteen in the morning, at St. Francis Medical Center. I am the son of Rick Gallot and Tammy Johnston and I am the only child. As an infant, I lived in Grambling, Louisiana, on one forty one Gallot drive. For about the next two years, my parents developed issues with each other. Then, at the age of two years old, my parents divorced. My father got custody of me and continued living in Grambling while my mother moved around the west coast. From age two until about age twelve, I have been traveling back and forth from Grambling to Dallas. It was hard for me to understand why both of my parents aren’t waking me up every morning together, like all my friends at school. As a child I…

If given the opportunity to correct a mistake from my past, appreciating my curves in my childhood is the first slip up that comes to my mind. Rejecting my wide hips and thick thighs,I longed to have a slender figure not unlike my friends. Ultimately, I purchased one of Shaun T’s workout systems called “Insanity” in the seventh grade. Despite the obvious signs of exhaustion that my body exhibited, I kept pushing myself to endure three workouts a day. I set intangible goals for myself such as losing ten pounds a week. After three and a half months of consistently following Shaun T’s program, I was found heavily wheezing in my sleep during my mother’s nightly rounds to check on my siblings and I. Soon after, I began to feel claustrophobic, as…

Everything stopped, everything a statue all around me. frozen in time. or at least that’s how it felt. I looked around, people staring at me, waiting. I wanted to talk but I couldn't say anything. I felt lost. I could only remember how this all came to be. It was a Monday morning, I’m walking to class, mumbling freestyle raps to myself. As I walk, I accidentally bump into a group of guys, falling as I turn to see them laughing. “Come on, Biggie Smalls! You should watch your step,” One of them said as I stood up, noticing them all start surrounding me. “Let's see if lil’ B.I.G. here can actually spit.” The same guy who I bumped into said, rolling up his sleeves. I could tell he’s the main one considering how the others follow him around.…

For the most part I have lead an admittedly blessed life. From traveling through Europe and walking down the streets of Paris inhaling the culture like it was freshly made bread to volunteering at food banks down the Californian coast getting to see the impact my actions could have on the well-being and lives of others. Coming from the small-town life in Ellensburg, WA, I am very fortunate to have been able to branch out and see the world more than the unending view of pastures and windmills that Ellensburg provides. This isn't to say that I haven't appreciated my time here, in Ellensburg, and I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the laid-back atmosphere, the friendly faces, the unbelievably delicious asian cuisine restaurants, and the inbred knowledge that it'll only take five minutes to get to wherever you need to be.…

Crack! Another bolt of lightning stuck the war-torn ground not too far away from my trench. The small burst of light shined on the bolt lever of my rifle, giving me enough time to see my dirt covered face. The date was April 14th, 1916. I was stationed in Verdun, France. In my childhood years I had dreamed of joining the Canadian Army, and I finally got my wish. But the courageous, easy, and powerful job I once thought of it to be turned out to be depressing, hard, and it came with little to no reward. But alas, I was stuck in this foul-smelling, life stealing excuse of a trench, and I knew it.…

I always keep this poem and picture in my wallet. I take it everywhere with me because it means quite a lot to me in two very different ways. One of those ways is because it holds sentimental value. When I was younger I learned to read very late in life and I was always so embarrassed of that. My father knew that I was struggling and bought me the book, Where the Sidewalk Ends. It is a book full of poems and little pictures written by Shel Silverstein. I remember opening the book to ta random page, and it was the page with this poem. I then remember my dad asking me to read it to him. I was so uncomfortable, even thought I was just going to be reading to my dad. He gave me some words of encouragement, and even thought I was not able to read…

God definitely does exist. As a child curious about the world I once questioned the existence of God. In my heart I always knew God was real. But after being fooled by the myth of the Easter bunny and Santa clause, and finding out that grownups were pretty extraordinary liars. I wasn’t as sure anymore whether god was really real or just another myth made up by the extremely deceiving grownup mind. Months went by, and I still had not yet answered the question that bothered my curious little heart.…

I believe that I have followed the clues to the correct area. However, I’ve been disconcerted with the “how” I got there…this story cannot end in a zero, that just doesn't make sense. I had to think, and let the lines converge to have an ending to this ‘chase’ that satisfies me in my heart (I borrowed the words because they expressed my feeling best – I hope you don’t mind: )…
