When I first began to think about college, I was overwhelmed to say the least. More accurately, I was terrified. I had no obvious plan for the future and I didn’t know how I was going to decide where to go or what to do. I knew what I liked to do but I had no idea how interests translated into a major. It all seemed so impossible at the beginning, but as the year progressed I began to develop a goal: Meredith College. After a long period of worry and stress, I was accepted to Meredith and offered financial aid. Meredith College is my dream school and I know that’s where God wants me to grow for the next four years. I am so excited to go to school and to learn everything this important, unique school has to offer. Ever since I was little, I…

Asheville School is terrific, and my favorite parts are the campus, boarding, and the athletics. Asheville School has an very old beautiful campus. This school has a large campus with brick buildings. The campus has been around since 1900. This school is a boarding school. This means for an extra cost, you can rent and live on campus in small dorms. Because of this, if I have friends that live on campus I am allowed to sleep in their dorms if I need to. Asheville School also has a awesome athletics program. They have football, soccer, baseball, basketball and many other sports. There is also mountaineering which is a bunch of different activities such as rock climbing, white water kayaking and mountain biking. I really like Asheville School…

I am an 18 year old finishing up her freshman year of college. As well as playing on a collegiate soccer team. I am living on campus experiencing living on my own away from family and getting the ”opportunity” in making life decisions with little help from my parents. As a typical collegiate athlete student, I am overwhelmed with homework, sports, and trying to fit in a “life” here. As well as running on little sleep because of school catching up with me. Grace University has caused many stressful moments throughout this year, but that comes with any typical college. Classes, practices, games, SLT’s, and chapels so far have been the only part of my life and my structure at Grace. I am not generally from here, but because my dad’s side of the…

My rite of passage was coming to Randolph-Macon. As I arrived at Randolph-Macon College on September 1st to begin my freshman year of college, I could not do anything but shake from being so nervous. My parents kept telling me that everything would come together and I would fit right in. I had never felt so out of place. Coming from a small private school, with a graduating class of 30, I could not bear to meet a freshman class that was as bigger than my hometown or my k-12 school. It was like I was a nightmare and no matter how many times I pinched myself, I could not wake up. I was trapped here without any friends or a vehicle to escape.…

I began working at Keeter my first semester at College of the Ozarks. On my first day of work, the supervisor handed me a gleaming gold name tag that not only had my name but the state I came from. I watched as others put their nametags on, and I quickly discovered that most of them read Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. I looked down at my nametag and felt a sense of uniqueness, knowing no one in the room had the state of Virginia. I soon began to realize that my nametag sparked curiosity when the guests saw how far I had traveled. Guest after guest would ask the same question, “How did you end up here?” I answered this question dozens of times within a day. There were days that I would begrudgingly tell the Keeter guests my journey to this College, but never once did I fail to cherish the opportunity I was given.…

When I first started at Napa College, I knew that getting involved was going to be very important. However, I didn't know it was going to be a lot more complicated on my behalf to do so. This is because, when I first came to Napa Valley college, I had also just obtained my first job. The job which would allow me to help sustain myself and help my family financially. I was not used to this type of schedule when I first came into Napa College. This Is because I didn't know how to manage my time, and simply didn't know what to make as my major primary. I was confused whether to make school or make work a primary. So, I ended up making them both as a priory, which meant dedicating half and half to each. Later on, I found out that I didn't have…

It was the morning of move in day. I said goodbye to my home and headed out. I passed the local shopping market and my high school where I enjoyed a fun four years. As I headed to Norman I realized I was leaving everything I had ever known. All my life has consisted of living in the same house, going to school with the same kids, and going to the same supermarkets and restaurants. While I’d like to say I have developed a good idea of the world around me by visiting so many cities around the United States, in reality the only world I’ve ever known is the same one I have spent my whole life in. I have loved growing up in Northwest Oklahoma City with the friends that have helped shaped me into who I am today, however I relished the opportunity…

The event that I choose to follow summer fest was a simple and casual visit to the wellness and recreational center, fancy way of saying the gym. Upon my first ever visit to Florida International University I still remember at our freshmen orientation entering the gym and thinking to myself this seems like a place that I will be visiting often during my four year tenure at school. And boy was I right, the facility was clean and professional looking very much like a professional gym would appear, the staff where all kind and ready to assist you if help was ever necessary, something that I truly valued. I was extremely exited to take a spinning class at the FIU gym, I had only ever heard positive reviews and I was looking forward to the experience as well. Personally I am obsessed with fitness so any class, or activity is something that I love to experience which is what drove me to experience the class myself, and did, I love it. When I got out of that class I was sweating so much, I felt like I had gone on a run around the world and it so amazing, the instructor knew exactly what she was doing and had no problem helping you out if you needed it, the music was fun and exiting extremely up tempo. Overall I can only rave about the experience, it was positive and motivational. It has truly inspired me to no matter how stressed I may be I can always go down to the gym and relieve my stress while gaining a benefit as well.…

My education is my best and only way to make my life work right. I am now currently going to Valencia College working towards my Associate Degree in communications. My current major is Communication, although Broadcast Journalism is what I will most likely pursue for my Bachelor Degree. Communication/Broadcast Journalism is one of the most important careers today. Today, broadcasters are used in almost every aspect of our lives: radios, television, telephones, and the newspaper. The college that I plan to attend after I obtain my A.A. Degree at Valencia is the University Of South Florida (USF). Continuing my education is important and absolutely necessary to my personal as well as life-long career goals.…

The Early College was the push I needed to better myself as a student and as a person. In high school, I received stellar grades and test scores without trying. I never needed to study, and I did the bare minimum for a majority of my assignments. Occasionally, I would find an assignment that I loved and go way beyond the requirement. I was a teacher favorite, but I was disliked by other students because I was a bit of a show off with my intelligence. I never needed time management skills, so I never developed them. While I was received good grades, I did not improve any of my skills or abilities. This program helped me find my faults and make changes that have made a world of difference.…
