He said that she is in the hospital because she was having a baby. Me with my 5 year old mind thought she was here. I said to my dad where is the baby, and he said that the baby is in the hospital. I was sad because I would not be able to see my sister all day. I had to go to school, so I got ready and got on the bus.

When we got to school, my teacher asked what is going on in class, I yelled my mom is in the hospital because she is giving birth to a baby. When I was in school, all I did was telling my friends about my sister.

It was 2009 and I had been in sixth grade for a couple of months. I was on the phone with one of my friends from school when my mom called through my door for me to come out into the living room. I ignored her and kept talking for a few minutes when she called me out again. I rolled my eyes and told my friend I would call her right back. I walked into the living room and it seemed odd to me that both my sisters and dad were all out there too. I watched my mom take a deep breath with my dad by her side. As she began to speak her voice shook and gloss covered her eyes. “The doctors found a lump in my last mammogram.” she said. “It came back as cancer. I’m going to have to get treatment but I’m going to be okay.” No one else said a word, we all…

She was born on a busy summer night on September 13th 1918 in Brookline, Massachusetts. I always had the feeling that Rosie was a little different from the rest of us. On the day of her birth the midwife arrived late, and my theory is that this action deprived her brain of oxygen. We were proven right when she failed to advance from kindergarten and was deemed to suffer from intellectual disabilities. When this happened our parents began to conceal their third child from society.…

Really awesome post, and I can totally agree with everything that you’ve said! It is super uncomfortable to even think about talking to my kids about them having sex. Thankfully I have a little while before I have to have that talk with them since they are really little. In my opinion I will be trying to explain things to them gradually and as questions arise. My oldest is five, so we’ve gone over the basics of how no one should touch her private parts. While I was pregnant, she asked me how the baby was going to come out of my stomach. I had a truthful conversation with her as to what happens during the birthing process, and thankfully she was not curious as to how the baby came to be there in the first place. I agree with you there is a lot…
