I agree with you Jessica on having unrealistic images of yourself and the difference between looking a certain way and feeling a certain way. Cultural identity is a big deal to teenage girls because it projects her identity based on a certain groups that she associates with (Matlin, 2012, p. 124). In high school I was in the group of misfits, that happen to be mainly boys, and we had friends in other groups but we did not fit in anywhere else. Even though I projected an image of not caring about what others thought of me, I still felt I was fat and when I looked in the mirror, I saw myself as fat. I look back now and I was at an ideal weight then but currently I still think and feel I am obese. I am reminded by the doctor during every checkup…

However, change happens everyday, even if we don't recognize it, change is happening around us, all the time. I chose to welcome change into my life, I had to, or I was going to lose the most important people in my life, my children. Approximately two years ago, my world came crashing down on me like a wall of bricks. In one day I had lost my fiance', my children, my job, my home and my car. My ex-husband had made false alligations and by the time it was all said and done, all I had left was the family dog. That dog became my best friend that day! To confirm that positive thinking works you should look at your friends. It’s almost a fact that everybody has a friend that’s always happy or that's always brings out something good of a bad situation, then compare that person with another person that doesn’t live life that way, and look if that way of thinking make a difference. I personally think that why I have to waste my time thinking about something that can’t be changed, if I could spend that time in other productive things. In general, to live better people should try to stop criticizing, to laugh a lot!, and first of all to forgive, these things take away from you a great…

I struggle with those lingering thoughts that bring me to believe that i am a horrible person or that how far i've come in my life isn't enough. As a Christian, I know that those kind of thoughts is not something that a believer should have in their mind, but it does happen. God gives us manifesting change that no person can give you, so we must rely on His power to migrate in our thoughts to give us…
