Personal Narrative: How My World Changed
Many people would say that growing up with parents who could not speak english would be to my disadvantage, but I disagree. Growing up I always believed it to be exhausting having to translate and never really feeling normal. I believed it to be dragging and many times protested against it, but besides it being tiring, I also felt embarrassed. Yeah embarrassed of having to deal with my parents and not being able to communicate with them like other kids did with their parents. As I grew older the issue only grew because at that point I began to resent them for putting me through what I believed to be embarrassing moments of confusion, but all of this changed when I finally realized that my parents did the best they could with what they had. …show more content…
Call it growing up or call it maturing, but after this happened my world changed because I realized that my parents, especially my father, struggled everyday to give me and my older brother what we had and that I should be beyond proud of them. My dad being the only working adult in our household has always had the whole responsibility of taking care of us, going and working in terrible conditions and terrible jobs to be able to give us what we had. He never for one moment in his life had it easy. He along with his younger brother and sister were abandoned in his home country, El Salvador, by his mother and father, which led him to have to grow up early and become an adult and parent to his sibling. This lead them to travel to America in search of an opportunity for a better life and they indeed found a home here, but good things can not always last forever. My father lost his younger brother and this drove him to bury himself in his work, which killed me to see my father, the person I most loved in this world, slowly lose himself.
My father is everything. He is my father, he is my hero, he is my bestfriend, and he is my inspiration. If I one day am able to be half as strong as my father has been I will be happy because his strength is what pushes me to want to succeed. His perseverance drives me forward and his support makes me feel

Throughout the past year I have endured several life changing occurances. One of my family members troubled through the treturous stages of cancer and unfortunately has passed at this time. If I have taken anything away from this, it is that family is the most important resource in a persons life. Without those people who tell you that you can, regardless of the circumstances, becoming succesful could be very challenging. After clearing my head, I was able to start thinking of a career choice that would make me enjoy going to work. I encountered an opening at a local CVS/Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician and applied. After being hired, I immediately fell in love with the surroundings, the people, the patient interaction, and the knowledge…

The amount I have changed as a writer is unbelievable. The biggest change is that I no longer loathe writing a paper. I feel as though it comes more naturally than before, and I can now make complete sentences easier than ever before. Another thing that has changed is how quickly I can write a paragraph before I would struggle getting a cohesive thought on a page, but now writing a paragraph that relates all together in some way is easier. All of this brings me onto my next point.…

Tears poured down my face. The tears won’t stop I thought they would never stop. I laid there at night wishing someone would know. Anyone. Someone. But no one ever knew the truth because I didn’t know where they would send me, or what would happen to me. Then my alarm clock blared reminding that I had to go to school. I didn’t even sleep at all. But it’s been like that for days.…

I loved spending my summers in California with my Tio. Every week was the same; a comforting and change free schedule. Practically every morning we would wake up at around nine and eat chadillso and egg for breakfast, we would run errands if we needed to, go to the bookstore or a movie in the afternoon, and take a walk in the evenings. Weekends we would visit my Aunt and my cousin Lauren, who was three years older than me, and Sundays we would wake up early, go to 7:30 mass, and then spend the rest of the day on the beach. My Tio was about 68 when I started flying out in 1st grade. He was kind and gentle, guiding and firm. I loved…

It’s not everyday when the sky was a dark black color and the clouds resembled those in Seattle. It wasn't an average bright sunny day in El Paso, And on this day i didn't realize it was going to change my whole perspective on life. On this beautiful Saturday evening i was hanging out with one of my friend named Fernando who i had never met before and had only met earlier this day . He pulled up in his two seater 2010 Crystler -that was black- as he came out of the car he was a five feet eleven inches with dark brown, hair medium skin color ,and dark eyes that reminded me of the night skies. He was a cold hearted person who would rarely let people in, but surprising in that moment he had glowed with radiance and positivity to meet…

I have transferred to a different school each year since I was a freshman. Leading up to the first time my parents announced we were moving, during the end of my eighth grade year, I had started to inwardly question the act of personal change, and how it can affect one’s mind. This is the time where I had a plethora of internal conflict relating to one’s change and growth as a person. Recognizing that my act of change was being separated from my small yet important group of friends, I remember standing in the quad one day, alone, looking at everyone around me and realizing that they've been through change. Whether it was more or less than my amount of personal change it doesn’t matter, because there is no true way to literally measure one’s…

My life has always been shifting and changing as I grew up. The longest I can remember living in a single place is when I spent four years living with my dad before he died. My mother was someone who kept their roots shallow. I moved so many times that at this point in my life the only one that I can remember is the day she and my dad split up. She’d found out my dad had a serious heart condition and didn’t want a sick man to hang around her house. I was sent with him, not that she would have told it that way. We packed up what we couldn’t bear to lose into a tiny car and drove two days nonstop back to my grandmother’s home in Oklahoma. I was twelve and my own mother had rejected me. I still talked with her but between her and my father’s attempt to make me hate the other they were never pleasant. I hated them both during that time, for making me hate myself.…

It happened on September of 2014, the year that changed my life forever. I moved from Honduras to United States. From a small country to one of the biggest countries in the world. It was, still is, a different environment from living in a big city to a “small” city in the south of the United States. I left all my friends, family, and college studies. I left everything behind.…

A paradigm shift can be the defining factor of one's life. When I started school as an overly-nervous six-year-old my mother said to me, "all I want from you is to do the best with what you have been given." As a six-year-old I never invested much thought into the statement, however, when it was repeated to me at the start of high school it had a far more lasting impact. Those words led me on an adventure to seize every opportunity that presented itself. My life very quickly became like an inner city mall during Christmas, congested and lively. I was simply another keen youth with an insatiable desire to succeed in everything. I initially achieved in most of what I set out to do: second in the grade for academics, A team athlete and cultural performer. However, even with all this early high school success the true 'me' was…
