Personal Narrative: Impacting Life
Impacting life
In this world there are approximately seven billion people, and one individual can make an impact on all. In fact life is not impacted by the amount of people trying, but impacted by the quality of effort from each individual. My father Shane Jasper, is truly one of the most selfless people I know, but he wasn't always like that. My dad grew up in a pretty “terrible” neighborhood and in turn went to a “terrible” high school. So of course, he wasn't the best student, son, or person in general, and the same goes for my mother, she was the rebellious type. Of course these two found each other and fell “madly in love” or so they thought, but teenage love does not last long, especially if a baby is involved. At the age of nineteen,

There was a time in my life when I hated everything, nothing could make me happy, and I made others have bad days just because of my actions. When I saw how my choices had made my family feel I was ashamed of my behavior. I saw how my father, who had given everything up for me looked truly disappointed in the way he had raised me, questioning if he had done something wrong. At that exact moment, I noticed all the little things I was taking for granted and found how to no longer hate my life but to enjoy it to the best of my ability. I know now that the way I interact with others can in fact make a lasting effect on those around me. Some may say that life is not impacted by one individual, and that it takes the effort of many to change a circumstance. But what the opposition fails to realize is that the efforts of one can have a domino effect. Rosa Parks is well known for altering the public bus system, and its rules of segregation. She alone managed to cause a drastic change by refusing to give up for a white male. Therefore one person can bring about change; change that can last for generations. Life can be impacted by the good or the bad, it's what you choose to take from it. Just because you have a bad day doesn't mean you have a bad life, try and listen to others for they may change they way you

Learning from mistakes is a key part of life. I myself have had to learn from my mistakes. Over the summer I cut my foot outside. I spent the whole night in the worst hospital, then I got 18 stitches in the bottom of my foot. It also set back my ability to play football. My mistake was going outside without shoes, now I wear my shoes all the time.…

I’m happy with who I am today, just as everyone should be. But if I could change anything about myself, I’d want to have more motivation to do things. In the mornings before school I can barely get out of bed because I’m so tired and don’t want to go to school. I’m exceedingly intelligent but I don’t have any drive. I procrastinate on most of my work, and sometimes I just don’t want to do the work. Right now I’m rank 14 in my class but I could’ve been higher if I had any drive my freshman year. I don’t think about how my decisions now will impact me later and when I do, I don’t really care. I also don’t have much motivation to do things in sports activities. Last year I played volleyball and I never had that much playing time. Never being able…

Many people would say no one person can make a change, but that is not the case, one person can make a change. Think about throughout history, many individuals made a change. Whether the change is negative or positive, one individual can still make a change. All it takes to make a difference is effort and hope. Just like Shawn Heinrichs said, “Better to light one candle than curse the darkness. There are so many people who sit back and say ‘we’re screwed.’ But you know what? Maybe that one candle... maybe someone else with a candle will find you. I think that’s how movements are started.”…

In chapter 12, the key event to me was when Claudia and Finn talked to each other through the keys. I felt many emotions when reading their interaction one of them being happy. I felt happy when they talked to each other because it was a turning point in the story in my opinion. I also felt surprised because at first, I thought by having two keys, there would be a lock that would need both keys to hear and speak to each other. I also felt confused by the way they conversed; How could they now hear each other but not before. I think by having one key being touched, the other key can hear because on page 153 Claudia says she breathed and rubbed on the key making it warm and on page 154 Finn says when he touches the key it's warm.I like the way the author wrote the scene from both perspectives, it gave us the readers a clearer understanding of how both Finn and Claudia felt. I also like how the author described the way both keys affect each other and have a "key" connection.…

Change. From the first breath inhaled to the last, we change hundreds, thousands, of millions of times throughout the entirety. These changes may not always be so obvious, whereas others are blaringly distinct. Change is inevitable, especially as the environment, technology, economy, and people develop. Us, human beings, we are flexible, able to adapt and survive. However, as we adapt to these changes, we can not let these changes compromise our beliefs and principles by which we abide and hold close to our hearts.…

As I look to the scenery I acknowledge its beautiful details. It is a wonder of the world that soon may fell between the cracks. A place that I will cherish all my life, a place that is one of a kind. Two hundred places I’ve seen only once. Vivid in my memory for a few years and but soon may be forgotten. But this did not. It will remain in me forever, and as scroll up it reached the end. The end of my photo album I have in my phone last summer vacation I had with my…

“We all stray from time to time….and when you do, OWN IT! If you deny it….you are giving up control again.” This can teach a lesson to people struggling with drugs and alcohol. If you deny that you have a problem, you will continue to let these things control your life, but if you own up to it, you can help yourself or get help from others. The quote, from the “I don’t know the Bible…” paragraph, “‘Well done, my good and faithful servant,”’ reflects what I believe in and what I have learned. Growing up I heard many people tell me, “God first, others second, and yourself last.” First of all, these two quotes are telling me to live a faithful life by putting God first. Also, to put others before me and serve them just like Jesus did.…

Today was the day. The big day. My election for Lieutenant Governor of Division 2B for Key Club, an international service club, was today. Fear and anxiety pricked my skin in rapid movements emanating from every pore. I rehearsed my speech for the fifth time that day. Upon arrival at the Fairfax Library, I urged myself to remain calm. I quickly scouted out the other girls who were present; one girl was dressed professionally with a folder in her hand. I knew that was my competition. The girl spoke eloquently and genially, she radiated enthusiasm and a certain warmth that I did not have. With every question that was asked, she answered with a smooth smile and high-pitched tone that was dripping with sincerity. I bristled inside; I had just been slapped. I was shrouded in a cloud of anxiety and anxiousness. Suddenly, I was dragged from my reverie.…

Throughout our lives there are many obstacles we have to face, some may shape us and some may scar us years onward. My story is a common one that countless people have faced that got in the form of disguise that isn’t always pretty. Approximately ten years ago when I was a regular third grader, when life seemed to be rosy and full of fairytales, that nothing can be worse than not having your favorite meal at lunch, I had a theatre performance that changed my life.…

As an American child, I’ve always been told that I can make a difference, that I can change the world. While that’s always sounded nice, it’s hard not to wonder, “Can I actually change something?” Such is the case of James H. Meredith. He changed the world not though extraordinary actions, but by rebellion and a little help. His decision to apply to The University of Mississippi and challenge countless people who tried to stop him on the way created a snowball effect eventually causing the enforcement of desegregation in public schools. A determined person may change the world by rejecting current circumstances with the help of others.…

Ever since I was born, I was a military brat. Not knowing where to call home, or if any place could be home, I moved. I moved six times, four of those places were towns that nobody could think about. Germany, North Carolina, Alaska, North Carolina, Germany, and Alaska, yet no place to call home. May 22, 1999, my first day on this world; Kronach hospital had its first American baby in their hands, yet they acted like I was a different species. The only event I remember was when I was about one. While I was one, I grabbed everything in my reach, even a grill handle. As a baby, I did not know that the handle was moving, the grill top had smashed my thumb. Ever since that event, I now have a starfish mark on the side of my right thumb from where the stiches were.…

I am a firm believer that one person can make a whole difference. All actions have a beginning and an end. The beginning starts with an idea followed by an action which gathers momentum to form a movement. Martin Luther King had a dream and started with actions to realize his dream and people followed him to make the dream come true.…
