Personal Narrative: How I Feel In Cross Country
“ Over the river and through the woods” hills, more woods, more hills, and another river”. This is how I feel in Cross Country. I’ve started getting faster, Which is awesome. The first meet I ran I got an overall PR But, The second meet I hurt myself by tripping in a pot hole falling onto my hip. I when I made contact with the ground, all I felt was pain. Pain was flowing through my hip over and over again in that race, I felt pain and I haven’t been able to run correctly since. My Dad had me walk around a block in our neighborhood, then run around it and I was super excited because I could run again, but when I started to run on uneven surfaces, once again, pain. How I think I hurt myself was because in Track last year, I was running the 100m and when I started to get out of the blocks, I messed up my hip, although it got better in a couple of weeks, but this time it’s a lot worse. I can’t run very well right now, I can’t do very many things in practice, When I go to meets all I do is cheer on my teammates, but I can’t any write mile times or their places because they have people to do that, and I haven’t been getting any faster. …show more content…
This injury has been one of the worst things that’s happened to me in a while but, on the bright side, I have time to do homework on the bus and I can have more time to make stuff out of cardboard and foam. One of the worst things about this is I trained a lot for Cross Country this year, and getting faster was my hope on the boards to write your hope on on the first day. I hope that my hip will heal soon, so I can finish the Cross Country season and be ready for track, and have an amazing track season.
I can keep running to get better for next year, and the next year, and the next

    Two days. Two days was how long the break between training for track, and training for cross country started. As a team our goal was to have the top 12 guys run 500 miles each, which at the time seemed to be an unreasonable goal.     It was a scorching hot October day in Palatine, Illinois. As my team and I warmed up for our cross country race we could feel the sun fry us. Over the next few weeks, I went for treatment which consisted of electrical stimulation therapy, and at least 15 minutes of Active Release Therapy, which wasn’t comfortable, to put it mildly.     I was at practice one Wednesday night of January the 11th, in the middle of a defensive drill In which I planted my foot and put all my weight on it ready to turn the ball handler. Then made a quick few steps then dropped to the hardwood I was in a world of hurt. I quickly grabbed at my leg grimacing with pain as my head laid back. I tried to hold back tears, after receiving help to sit down I could feel the cooling of ice on my leg, however, I wasn't able to pinpoint the exact part the pain was coming from. My dad had to come and pick me up and I could not put any weight whatsoever on my leg for literally three days. My mom took me to get an x-ray the next day, the doctor said: “Well the x-rays don't show anything let’s wait a while and if you still have any complications then we’ll schedule an MRI.” About a week and a half went by until I finally got the MRI it took about an hour and the machine kept giving off these strange loud noises it was weird. Then we had to wait for a few days to get the results, It was that Saturday at six o'clock that me and my brother and sister were at my grandma’s then my mom called asking to speak to me I picked up the phone not expecting what I was about to hear, “Cameron, the results came back and you have a completely torn ACL, you need to come home and get back on the crutches.” It felt like I just got shot, I was not expecting a torn…

    My sophomore year while playing in a football game, I tackled a player from the other team right before half-time. While I was making the tackle, I felt a pop in my knee. It wasn’t very painful because of the adrenaline in my system at the time but the next day the pain came.
